What to Wear | NYE Style

We have a little less than a week to go until New Years Eve and outfit planning is in full force. I've already mentioned that we'll be getting a little fancy this year and making our way to New Jersey to celebrate, but I still haven't figured out what I'll be wearing! I'm torn between a choosing a dress which is super easy to pull off or a jumpsuit, which will more than likely pose a problem throughout the evening!! I've rounded up my top picks in both categories and need your help deciding!!

Sparkle & Color

NYE Dresses

NYE Dresses

Let's pretend for a second that these model's aren't 5'10, so these dresses would probably fall a little longer on me. I'm loving the pink color of the Lulu's dress and even though it's easy to fall back on black, adding a little sequins dresses it up even more!
Then there's this Target dress that is $17 and almost too good to pass up and just have in your closet just in case!

Jumping in on the fun

NYE Jumpsuits
1//2//3//
My favorite out of this bunch is the red v-cut jumpsuit from Forever21 for only $27.90!!
NYE Jumpsuits
My absolute favorite rompers that I found were this one from Nordstrom and this one from Lulu's! The red sequins really does kick it up a notch, but going to the bathroom can prove to be rather difficult!!
If none of these options work then I have a few possibilities in my closet, but sometimes you just want something shiny and new to ring in a new year!!

I also participated in The Sequin Notebook's Holiday Card Swap and although I totally failed to snap a picture of the cute cards I sent to my partner, I did receive the gals card and it's beyond perfect!! Totally fitting of their bubbly and sparkly personality!
I also got a super cute penguin card from Jennifer!
Which one NYE style would you go for?

  1. Love that studded dress! So pretty and classy! I love all of those jumpsuits too but I'm still hesitant on that trend! I feel like I'd be lost in one since I'm so short! I might give one a try though...you never know, right?

  2. I'm with Pamela, I'm nervous about the jumpsuit because it has to be JUST right to look perfect.
I love the pink dress and the black and silver one next to it! They are all gorgeous and so are you so whatever you pick will look amazing!

  4. I am allllllllll about sparkle and pink so that 2nd dress is perfect for me. Thanks so much for finding it, heehee!

I love the deep sweatheart sparkle neckline of the 3rd dress, too. Pants suits are not for me, I'll let the models keep rockin em!

  5. NYE is my birthday! :) So you know I'm looking to go all out, ha. Love these picks!
Currently leaning toward a jumpsuit- have something arriving today via FedEx and we'll see if it works!
    Happy holidays, babe!

  6. Oh you are so sweet - we love that penguin card, and are so happy that you were part of the card swap! As for the NYE outfits...that Target dress is just too good to pass up (and there's always call for another sequin dress, right?) but I vote you go bold with the red jumpsuit...it's stunning, and will definitely make you stand out from the crowd!

  7. Waaaaaay too many amazing picks here! I was trying to narrow down my favorites and I love all of the! That V neck red jumpsuit would look so fabulous on you! I love that pink number and the red lace one. Gorgeous! I have a few sparkles that made the cut from the big closest clean out ;-)

  8. i didn't get my cards in time fr my swap people so i'm posting them on xmas day if they show!

  9. I love all these picks but the hot pink and the red lace dress are my favorites and I think the colors would look great on you. The jumpsuits would be a bathroom nightmare especially after a few drinks. ;)

  10. Love all the pretty sparkliness for NYE... I will definitely vote to go for the dress! So much prettier and easier to function in throughout the night. Can't wait to see you guys all fancy :)

  11. Girl, you've got so many great options here! I think the first black dress with the art deco/chevron sequined pattern would look killer on you, and I'm also slightly obsessed with that strapless jumpsuit with the faux leather bodice and wide leg pants ... what a tough decision! At the end of the day, maybe go with the inexpensive Target dress just in case you spill a glass of champagne and then you won't feel too bad about it. :)

  12. Sparkle all the way girl!!! That's just my style though. I think that you would look beautiful in any of those dresses. I Those jumpsuits are fab too! I say get whatever you think that you can wear again. Unless you don't care about that haha. I hope that you're enjoying your day so far and Happy Holidays to you and Gary!!! :-)

  13. I love the hot pink dress!! And the jumpers as well- but I've never actually tried one of those on… rompers/jumpers = bathroom probs, right?!? haha. Can't wait to see what you end up wearing… I have no plans this year- wahh!!

  14. So many choices!!! Love the pink dress, but NYE definitely calls for more sparkles!!

  15. Gah, if I could pull of jumpers, I'd totally wear the red one! Cute picks!

  16. So many amazing options, I'd be having a tough time choosing too. I think I like the red lace dress best, just because you'd be able to wear it again to less sparkly events.

