While B’s on vacation enjoying the sandy beaches, getting bronzed and living the life of a VS Angel (they just shot the VS Swimsuit edition in Puerto Rico), we too can have some fun by partaking in our own staycation. I've put together the following tips outlining my ideal staycation. Come sail away with me!
1. Anchors away! Time to Explore
Visiting a new place, a restaurant, museum, gym, local city or town will be a new and different experience, almost as if I was somewhere far far away. I have been meaning to visit Barry’s Bootcamp, which isn't doable during a normal weekday due to its location, but would work great on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I am so used to my regular gym that joining in with a new group at a different gym with classes I've never tried would surely be a new and exciting experience. Fun little tid bit: Kim Kardashian frequents Barry's Bootcamp, so you know it must be good!
2. Relax & Refresh
After I get a workout in and explore, my second favorite staycation must do is to relax! I would love to try a spa on Newbury Street in Boston called G2O. This spa offers a variety of luxurious treatments as well as features a skylight hot tub, brine inhalation therapy room, an experience room which combines herbal infused steam and an ice fog shower, based on an exotic Bali experience! I mean that to me just screams, "I'm on vacation!"
3. Tropical Libations!
One of my favorite vacation clothing staples is a pair of Lilly shorts with a hot pink cocktail print. My staycation wouldn’t be complete without a fruity drink that is reminiscent of my favorite outfit! I love muddled fruit cocktails and the best part is they are nutritious (in their own way)!
Enjoying my drinks with a champagne float and a fun straw is a must. In fact, I might just take a picture and instagram my gorgeous concoction #cocktail #beachy # #staycation #cheers!
4. Life’s a Beach
Even though I might not be at the beach right now, a staycation is the perfect opportunity to get bikini ready for when I finally do hit the beach or pool this summer. If I can't make it to Barry's Bootcamp then I opt for one of Sarah Dussault’s amazing fitness videos. She is an amazing fitness blogger who I have been following for years! I noticed, a video called “butt and cleavage workout” there is no question what this work out is designed for, exactly the areas that need focus!
Another perk of the beach is an inevitable tan. The best way to fake like I've bronzing for a few days is by using self tanner! Of course it’s important to protect our skin from the dreaded rays that cause photo-aging (and wrinkles) and opt for the second best thing: self tanner. I recommend Vita Liberata Gradual Tan. The lotion goes on clear so you can apply any time of day without worry of looking brown and muddy if you head out to go shopping or grab coffee with a friend.
Another tanner I recommend is a new product from Jergens, Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse. Unlike the Vita Liberata which is gradual, you will become several shades darker after just one application. However, I recommend applying at night as this mousse is tan colored and will not look normal until you have taken a shower the next morning.
5. Because even staycations must come to an end…
To cap off the end of a perfect staycation I plan to sit back and let my tan develop while scoping out Pinterest for Spring styling ideas. I like to evaluate pieces I already own and use my pins to figure what additional pieces or accessories I may need to complete a look that's new to me.
Creating new looks to wear on the weekend or to work will give you a similar satisfaction of packing and wearing a vacation wardrobe, at least that's what I keep telling myself. A few items that are on my must have list are a fedora, a gold beaded necklace, and the perfect pair of white pants!
I hope you enjoy these Staycation tips as much as I do! What's your idea of the perfect Staycation?
