B~Inspired

It's been a goal of mine to start a series showcasing other women - be it bloggers, business owners or stay at home mamas! B~Inspired (did you see what I did there?!) will highlight the things I want to know about the women I find to be inspiring! My questions will range from personal to motivational and I hope that you'll get to know some of these special women a little more!!
I'm really excited to start the series with Amanda. We all know and love her from the blogging world, but getting to know what Amanda does for a living (spoiler: she's not just a barre instructor ha!) and the latest products she coveting was really fun!! I truly am inspired by everything she is able to cram into a 24 hour period and hope you'll enjoy our Q&A!

B: What is the biggest risk you've ever taken?
A: I think at this time, the biggest risk I've ever taken was deciding to leave the comforts of everybody and everything that I had ever known growing up in Boston and move to Florida when I had just turned 18. I had gotten into the University of Florida. I packed my bags and moved straight down the Eastern coast not knowing a single soul. I was petrified not knowing anyone but it ended up being the best experience. I then moved to Philadelphia for Grad school and then back to Florida where I currently reside and don't see myself going anywhere else.
B: What are three things you'll never leave the house without?
A: Hmmmm should I be original or practical? My purse, sunglasses and lip gloss.
B: What is your current go-to scent?
A: I wear Guerlain L'Instant. Anytime I wear it people will ask me what I'm wearing. I absolutely love it plus it's not on every single persons radar.
{via}
B: If you could give your 21 year old self advice what would it be?
A: Enjoy these years because very soon you'll be a grown up and you won't be able to sleep till 2 anymore.
B: Where would you go for a dream vacation?
A: That is so tough!!! Either Mykonos or Fiji. I mean my honeymoon is coming up...
{via}
B: What woman would you want to have dinner with and why?
A: Probably Oprah. I would like to tell her about all my work with Pediatric Obesity. With her funds maybe I could actually make changes at a higher level, especially with school lunch reform.
B: What's your number one wish list item?
A: I'm currently coveting a few high ticket items for my upcoming 30th birthday, but if I had to choose the ultimate, it would be a Chanel classic quilted black flap handbag.
B: Who would play you in a movie?
A: That is so hard!! Well I think I'm just a little bit funny. The only actress that ever makes me really laugh is Leslie Mann, so I would totally be down with her playing me!
{They even have the same side!}

B: How did you decide that you wanted to venture into teaching fitness classes? Along with that - what did you have to do in order to get certified to teach barre.
A: Basically any exercise that I start liking, I get the itch to eventually teach. It started with spin. I fell in love with it, got certified and then started teaching at the studio I was taking at. With Barre, I was hooked after the first class. I started going 5-6 times a week. When my studio was opening another one, I tried out and got picked to be a new instructor. I was sent to corporate training and then passed my test. I have been teaching for almost a year and love it just as much as the first class I ever took.
B: What's a regular work day like for you?
A: Are you ready? I am usually up at 6 AM (5 if I teach class). Shower, throw a Starbucks K-Cup in the machine and take my coffee to go. I normally have a 30 minute commute where I catch up with my mother or sister. I get to the office and see patients until 4 or 5. On my lunch break I am catching up on my daily blog reads, answering emails or grading papers for my faculty teaching position. I leave and head to Barre, either to take class or teach one. Head home, make some dinner, finish up my posts and head to bed. I really try to fit a lot in one day.
B: What has been the best moment in your career thus far?
A: Getting my own clinic and seeing patients specifically referred to see me.
B: What is one quote you live by?
A:  "You can never be overdressed or over-educated." - Oscar Wilde
B: What's the best advice you have for balancing life?
A: I am all about protecting my mental health. If saying yes to that extra invite, meeting or dinner invitation is going to push me over the edge, I am now comfortable enough to say no thank you. Sometimes you just need that time by yourself to catch up on sleep or decompress and that is okay. You need that to help you stay centered and focus for everything else your life requires.
B: What has been your most inspired moment?
A: When my patients succeed at their goals, feel good about themselves and thank me for all my help. Seeing someone achieve their health and wellness goals is the most rewarding experience especially when it is a young kid that I have made a positive impact for hopefully their entire lives!
Many thanks to Amanda for being the guinea pig on this little idea of mine! I loved getting to know her a bit better, especially since she's going to be visiting Boston so soon and we finally get to meet - this is 8 months in the making!!
Thanks so much for reading!
