~Top Moments of 2013~

With the New Year upon us I thought it would be fitting to go through my top moments of 2013!! Most of these were pre-blog, so apologies for the longish post! You'll see why 2013 will be a pretty tough year to beat!

In January I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the most wonderful women in the whole world that showered me with kind words, gifts and most of all their presence! Check out the cutest cake ever!!

I managed to go to a few concerts this year and these two ladies put on fantastic shows!! Ellie Goulding was one of the best concerts I have ever been to ~ she has since really taken off in the States, but this girl can sing!! If you've never heard of Lindsey Stirling - check out some of her YouTube performances! She was so fun and entertaining!

On top of celebrating our own nuptials - we were lucky enough to celebrate the wedding of three very special couples!!

I went to Vegas for the first time to celebrate my cousin's bachelorette party!!

In August I finally got to see Justin Timberlake in Concert - with Jay Z no less!!

We celebrated our honeymoon in Maui and San Francisco ~ and I can't wait to do a recap post in March!!

And it's obvious that the highlight of 2013 was marrying my best friend and soul mate!! It was the most amazing day of my life and the best party I have ever been to!!

There are so many other great things that happened this year that were never captured via a photo! I finally started my blog, I switched careers and took calligraphy classes.

I have been surrounded by so much love this past year and I can't help but be thankful for everyone around me and all the blessings that have led me to where I am. Hoping 2014 is awesome as well!!

~Christmas Recap ~

It was a whirlwind Christmas week over here! I can't believe it's come and gone, but Santa was mighty good to this little jewish girl!

We started our Christmas morning with a great breakfast quiche that I made the night before- super delish and so easy to make.

Christmas Day we spent at my sister's house and had one fantastic dinner!! All I have to say is Lobster Mac & Cheese

Gary's sister hosted a gorgeous Christmas dinner for us on Saturday with a decadent Cannoli dessert!!
A little uncanny the resemblance between Gary and his nephew…

After all was said and done this pretty much sums up how I felt!

This was beyond a wonderful Christmas…one thing we realized after was that we didn't purchase "our first Christmas" ornament - Bright side they are all probably 70% off now!

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday and it's almost 2014…ummm how did that happen?

~A Christmas Miracle~

Happy Friday everyone!! While some people's Christmas celebration may be over, we are headed to one more family Christmas gathering this weekend! So a full holiday recap will take place on Monday!!

I know the title of this post has you all on pins and needles on what the miracle could have actually been...well I'm the baby in the family and with that I've always been babied!! Now that I'm married everyone (except for me) got the memo that I apparently can be in charge of something other than bringing the wine to family gatherings! HA!

All kidding aside, I do enjoy cooking and over the last three years have become pretty good at it - I mean I can read and follow directions.

My sister asked me to make two hot appetizers. I have one tried and true favorite of Stuffed Mushrooms and I found a new Caprese Dip Recipe online. I probably couldn't have picked two more easier recipes, but I wanted to enjoy my family time.

Ladies this was BEYOND easy...my husband actually did the majority of work on this one and it came out fantastic. With only three ingredients I am positive we'll be making it again! We used the wrong dish for this..pie dish instead of something a little smaller so the picture makes the dip look a little deflated/depressing. Not to worry, this sucker was gone in 5 minutes flat! The recipe does call for you to eat immediately and we followed that direction to a T!

The stuffed mushrooms I make can really include anything you want...but these are the basic steps to getting it done.

You'll need
15-20 fresh mushrooms
3 tbsp of butter
2 tbsp finely chopped onions (I usually use 1 small onion)
1 sweet pepper
14-20 crackers (any type you'd like)
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400°
  2. Snap stems off mushrooms and chop 1/4 of a cup of them
  3. Chop onion(s) and peper
  4. Melt butter into skillet
  5. Add chopped mushrooms, onions and peppers - cook until tender
  6. Remove from heat and add crushed crackers, cheese and Italian seasoning.
  7. Stir and stuff the mushrooms
  8. Bake for 15 minutes
  9. ENJOY!

Both of these were a smashing success and my BIL dubbed it "B-Licious" I'll take it and hope you try these out as well!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Closet Envy | Pinterest Edition

Happy Monday everyone!! Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for this Christmas week!  If you're working (like me this week) hope it's an easy week for us all!!

With the start of a new year upon us…I always feel like I need to start fresh and clean and the first place I tackle is my closet!! Unfortunately (or fortunately for my husband) my closet options are sort of lacking…we have one each and then that's it for storage - so it definitely forces us to be creative!! I have lots of hidden gems I forget about all the time that are stuck under our bed…
Sad truth is…all closets in the city DO NOT look like Carrie Bradshaw's!!  I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to my love for closets!! (follow me here) It's not unlike me to stand in front of my closet for 10 minutes and then growl out in frustration that I have nothing to wear!! Obviously I do…but since it only stays organized for about 2 weeks after I clean it - things get a little untidy. So for 2014…I hope to stay organized for 3-4 weeks! It's a marathon not a sprint ladies!

