Weekending | Still Thawing Out

inspirational quote
Happy Monday lovelies!!! This weekend was a doozy and had a little bit of everything. Relaxing, movie watching and celebrating a Patriots win - I'd give it an A+!!!
I had been trying to convince Gary to watch Chef with me and after Ally gave it a good review I was even more excited to watch it!! As Ally mentioned, make sure you are well fed before you watch because there is some seriously good food featured and I think I may have picked up a thing or two in the culinary sense!
Rose Arrangement
After a morning Barre class I went to Trader Joe's to pick up a few things for the Patriots game and realized fresh flowers were seriously lacking in our home. I have a fun tutorial/DIY on how we got the roses to pretty much make the most perfect arrangement I've ever created!! You'll see the flowers in a few more pictures...
Entertaining
If I ever doubted Trader Joe's for their ability to help in a pinch, it was all put to bed on Saturday!! Gary said the guys didn't really care how the food was laid out, just as long they could eat it, but they took notice because they all complemented the presentation. P.S. dark chocolate almonds are delicious!
Since we had a good three hours of the game to get through, my friend Jackie and I decided we'd let the boys have their fun and we get some manis!! I've mentioned MiniLuxe before, but this was my first time actually having a my nails done there and I loved the experience!!
We celebrated the big win by heading out to Yard House...not pictured the after party at our house playing catch phrase!
Waking up on Sunday morning I expected it would be cold, but as cold as the NORTH POLE, that was a shocker...it appears Boston warmed up during the day, but I don't believe it since it was still freezing outside!!
Just how cold was is it you ask?! Cold enough that the pond in the Public Garden has officially frozen over and I can knock walk on water off the bucket list!!
Oh and we also woke up to our heat being broken, so we found reprieve at the movies! I'm not so secretly obsessed with the Taken movies and was so excited to see the final one!! If you're on the fence it's way better than the second one, but the first is still the best! We rounded out the day with a new Blue Apron meal that I'll be sharing later this week!

The Golden Globes

The ladies were extremely daring on the red carpet this year and it was the year of white, red and sparkles if you watched!!!
Golden Globes Best Dressed
So this is not normally what I would pick for a best dressed, but Emma Stone looked incredible and let's be honest, she was probably the most comfortable woman there!
Golden Globes Best Dressed
I stuck with the usual suspects for my favorites of the nights, but seriously how flawless does Helen Mirren look?

And then just like that the weekend was over!! Did you watch the Golden Globes? How was your weekend? Hope you have a wonderful start to your week and stay warm!!

  8. I was so looking forward to the recaps of the Golden Globes this morning, alas I didn't watch (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory instead...don't be jealous!) but love seeing the outfits! That pant suit on Emma Stone is gorgeous!

And what a great weekend! Love those flowers - trader Joe's and even Whole Foods are so great for gorgeous fresh flowers to brighten up the mood inside when it's soooo cold outside. And your arranging skills are pretty impressive! Have a great week!

  9. Sounds like such a great weekend. Anything covered in chocolate is amazing haha :P

  12. You definitely had an A+ of a weekend, minus the heat being broken! Whats the mani look like? Perfect thing to do when you're not totally into the games--love a good pamper session!
Those flowers are perfect--it's amazing how a vase of flowers can just brighten a space and your mood. It's the little things for sure!
All of those dresses are STUNNING! I loved them all too!!
    Have a great Monday friend!!

  15. Those flowers are gorgeous! Definitely time for me to go to TJ's... now all I want is that truffle oil, meat and cheese, and some fresh flowers :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Haha, I love that you compared your temperature to the North Pole! I'm going to have to do that the next time that I think it's unbearably cold down here. Hope you have a great week!

  17. i loved 'chef'! such a good movie. and how can you not love TJs in a pinch? i wont have time to run to mine but rather have to run to target tonight and it's not the same. looks like a fab weekend minus the terrible cold - no bueno. happy monday girl! xo

  19. The flowers look gorgeous! It was so cold, and windy this weekend. I saw some guys playing hockey on the lake by my house. Craziness. What a win, a little too close for comfort but a win is a win.

