Style Love | Athleisure Wear

Before I get into today's post I want to take a quick moment to wish my sweet and wonderful husband a very happy birthday!! He's a one-of-a-kind man and I'm so lucky to share life with him!! Without getting too mushy...Happy Happy Birthday to my favorite person in the world!

* * * * * * * *
I've been loving this trend for a while now and anything that pairs comfort and style is a win in my book!! When three of my favorite blogging ladies (Ashley, Amanda & Ashley) posted themselves wearing the trend I decided it was time to dig a little deeper into Athleisure! Don't believe it's a word, well you're right - it's not! Something that the fashion community came up with to give a broad name to being able to wear clothes that look like they can be worn to the gym, out for a day of errands or even dressed up for a date!

I've found a couple pieces that I'm borderline obsessed with and looking for the right time to purchase!

While I'm not sure how exactly I'd pull it off without looking frumpy, this Lou & Grey jacket is at the top of my list and also these joggers. If you're like me and still not 100% sold, then these Target joggers might be the best starting point!! But how cute are the sequined pants - I mean that's dressed up right there!

Is this taking comfort too far? In my opinion, not in the least - I think if styled appropriately it's a great look! So the question is, would you wear it?

I'm also over at Shift Your Style sharing my latest Save vs. Splurge

  3. Happy Birthday to your husband! They are the best, right?

Soooo, I'm still on the fence about jogger pants. There is something mc hammerish about them. I'd have to learn how to style them right. They do look super comfy, though. Love the tunics and cardigans. I mean, athletic wear is my jam!

  5. I love the look and you selected such great inspiration pieces. I think the key is wearing heels with them so they you don't look frumpy. Makes me wish I could wear them to work... but way too much standing and walking for that. Let's see... where else could I wear them?

  6. While I like them on others, I absolutely could not pull these off!! lol xo

  12. Happy birthday Gary!!! I'm loving the jogger/atheleisure trend now (I wasn't so much before) but I can't find a pair of joggers that look good on me. I tried on those gray Target ones and they definitely didn't look right. Guess I'm back to the hunt!

  19. I think if people can pull it off - more power to them! Some looks are definitely cute, while others make me want to tell people to pull up their pants! why is the crotch so low on some of them lol. i would definitely wear them to the gym or at home, but then i have normal sweatpants for that ;) you should definitely try it - that lou & grey jacket is gorgeous! happy birthday to Gary!

  25. I got some joggers thru a blog promo with puma (yes, puma, haha) and they look sooooo awkward on me! Too long to bunch up without looking like a 5 year old in her mom's clothes haha

  26. I'm so glad the fashion industry has caught up to me. As a yoga teacher, I've rocked this look for years! And as a SAHM, this stuff is ALL I wear! So yes. Love this look, would love to see more women wear it :)

I'm not sure I could pull these off (just being so short) but I like the look! Great picks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Fabulous picks, girl! I'm with you - as long as they are high-quality pieces and styled correctly, they definitely can look chic and not sloppy. Also, happy birthday to Gary!

  31. I absolutely love the jogger pant look! I just got a pair at Old Navy and actually wore them out to dinner last night.. the ones I have are a bit more sweatpant looking so very casual. I want to add a nice looking pair so I can dress them up a bit more!

  32. I am ALL for this look - as long as it's done right! I fully support any style that lets me wear my workout clothes out in public :) Happy Birthday to your husband!

  36. Happy Birthday to your hubby! You are too cute! I love this style! It is a bit out of my comfort zone but I am digging it.

  37. I have weird pair of pants that I like to call my "lady trousers". They aren't as casual as some of the dressy sweats, but they're like fitted pajama pants. Haha, I feel a little like a grandma when I wear them, but they are so comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love this idea of dressing comfortable, but chic...isn't that what most of us want anyways?! I'll definitely be trying out the whole sweatpants and heels look :)

  43. I thought this look would be great for travel because it looks so comfy but I always struggle with what shoes I would wear because I'm not a heels kinda girl. The flats looks cute with them, though!

    Happy birthday to Gary!

  44. I love this trend, agree with Paige above me that it's a great idea for travel!

  45. Not a fan. I think anything that looks like sweatpants or lounge attire with heels looks ridiculous. I'm definitely not a fashionista though.

  54. Happy Birthday to Gary! This is a big birthday week for you! I'm all for this style! I got a pair of pants that I usually wear just as sweat pants (not dressed up) but they look really similar to the Lord & Taylor pair, so I'm sure if I could figure out how I could maybe dress them up!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm on the fence about these also but they look so comfy! I'm not tall, so I'm not really sure I could pull them off but they are cute!

  64. I bought a pair of joggers when they were first becoming a "thing" but it took me FOREVER to work up the nerve to actually wear them. Now, I love them - if only because they're basically pajamas that are acceptable to wear in public. :)