So I'll leave you with this dream closet…I think we can all agree that a two story closet would be just that - a dream!!

So tell me ladies - Do you have a way you organize your closets?!

Thank you for reading!!

I unfortunately do not have a photo from the birthday celebrations of this lovely lady...but we were able to have some birthday drinks in the midst of a winter storm on Tuesday!

~THREE~
One of the things that makes shopping for other people during the holidays harder is that it's undoubtedly the only time you find stuff for yourself!!! Banana Republic was having amazing sales this week and I picked up two pairs of pants for $30!!!
~LEFT~                                     ~RIGHT~
Online it's not that great, but in store both pants were less than $16!

~FOUR~
I have seen so many wonderful ways to wrap presents from other bloggers and pinterest and next year I just have to step my game up!!
Follow me on Pinterest!

~FIVE~
Gary and I took the two days leading up to NYE off! Which means time to relax and enjoy the day. I'm a sucker for the movies...I just love it! The best part will be going to see a movie during the day, when the theater is completely empty!! Hoping to see these two movies soon!

We have two holiday parties tomorrow night and of course a sushi date tonight!! Hope ya'll have a great weekend!

Thanks so much for reading!

Thirsty Thursday | Holiday Cocktails

Let me start by saying I am not a huge fan of drinking. Honestly, I'm a lightweight!! But... I do enjoy yummy drinks. My brother-in-law is quite the mixologist and is sure to provide something delicious for Christmas - he created an amazing cranberry martini for Thanksgiving! Even though Gary and I are having a low key New Years and I can't wait to try out some of these champagne infused cocktails!

For those of you that don't have a fancy bartender in your family, here are a few recipes for you to try out this holiday season!!

This drink screams Christmas to me
Frozen Cranberry delicousness!
The Breakers Coco Snowball
A super easy champs recipe - 4 ingredients!
With a name like Rudolf's Tipsy Spritzer - this is sure to be a hit
My personal go-to and favorite...the Bellini.

Do you have any favorite holiday drinks?!

Surviving a New England Winter | Southern Girl Style

Ladies - I got slapped with what the term "winter" really meant the year after I moved to Boston. It's not just cold up here in New England, it's Faahhhrrrreeezzzinnngg!!! My idea of winter before Boston was maybe a sweater with jeans, but layering, I mean I didn't even know what that meant!!

Before diving (appropriate word here) into my winter wardrobe essentials, I thought it would be important (neh entertaining) to explain why these items - more specifically one item are on my MUST have list.

Strike #1 ~ After a particularly blistering week of cold, my boyfriend (now husband) and I went to my sister's house to celebrate Christmas with the family. While getting out of the car and having arms full of presents - My legs flew from under me and I was flat out on my back...why you may ask, black ice and a poor choice in footwear! Ok, so you're thinking "one slip on the ground does not make anyone afraid to walk..." well it gets better.

Strike #2 ~ The following week, my cousin and his girlfriend were coming to Boston to celebrate New Years with us. After carefully explaining to them to be careful walking, I myself turn around only to find myself smack dab on the ground again! Only this time it was worse, much worse, I landed on the curb and my head bounced off the sidewalk. By some miracle, I was left with only a nice shiner (only to be covered up with pounds of make-up for the festivities), but I could see that my shoe choice in the winter was starting to be a problem.

Strike #3~ Three days following the New Year year, I walked out of my hubby-to-be's apartment and started literally skiing down his street?! I screamed until finally the ice had turned into real sidewalk again and I was able to get my footing! Apparently, he had enough and we bought my #1 winter essential that same day!

Without further adieu - my winter survival guide from one southern girl turned northern pro!

These pretties are what keep me upright now-a-days!! I am forced to walk a little funny, but knowing that I won't be flat out on my face anymore is worth it!! They are waterproof, snow proof and all but ice proof. In my book that equals WINNING!! And by #1 winter essential!

If forced to wear large items of clothing - you better believe they are at least going to be stylish!! This coat has been with me for 3 years and I love it!! It keeps me warm without looking to bulky and it's actually cute! Mine is in black so it matches everything!

This hat and these gloves complete the look. I have been eyeing this ear warmer for those occasions when I do my hair and want to keep warm as well.

My scarf was a gift from my sister upon moving to Boston. This is a similar style and I like to change it up between a wool scarf and a lighter animal print one that I purchased from Old Navy a few seasons ago.

So there you have it - my winter essentials! I have had the majority of these items for more than three years and since I wear them every single day during the colder months, to me it justifies spending a little more for great quality!

What are your winter essentials?!

Thanks so much for reading!
