Weekending | Florida Edition

Happy Monday and Happy February!! Apologies for the silence on the blog at the end of last week, but you probably realized I made it out of Boston and to sunny Florida for a weekend trip with my sister, nieces and nephew to visit our family!!

Leaving the sun for the snow is never fun and having to cut my trip a day short because of another snow storm we’re getting today is even worse, but let’s be real no one wants to read about weather so let’s share the highlights!

We got in on Thursday and spent some time catching up with my grandmas and my parents. I also managed to play a little tennis with the kids, which was so much fun and I also realized I need to find a club to play at here in Boston!!

Friday morning we hit the beach with the kids and funny enough were the only ones there! That was until my niece and I were scoured out to be interviewed for the local news!!

Sorry the photo is grainy, but I screen grabbed it from my dad’s video! Won’t bore you with the link since the story was a rather bleak one about pelicans being intentionally killed at the beach…my niece was the real star of the show and ended the clip that was aired by pleading “please stop hurting them” – cutest thing ever!!

That night my friends and I went to Moxie, a relatively new restaurants that recently opened in Jacksonville! The menu was a little on the eclectic side, but with built in southern comfort dishes!! The wedge salad was hands down the best one I’ve ever had!!

After dinner we made our way to Ovinte Wine Bar and even though it was a chilly night for Jacksonville, we couldn’t help but sit outside and enjoy the weather! Especially since 2 of the 4 girls were escaping the snow!!

Lunch on Saturday was a little different than normal since I got to share it with three of the cutest little girls ever!! Renee (mother of twins!!), Abbey (cutie on the right is hers) and I all went to high school together and we were busy reminiscing about the good ol’ days, while the girls were all babbling on about their days!! It was pretty surreal to be with girls I’ve known for over 10 years and then to see them as wonderful moms!!

Before dinner on Saturday – we stopped by my aunt and uncles house and of course my mom will never pass up an opportunity to play with a cute pup!! You can’t really tell in the photo, but Teddy is a golden doodle and is just the most rambunctious pup!!

My cousin and her husband treated me to dinner at Seasons 52 and the lobster flatbread was the perfect pairing to my Moscow Mule – and finally in the proper cup! All three of us were pleasantly surprised to get a little serenading at the bar with their in house entertainment! We may or may not have asked for him to sing “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt… at least he tried! With individual servings of freshly prepared desserts, I’ll definitely be visiting our Boston location

It was the perfect end to a wonderful, but short trip! A few things not pictured…

+shopping and picking up this cute Loft Peplum Top at 40% off

+ lots of family down time and seeing the grandmas, even though all the good photos are on my sister’s camera

+taking photos for my first pseudo fashion shoot

+all the kids and my sister coming down with a nasty cold as we left on Sunday…here’s hoping I’ve been taking enough vitamin C to combat it!!

Both Gary and I were flying back on Sunday from different locations and made it back in time to plop down on the couch and watch the Patriots in the SuperBowl!!

Highlights include:

+Cutest commercial:  Budweiser and the puppy! Every single year they get me!!

+Tie for the funniest commercial goes to Mindy Kaling and the Doritos guy on the flight – love,

+ Got me misty eyed: Dove “Daddy” commercial!!

+Missy Elliott looking incredible at the half time show

And THE PATRIOTS WINNING THE SUPER BOWL!!! Even if you’re not a fan, if you watched the last 2 minutes they were not only entertaining, it was just outrageous!!

Hope you guys have a great start to your week and feel free to link-up below to share it with us!!

Woohoo, so glad you made it down to sunny Flrodia. Sorry for all the hassle, that's no fun, but you're so positive I know you didn't let it stress you or bring you down :)!

All of the food looks amazing, lobster flatbread is one of my all time favorites, yum! Isn't it fun when you stay close to high school friends and times change from bars and shopping to hang in out at home with kids? I love it, especially since I get to give the kids back ;)!

That's awesome you were able to get back in time for the game, I know how stoked you and Gary were to have your team win. This game was kind of a snoozefest until the last quarter then it was, wow, wow, wow! I agree on your commercial picks, Mindy's was hilarious and the puppy one had me crying.

Have a great Monday, lovely friend!
