Weekending | Snowed In

Happy Monday!! No shock here, it was another snowy weekend in Boston and we were snowed in once again on Sunday!! In just 3 1/2 weeks we have had 4 storms and 7 feet of snow...it's safe to say Gary and I may be contemplating a move to the South!! Regardless of the weather we still managed to have a great weekend and it's a three day weekend for me so there's that!!

Watched

It was a weekend of lot's of movie watching, starting with 50 Shades of Grey on Thursday night! I checked a few theaters in Boston and apparently it was being shown a day ahead of the national release so we ventured out to see it! I wont go on in detail about the movie...but we'll just leave it at I liked it and I thought it was tastefully done!! If you want to read what an 83 year old grandma thought about the movie check it out here! We also watched Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal & I actually hand't heard anything about the movie, but it was really interesting! He was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor and seriously deserved it because he plays creepy all too well!

Enjoyed

For Valentine's Day we decided to head out early and get some brunch at Eastern Standard. It was so nice not having to fight the crowds - definitely starting a new tradition of brunch on Valentine's Day! I didn't even get a picture of the egg concoction that I ate, but it was incredible!
We probably should have waited for them to clear our plates, but we took advantage of there not being anyone to our left!
After all the indulging it was time to walk off brunch! Gary clearly needed to show off and dove right into the snow...I also made myself comfortable and created a makeshift snow bench!
Cards, flowers and not shown is the bag of Mint Milano cookies that was devoured by the both of us this weekend! For dinner we agreed to try a try a new recipe from The Newlywed Cookbook and it was delicious - recipe coming this week!

Keeping Busy

Everyone always asks what do you do in a snow storm? Well you eat,  a lot!!! Not to mention it gives you a lot of time for blogging and cleaning...so the house is clean and the blog has been worked on! I also spent a lot of time getting to know my new computer!!! My Mac was just not cutting it for what I needed to do and we upgraded with a seriously amazing sale that Microsoft was having!! You'll notice I already put that xoxo screensaver I mentioned last week! I may or may not have hugged it at one point this weekend...it's touch screen and that makes me really happy!
Around 4:00, we were going a little stir crazy so decided to venture outside...mistake number 1!! It's really beautiful, but way too cold! We quickly realized home was way better!

Also, huge thank you to everyone who entered my Talaria Flats giveaway last week - the winner is Kate and I'll be emailing you shortly!

slightly obsessed with this

Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week and link up below to share your weekends with us!!

  1. Oh my goodness, all the snow! ALL.THE.SNOW! I was in Texas this weekend and it was so deliciously warm, I can't imagine how y'all up north are still sane. Glad you were able to get out for Vday and had a great celebration. Woohoo for the new computer! :)

I agree, it's all about eating, tv watching and cleaning during snow days!

  2. I'm going to see 50 Shades today - can't wait!
So sick of snow but happy it happened on a weekend!

  3. man, you guys are getting hammered with so much snow!! usually that's us so it's strange to see other places outside of canada getting all that snow. the maritimes are getting buried under a huge storm; a blogger i follow has been IGing pics of her mailbox outside and every hour you see less and less of her mailbox LOL. then her final pic: mailbox buried. guess i'm not getting mail anytime soon hahahah

    stay warm!

  4. North Carolina is about to join you in the snow department. I mean, not 7 feet but we're supposed to get 4-6 inches - which is a big deal around here. I'm so excited for movies and time to blog and clean! Looks like you two had a great Valentines!!

  5. Wow!! Look at all that snow!!
Born and raised in Florida and I just get so jealous of all the snow photos. Why I moved to Australia and not Sweden I'll never know.
We watched Nightcrawler a few weeks ago and I definitely agree, Jake Gyllenhall plays creepy really well! I can see why he was nominated for best actor. Although we watched The Theory of Everything on Sunday and Eddie Redmayne played Stephen Hawking so wonderfully that I actually felt I was watching a person go through life suffering from the disease. I think he might be a lock in for best actor this year.

