Weekending | Puerto Rico Edition

Happy Monday lovelies!!! Coming back from vacation is always hard, coming back from absolute paradise to cold weather is even harder!! When your schedule goes a little something like...wake up, eat, pool, eat, beach, eat & repeat, its hard to come back to reality! I'm so excited to recap my few days off from blogland and share some highlights from my trip to Puerto Rico! Warning...picture heavy!

Wednesday//
We left Boston bright and early and were greeted by palm trees and sunny weather upon arriving in San Juan! We stayed at El San Juan Hotel, literally cannot recommend this hotel enough!! It's one of the main hotels in San Juan and boasts 7 different restaurants, a casino, nightlife that rivals Vegas (more on that later), three incredible pools and direct beach access!! You can see why I was sold!!
hi-lo maxi skirt//clutch
Before dinner the first night we wanted to get a glimpse of the gorgeous sunset - so we headed down to the pool to check it out - and obviously had a photo op!
Our dinner was out of this world incredible at Meat Market Miami located inside the hotel! Even if you don't stay at this hotel, please try to eat here!! The food probably ranks as top 5 meals I've ever had...lobster risotto & gouda stuffed tater tots is all I have to say!

Thursday//
After a rather interesting start to the day with the hotel pet iguana, seriously this thing was huge, we decided to venture to the Ritz Carlton Ocean Bar + Grill. Hearing great things from a lot of people, we wanted to try it out, but in reality...it was a tad overpriced as you would imagine! The food was good, but not nearly as good as some other restaurants we tried! If you like people watching check it out! Clearly we were exhausted because we ended up taking an hour nap in the hammocks at our resort...a daily occurrence I might add!
Clearly this isn't Gary & me...but our photos from Bio Bay aren't available yet and I wanted to share what the bay looked like!! We booked our tour through Pure Adventure and they were fantastic! The tour is in Fajardo, which is about an hour and 15 minutes from San Juan. You kayak through a mangrove and then about an hour later are out in the open bay to see these organisms that light up when you put your hands in the water. The colors weren't quite as vibrant as the picture above, but it was still such an amazing experience!! If you plan on going in the summer you're in luck because apparently the colors are more vibrant and it also helps if there is a full moon!

Friday//
We played tourist for most of the day enjoying the bright sights of Old San Juan. As you can imagine it has so much history within a few square miles and we soaked it all in!!
It was brutally hot that day so we skipped the forts and opted for a shortened tour of the grounds.
That night we had dinner at La Piccola Fotana, an Italian restaurant in our hotel...fresh lobster ravioli, yep I inhaled it and I'm not sorry about it!! The entertainment at our hotel was amazing!! Live music every single night in the hotel lobby and that night was salsa night!

Saturday//
We were torn between touring El Yunque Forest or just relaxing on our last day...relaxing won out!
After getting a little too much color our final feast was at Koko, an authentic Caribbean restaurant in the hotel. Another meal that left me wondering how I was going to make it back Boston without being rolled here!! After losing a whopping $40 at the casino we called it a night, or so we thought!! With everything that El San Juan Hotel offers it's guests, it also offers a ton to the people that live in the city, including one of the only clubs in San Juan and lots of live concerts that happened to be going on this past weekend. With that being said, it was a rather loud night and with a 3:00 AM wake up call it left a pretty cranky Biana! The hotel quickly fixed the problem and after all was said and done we had an incredible time!!
Phew...if you made it through this post thank you!! If you have any questions about San Juan or our trip please let me know - happy to answer anything!! Please forgive me while I spend the rest of the week dreaming of sunsets!!

Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week and hope you'll share your weekend with me and Meghan!!

  25. Beautiful pictures lady!! Your hotel looks very nice. That's disappointing to hear about the Ritz because usually their restaurants have good food. Some are definitely better than others though. Like the one in Singapore had incredible food. Anyway... Love all of your maxi dresses, and Gary rocks that hat too! :-) Glad that you two had a great time!!! :-)

  31. I'm so glad you had such a fabulous time! The hotel looks amazing and that kayak tour sounds incredible. I would love to explore the streets of Old San Juan! I laughed about spending $40 at the casino. I'm the same way. I'm really confident when I play my first $20, but if I get up to $40 then I'm done! I would just feel sick otherwise. You look stunning in all of these pictures!
