Let's Get Cozy

When Gary came home on Tuesday night from his work holiday party, he did so bearing gifts!! Sometimes with gift swaps you can really luck out and he picked a seriously plush throw - the man knew who he was picking for! That led to me to dreaming up my must haves for a cozy night at home! I sort of blame the West Elm catalog I was also flipping through!

My cozy night essentials!

Cozy Night Essentials
Step 1: Must get comfy!! I need to throw on my comfortable pajamas and get situated in my spot on the couch! Does anyone else have a set position on their couch? Once situated I can wrap myself in the most luxurious throw ever! Side note - I was about to purchase the one above from Target's Threshold collection last Friday, but thought ours had some more life left in it...little did I know I'd get one anyway!
Step 2: For those of us not fortunate enough to have a real fireplace we have to stick to candles!! If you want to hear wood cracking for real check out these Wood Wick candles I recently found - you can also find them at Marshalls!
Step 3: Now comes the what to drink part! Sometimes I'm in the mood for a glass of wine other times I really want something yummy so I opt for some hot chocolate with mini marshmallows! Both Gary and I have the limited edition Anthropologie mugs and it makes drinking a little more festive!
Step 4: Finding something we can both agree on to watch!! Friday nights are usually our take out and movie night, but before that we catch up on all our shows from the week like Marry Me and The Mindy Project.
Can't forget: The sweet and salty snacks...inevitably if I just finished something salty I need to follow it up by eating something sweet...my go to is just a few chocolate chips on their own.

What are your cozy night essentials?

  12. I wish it was the weekend and I could cozy up with all that right this second!

  13. Ah! Now I'm wishing it was night time (aka- Mia's bed time) and I could cozy up under a blanket with some hot chocolate and a good movie! What a sad start to my day considering Mia hasn't even woken up for the day yet- ha ha!
Want to hear something crazy? When we moved here 3 years ago, we were renting a beautiful home (oh how I miss the garage there!!) with a fireplace.... and we never used it. NOT EVEN ONCE! I am seriously kicking myself for not taking advantage, especially after Mia was born! All those hours just cuddling Mia WITHOUT the coziness of a fire? Ugh!

  23. Haha, YES! Hubs and I have our "assigned seating" on the couch - even the dogs have their own consistent spots! And I'm so glad I'm not the only one who buys chocolate chips not for baking, but to eat straight out of the bag. Just a few per night ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love this post!! I'm with you all the way on the snacks too. I always need to have something sweet after eating something salty. :-) I would also include fuzzy socks and a nice glass of wine or tea. :-) I hope that you are having a good day so far too.

  25. I am SO obsessed with blankets. Chris makes fun of me because they are all over the house. I sometimes even keep one in the back seat of his car so I can cuddle up with the dog on long trips. (I sit in the back when Sky is with us).

    ReplyDelete
  26. i just love those mugs. i was too slow to get them last year so i hope they are back so i can snag one :) also - that bag of goldfish is gone for me in one sitting every time. i can't buy them! lastly, marry me is a great show but it'll never come close to happy endings. rip happy endings, rip.

  27. Yes yes yes! Nick and I both have our "spots" on the couch, too - so funny. We're having our first fire in our fireplace tonight and I can't wait! But otherwise I am a HUGE fan of the Woodwick candles!

  28. A good throw is a MUST! I have a Vera Bradley one that is hideous and doesn't match a thing in my apartment but it doesn't matter. I will always snuggle up in it when I'm on the couch. PS Good job Gary on the gift exchange! You've taught him well B!