  21. Loving all of your picks! A few of these I have favorited as potential options for NYE, but I'm leaning towards a sequin cropped top with a black skirt and tights... we'll see what happens!

  24. OBSESSED with that red jumpsuit! I totally want one. We have a wedding so I am wearing a dress that I already featured but man if I was headed to the bars that jumpsuit would be mine haha!

  25. I love the very first dress and that red lace dress! I think that jumpsuits can look cute, but just seeing someone in one makes me tired thinking about trying to run to the rest room and such in them! haha!

  26. I love all your picks, but I'm a sucker for a jumpsuit. I wore one to my rehearsal dinner/party before my wedding in April, and it wasn't difficult at all to "party" in. Regardless of what you decide, I know you will look fabulous!

  27. Of course I'm loving all of these SEQUIN picks! Plus, as a Jersey girl myself, I'm pretty sure it's a requirement if you're spending NYE in Jersey ;) And thanks so much for joining us with the card swap and for your sweet words with our card! We had so much fun hosting and can't wait to turn this into an annual tradtion! xoxo, - M @ The Sequin Notebook

  28. I am all about the jumpsuit. I love how it is an eloquent look but not predictable like a dress... great options! xo, Amanda

  29. I love them ALL! And this makes me so sad that my husbands friends got us tickets to a hockey game without asking us - ha! I'll have to save the sparkles for next year :(

  30. NYE is one of my favorite holidays to get all decked out! I love your picks - that pink dress especially! xx Kat

  33. The jumpsuits are so cute but you're totally right, they'll be a major pain once the inevitable New Years eve drinking starts lol So many cute dresses though!!

  34. Loved the 3rd dress and the red lace one! Sparkles and lace are both perfect for NYE!!

  35. target does it again!! love that pink dress AND that penguin is adorable. merry, merry!

    ReplyDelete
  36. These are all fabulous, it's so hard to choose! But I think I would pick the pink one or the black one with the silver sequined top, so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love all of them and really love the jumpsuit options! I like the third dress in the top row-- but I thought it was silver sparkles until I looked closer and saw it was leopard print. Still really cute-- I can't wait to see what you end up wearing!

  38. These are all great picks! I feel like you can't go wrong with a sparkly dress for NYE (:

  41. I would TOTALLY go for the pink LuLu dress. So cute!! I am trying to figure out what to wear myself. I bought a gold tank to wear with jeans and a blazer, but I don't know if I am really feeling it so much. Hmm... Cannot wait to see what you decide to wear!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love them all but my favorites are the pink dress, the black/leopard asos dress, and the lulu's red sequins jumpsuit. The jumpsuit is so sassy haha, and New Years is a perfect time to wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love all of your choices, but my favorite is the 1st and 3rd dress. The 3rd one leaves plenty of room for the sour mix bloat that always happens on a night out of partying. Not to mention, if you'll be drinking lots, you'll probably being using the ladies room lots. Jumpsuits and rompers might not be a perfect choice for that. :)

  44. Sparkle is must for NYE! I CANNOT believe the one dress is from Target and only $17! LOVE IT.

  46. Those dresses are soooo pretty!!! We are snowboarding so I won't be wearing anything like that but it has me thinking maybe I should schedule an event sometime that allows me to dress pretty for a party on NYE!

  47. I quite like the pink dress with the leaf detailing -- although I'd prefer another color. At least you included a really wide variety of options!

  53. You know what.... I haven't even thought about a NYE outfit. Shame on me! Lol. I just love the dresses you have picked out! I personally like the dresses more so than the jumpsuits!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ok I love all of them of course but I'm a dress girl more than a jump suit girl. That said, I love the first one you posted. Also my second fav is the target one! Love a good steal! Xo

  56. We're still trying to lock down NYE plans (NYC basically forces you into buying VIP otherwise you risk standing in line all night and they're crazy, crazy expensive for no reason), but I'm thinking jumpsuit is going to be the way to go! I never would have even thought to look for one, so thank you - it's the perfect alternative to completely freezing to death in a mini dress :) Excellent inspiration!

  57. So many great New Years outfits!! I especially love the black jumpsuits and burgundy romper!!! :) I love getting all dressed up for NYE, even when we just go to house parties. Hope you are having a great holiday weekend!

  59. i love every one!! Im not even a big fan of chevron and I love the chevron dress. great choices B!

  60. hahaha i love that you said lets pretend they aren't 5'10 and they'd be longer on you. prety much i always assume it will be too short on me - i'm not even 5'10 but i swear in real life they are always shorter. i don't think we are doing anything for NYE but if I was, I'd wear that third dress in the first row, holy gorgeous dress!