    ReplyDelete
  20. omfg i'm so glad that deep freeze is over but tonight we have another extreme cold weather alert - going to be -19 tonight :(

also, i don't like emma stone much but man, her outfit was amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was hesitant to see Taken because it was the third but it sounds like it is actually worth it! Trader Joes' flowers always wow me- always so pretty and fresh (and cheap)!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Trader Joe's is fantastic- and those roses are just more proof of that! It was cold in Florida, too and I did not like it one bit. However, my family in Maine may have you, me, and the North Pole beat- my brother's thermometer showed it was -5 outside while his phone said it was 4. After almost 10 years south of the Mason Dixon I don't think I could handle it.... Happy Monday!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. What an amazing weekend! That meat and cheese from Trader Joe's looks amazing! I wish we had one closer to us! I can't believe it was as cold as the north pole! That's crazy! I hope you're all warmed up by now! Have a great week!

  24. Such a great weekend! Isn't this cold weather just ridiculous?! Your roses are absolutely stunning - I wish I could figure out how to make my arrangements look that good! I'm glad you enjoyed Chef - it was one of the best movies that we saw in 2014. I thought the Golden Globes were slightly boring this year (that's why I opted not to do my usual recap), but I agree with all your fashion picks! I'd also add Kate Hudson and Gwenyth Paltrow.

  25. What a fun weekend! The roses are BEAUTIFUL. I love them without any greenery. I watched Chef on a plane last fall and I loved it too. Have a great day!

  26. What a fun weekend. Those flowers are beautiful. Love MiniLuxe, i love how it doesn't smell like a nail salon. It was cold this weekend. I saw that the pond froze the other day but I was too much of a wuss to go stand on it and take a picture. Plus, I was alone, what if I fell in? LOL. Happy Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Welcome to the broken heater club! Suck. I hope it's a quick fix.

I am nervous about the frozen pond. I don't know why. LOL

Going to get a manicure while the game is on is right up my alley.

  28. This winter has been so cold everywhere! Luckily it hasn't hit North Pole temps down here in TX yet! Those flowers are so pretty. I need to get more for my house.

  29. Great pictures….except for the fact that you are a Patriots fan. I was not happy about that game. My uncle is the Ravens coach so I don't like the Patriots. But anyways I love those pretty flowers and that quote in the first picture! Happy Monday!

  30. I love Emma Stone - she really has amazing style!

And, I am all about the presentation of food too - even if it is a snack. What a wonderful idea to go get manis while they watched football!

And it has been SO cold. But, we just got a new dog, and she has had me out in the freezing temps in the morning. She loves it - I have 3 layers of clothing on - so it's okay. SORT OF! haha

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have to admit, I didn't watch the Golden Globes. Or any football. But, I do love the Yard House!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lopez, and Reese Witherspoon looked fabulous. I didn't watch any football though haha. Those roses are beautiful, gotta love Trader Joe's!! I haven't seen that movie Chef, but after watching 100 Foot Journey, maybe I'll check it out! It was arctic here over the weekend, so you weren't alone!!! I'm glad that you had a nice weekend and I hope that you are having a good day so far too. :-)

  33. Emma Stone's jumpsuit was amazing! I can't believe it was so cold you could walk on the pond! It looks like you had such a fun weekend lady!

  35. I love that you compare Boston to the North Pole! Hahaha! I mean... I'm sorry you have to live in all that cold. I thought Chef was a decent movie, but a little too full of "chef" jargon that made me lose interest in the film - and this is coming from a foodie who has worked in high-end restaurants!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Chef was showing on the plane over the holidays and now I'm so wishing I had watched it! We had a bit of a cold snap here too, but it seems to be warming up a little...but for how long, who knows! I'm excited to see Taken 3. I loved the first one and the second one was OK, so I'm excited to hear that the third doesn't disappoint. Oh, and chocolate almonds never last in this house! I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but I do love seeing what everyone wore :)

  49. Fun weekend... cold, but fun! Hope it warms up soon for you all - I mean as cold as the NORTH POLE, that's insanity!

  63. It was nine degrees one morning when I drove to work! I was like this is insane!! But now that it's in the 30s again it shockingly seems kind of warm! I am majorly craving cheese and crackers after seeing your game day spread- yum! And those flowers are so pretty! Looks like such a fun weekend- I really, really want to watch Chef now! Loved Emma Stone's outfit. I liked how different it was while still being so pretty and feminine-- even for pants! I thought there were very few really bad outfits this year- most were either really pretty or just okay.
