How to Fake False Lashes

How to Fake False Lashes
I have a confession to make- I can't wear false lashes!! They feel so uncomfortable to me and I also start blinking way more than normal if I have them on! Over the last few years I've been able to fake falsies with four makeup products and one trick that makes all the difference.
How to Fake False Lashes
Step 1: Before priming your lashes - curling them is step one. I use the Tarte one from the perfect duo set.
Step 2: This to me makes all the difference! The primer is a must for lengthening and priming those lashes!  I change between Origins Underwear for lashes and Clinique's Lash Primer. You'll notice I'm pointing to the wrong eye :)
How to Fake False Lashes
Step 3: For the mascaras I use Maybelline Lash Sensational and Benefit's They're Real. You could use any of your two favorite mascaras's, but I like using a lengthening mascara and one that gives volume which both of these do! I have to hit a tangent and say that Maybelline's Lash Sensational is literally my favorite drug store mascara ever!! I'm on my third tube and everything from the formula to the wand is perfect!
How to Fake False Lashes
Step 4: To finish you want to take your thumb or pointer finger and push your lashes back. The heat from your finger sets the mascara in place and gives it even more curl. I learned this little trick from one of the makeup artists at Sephora and have used it ever since!
How to Fake False Lashes
Once you've finished these four steps your lashes will be long, curled and voluminous! If you look closely you can see that my lashes reach my eyebrows!

Do you have any secrets to great lashes? What's your favorite mascara?

  2. Great tips! I love mascara - it makes the biggest impact I think! I always fan out my lashes on the outside corner and always coat the top and underside of the lashes for extra definition!

  3. Great make-up tips. Lately, I just keep buying all kinds of different mascaras to try new brands and compare them to the others I've used. I still think Estee Lauders Mascara gave me the best definition and length.

  14. I only do fake lashes for events and special occasions... and they bug me. One corner is always popping up, just one. These are great tips! I love Benefit's They're Real, works wonders on my stubby lashes, just a little pricey for my single Mom budget. Will def be trying your drug store fave!

  22. Yes!! Love these tips! Your lashes are amazing and I've never even heard of that Maybelline mascara. I've been loving Tarte's amazonian clay mascara I swear my lashes are twice as thick as normal as they aren't falling out anymore! I definitely need a primer though! Im pinning this post! xo

  24. Your lashes look perfect, and so long! I am happy I read this before putting on my makeup today, definitely going to have to try some of these steps, especially the one where you push them back. My favorite has been Tarte's Gifted, I've been using it for years and have noticed that I lose significantly less lashes.

Anyways.. fab tutorial!!! Your lashes look amazing and I like that lip color that you are wearing. Thank you so much for sharing!! :-)

  28. That tip about pushing your lashes back and up with your finger as a final step is genius! I definitely will be doing that from here on out. I'm with you on doubling up on mascara - my favorite combo is CoverGirl's LashBlast Volume and Clump Crusher formulas. You look gorgeous in these photos!

  29. I am with you - I cannot do fake lashes! I did them for my wedding and that was it - I wasn't even really a fan of the feeling then. Benefit's They're Real is my absolute favorite - I could see a huge difference when I started using that.

  30. I love that final tip! I never had to worry about curling my eyelashes until I got extensions. After those fell out my eyelashes grew out straight!

  53. Beautiful! Unfortunately, I am WAY afraid of eyelash curlers! As in, I NEVER use them, eeek!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love the tip about using your fingers! In high school, one of my friends taught me to hit the curler with a hair dryer for a few seconds to get it hot. That helps with the initial curl...but setting it is even better! I have loved both of those mascaras.

  55. Gorgeous, girl! Curling my lashes is a total gamechanger, I do it pretty much every day. And for fancy occasions I definitely use the primer and two-mascara trick also. Never tried the fingertip tip though, that's a good one! Thanks for sharing :)

  60. I'd never heard of the finger trick before. I'll for sure try that! I love Makeup Forever's mascara. It curls my lashes while I'm applying it and makes them look so much longer!

  70. Your eyelashes look amazing! My younger sister always heats up her eyelash curler just a bit with her blow dryer. Well I tried it and I guess I got it too warm, because I ended up burning my eye lid. Whoops! Your method looks much safer for me. Haha! :)

  71. Totally agree with you about Maybelline's Lash Sensational. I can't give that stuff enough praise! I don't need false lashes with that stuff, it's stunning. I do like Better than Sex mascara, but it's pricey and I feel like it dries up more than I'd like it to. I'm totally the same when it comes to false lashes. I love the way they look on other people, but I haven't found ones that don't make me blink uncontrollably. (;
