Must Have Winter Essentials

Back when I first started blogging almost one year ago (ahhh) I did a post on my winter essentials! I actually had to delete the post because for some reason I had an insane amount of spam comments coming in for that one post!! Since it no longer exists and pretty much the entire country is prepping for two weeks of frigid temps – it’s the perfect time to share some of my winter essentials!!

Coats

I’m currently sporting this Tahari coat and it’s time for a change! It’s been a great four year run, but not only do I need something a little warmer, but I need something that doesn’t have a split seam / ripped pocket!! Sadly the coat is no longer available or I’d just buy the same one…but I want something similar!

My first choice is this Tahari Puffer jacketin Chocolate and it’s on sale!!

Michael Kors Belted Puffer Coat

DKNY Double Collar Coat

Dream Winter Jacket

North Face has this parka and it keeps you almost thermal!! But at $320 I’m not ready to spend that kind of money…even though I would probably be living in this jacket for 5 months out of the year!

Just because I need to be warm doesn’t mean I can’t look cute right!?I always buy my big coats from stores like Macy’s and Lord & Taylorbecause they have the best sales and I can double up on my coupons!

Boots

I have these Sorel Joan of Arctic boots in grey and honestly when there is snow on the ground or the threat of a snow storm I live in them!! Are they the easiest to walk in – that’s a big fat NO, do I waddle a bit like a duck, YES but, what they do have going for them…me not falling on black ice!!!

For every other winter day I can be found walking in the UGG Summer Boots – poor naming on the brands part. Some might thing that these are not fashionable, but let me tell you when you toes are warm, it hardly matters what the boots look like! I personally think these are fantastic!

I don’t think I’m quite “New England” enough to sport these LL Bean Boots, but I do like that they are ankle boots!

Outerwear

I’m a firm believer in looking cute even if it means I have to be covered from head to toe and in the winter I take that literally! I’m really sad that I lost my favorite North Face hatlast year, but I’m repurchasing it without a doubt! This is the best hat and worth the $35 price tag!! My scarf of choice is a Burberry wool scarf that was a gift from my sister from my first winter in Boston and is sadly not sold in stores anymore! I do have a few back-ups all from Target and they are just as warm! As for gloves well I have two sets – those that I wear every day and then other’s for going out! How dreamy are these Kate Spade quilted gloves

Other essentials!

Hand and Feet warmers!! I didn’t realize just how essential these were until the city was shut down earlier this year because it was too cold to go outside!! Being the rebels we are, Gary and I decided after 24+ hours cooped up inside we’d venture to the movies…well lets fast forward to Gary buying a few sets of these at CVS so our toes could defrost!!

Ear warmers are another item that I wear on those especially frigid days! I’m not afraid to have a hat on and my ears covered…at least I’ll be warm!

EOS chapstickis my favorite and I have about three at any given time! Cracked and dry lips are the worst this time of year and this has been a life saver!!

So there you have my winter essentials! What do you need to survive the cold?

You can shop my winter favorites here:

Check Marshalls for coats! They get Tahari in at Marshalls often! I love this coat from the Blue Door Boutique thebluedoorboutique.com/Perfect-Puffer-Coat.html. I don't really need a new one right now though. The Kate Spade gloves are gorg! I love the Eos formula, but not so much the design. I mostly carry a wristlet at work) and it doesn't fit in there. I always seem to be dropping it on the floor! lol xo

Great coat round up, and you are right! Those gloves are perfect! I am actually on the lookout for new leather gloves because some how one never makes it through the whole season.

I literally have a jar of eos chapstick right in front of me!! haha it contains about 5….I have a problem! ANYWAYS, I love this post! We are prepping for the polar vortex down here, and I really like those puffer coats! And nothing makes me happier than gloves and earmuffs or a beanie!

It was 55 here this morning and I was freezing……it's all relative right? πŸ˜‰ Love that Northface jacket! Their stuff stays so well…..definitely need to find a coupon code! Your other winter essential is that you always have a place to stay in FL πŸ™‚ xoxoxo

I need a new winter coat too. Last year was brutal. I love those ear muffs I got a similar one last year and it was perfect for shoveling.

I'm torn between wanting to wear such fabulous coats and never wanting to leave to south to a climate where they would actually be necessary. Haha, loving these picks!

These are all fantastic picks and great timing – it's a whopping 18 degrees here this morning! You should keep an eye out at TJMaxx and Marshall's for coats. I almost bought a Michael Kors coat a few weeks ago for only $99! Sadly, I already have a nice heavy peacoat so I couldn't really justify it. I did, though, just buy a long puffer coat from Costco of all places! I think the brand is Anthony Marc – it's a great heavy coat, and I know it will keep me super warm on these chilly days. Hand and feet warmers are definitely a must – thanks for reminding me to pick up a few packs!

i live in a frozen tundra (canada) so warm winter gear is a must for me. the only jacket i will wear is north face because not only is it SO WARM, it's one of the best technical coats in the industry. my friend is a designer and is really knowledgeable with fabrics and she said that north face coats have one of the best technical designs that help regulate your temperature so you stay warm.

i've been making ear warmers and scarves these past few days and will be attempting a hat next week πŸ™‚

Ugh, winter! I'm so not ready for it! But these coats!! I neeeeeeeed one of these in my life! Those ear warmers are my fave and of course I love EOS chapstick! Mia discovered mine on Sunday and she sat on the couch for a solid half hour unscrewing it, smearing it on her lips (but not before testing it on her face before I showed her where to put it on) then screwing it back on. Over and over and over for a half hour. She would also look at me and say, "nummy nummy!!" just to let me know that she was really enjoying herself, HA!

I got a JCrew puffer that is THE warmest coat ever and they have on Factory now. I can't say enough good things about it! Those hand and feet warmers are key and so are Ugg's!! I stocked up on fleece lined leggings last year, which make leaving the house a little easier! I am so not ready for another winter like last year's!

Great post!! Buying outwear can be so challenging as puffer coats can be so unflattering. I have a DKNY one that I love, it has a cinched waist and it really makes the coat more flattering. In the winter, you need a good hat, scarf and boots. Last year, someone stole my favorite hat. I was so upset, I had it for years and am still heartbroken over it. Thanks it all the snow last year, my winter boots fell apart. It was too upsetting since I had them for about five years. Oh I loved them though, they were bright pink. Wearing bright boots in the snow, just makes things more cheery.

I really need to invest in a long black puffer coat! My peacoat just doesn't keep up when it's really freezing outside. This is a great list and you are so right – sometimes you just don't care as long as your toes are warm! I would have to add some tall socks for days when you have to wear thin dress pants to this list!

Oh my goodness…that North Face jacket! I love the length and the color is so beautiful, but I am totally with you on the $300 price tag. I have a much shorter North Face jacket that my parents got me with their American Express points, and I practically live in it in the winter. It is so comfy & cute. I freaking hate the winter. hate. I have spent 2 winters here now, and the last was obviously the worst (out of 2 haha I have so many more to go) and this year I am determined to at least be comfortable and cute-ish. I bought a big puffy jacket (not as puffy as those ones) at the end of last winter and I'm all about the scarves and beanies this year. That north face hat is super cute, if and when you replace it you'll have to share some pictures so that I can see what it looks like before buying it myself πŸ™‚

Hating my busy schedule and procrastination so bad right now! Also, another vote for Uggs. Yeah, some of the insane styles they've come out with are u-g-l-y but they are WARM beyond belief so who cares??