  6. Whoa, y'all have an insane amount of snow! I bet you wouldn't mind our predicted snowfall today of 1-2". That's reason enough to move down south, right? Hope y'all thaw out soon & enjoy your day off today!

  7. I think Brunch is much better than trying to beat the crowds. Looks like a cute place too. I didn't brave the cold much either, it got super windy on Sunday. Movies, and too much food sounds about right! ;)

  8. Well look at all that snow!!! They were predicting winter weather for us the last week and now we might just get a cold rain. I would love to see it snow just once. No ice though. Haha! So I guess better nothing than the mess we had last year.

Looks like you guys had a great weekend! Lots of movies and food sounds perfect to me. Have a great week!

  9. I hope everyone stays warm and safe! But despite the weather it looks like a great weekend! I love brunch but skip the drinks because I'll sleep the day away, haha!

  10. Holy snow girl! That is crazy...but pretty! Hope you guys are staying warm. I want to see 50 Shades but I dont think I can see it in the theater without feeling super uncomfortable LOL! Glad to hear it was good though. And Valentine's Day brunch sounds like a fabulous tradition. I might have to steal that from you guys! Happy Monday love!

  14. I had not seen that interview and LOVED it! I thought the movie was better than the book. I too cried during that final scene, but I'm a crier at a lot of things. Look at all of that snow and brunch for Valentine's Day sounds fabulous!

  17. What an amazing weekend...even with the snow! Looks like you guys made the most of it - movies, brunch and time with the computer would be my ideal snowy weekend as well =) And I might need to know what you didn't like about your MAC, I have been contemplating one (a new laptop in general) but I've always used microsoft products and thought it would be a big transition. Have a great week!

  18. Oh my goodness, all that snow is crazy!! You guys are great sports about it though, looks like you are making the most of it! Glad you had a great Valentine's! :)

  19. This weather is not fit to go out in. My face almost froze off coming in to work this morning.

I couldn't use a MAC for regular use. Too many years of non-MAC use, even though I had one for work for a while.

  20. I'm glad you made the best of your snowy weekend! I'm definitely going back to read what the 83 year old woman thought of 50 shades of grey hahaha! So happy you had a wonderful Valentine's day and even got to play in the snow! Happy Monday!

  28. You SHOULD move to the South, we'd love to have you! My sister moved back to Boston this weekend. In the snow. She said it was horrible to move during that... Well duh! Yay for V-day brunches, we did the same!

  34. Goodness, I LOVE the quote at the top of this post! I'm on the east coast of Canada and we got pummelled with snow and freezing rain and terrible weather this weekend as well. I'm also considering moving south if winter doesn't let up soon! Hope you have a great week! :)

Love that you guys went to brunch on V-Day, awesome tradition to start and we may have to copy you guys!

I couldn't be happier to hear you say that all this snow is hopefully pushing you guys back down this way. My mom is beyond over it, and proclaims this is her absolute last winter up there, so don't be surprised if she hops into your moving truck ;-)

  39. here's how i know you've lived here way longer than me. you actually went outside. hahaha. ok, in my defense, i did go outside, but only to clean my car off. and my god i was out there for an hour. i feel ya on being snowed in though -- our house is ridiculously clean, i got blog posts ready to go, i read a bunch of cookbooks, cooked a ton of stuff...and yeah...it's actually not too bad!!

Valentine's Brunch sounds perfect -- Stephen and I did a late dinner which was a lot of fun, but we may have to try brunch next year. Happy Monday!

Started around 6am and hasn't let up... they are calling for up to 10", which I know is nothing compared to what's going on in the Northeast but for us, it's big!! ;) I think brunch is a great way to celebrate Vday and avoid some of the chaos that night!

My fiance's company was really encouraging us to relocate because they've got some big projects there, but after this winter, I don't think I am brave enough for it! As much as I hate the winter, I'd be okay with one more snow to play outside in with my sweetie. We haven't had a chance yet, and there was only one "real" snowfall in Chicago so far!
