Fourth of July Inspiration

Last year the Fourth of July was rained out and we were gearing up for our trip to Europe, so to say I wasn't really thinking of BBQ's and parties would be an understatement. This year however is a different story - we have a three day weekend ahead and a fun BBQ to attend, so what to wear is at the top of my list this week!
// If I really don't want to think about my outfit, this nautical romper is perfect for the weekend!
// I have been loving off the shoulder pieces and this Vince Camuto one is no exception - I actually like that it's a bit longer because I'm willing to bet it wont be as warm as we think it will be in Boston and I'll end up wearing jeans!
//What I'll never tire of are big floppy hats and this blue straw one is perfect if you are planning to head to the beach!
// The intricacy on this blouse is so pretty and there is just a hint of floral in the embroidered pattern
// While I am not going to be sporting the American flag in any of my clothing, I think these sunglasses are so fun and for only $12 totally worth it! I mean I can think of at least two holiday's to wear them!
//When in doubt just add a bold red lip and you're good to go! My favorite is Pomegranate by Bite Beauty! Without a doubt the most flattering red color for almost all skin tones!

Bringing something for the host is a must - it doesn't have to break the bank, but showing your thanks for the invite and for them opening their home to you is always best and most appreciated!
// You can pull a Ramona Singer and bring your favorite bottle of wine to share with the hosts - my favorite is Relax Riesling! You can also add a special touch to the wine bag by adding a really cute wine tag
//With that bottle of wine bring some cute napkins like this pack of 20 from Swoozies.
//Bring something pre-made is always a nice touch. This red, white and blue salad is perfect because you can make it the morning of the event and it wont spoil!
//It's pretty likely that you're headed to a BBQ this holiday weekend, so treat the host to some grilling rub! I'm 100% sure they'll be excited to add a little something extra to their grilling repertoire.
//Headed to a pool party - bring this donut floatie that you have seen everywhere!! I actually didn't realize it was only $15!!
What are your plans for the Fourth of July? Do you already know what you'll be wearing?

Weekending Snaps

Happy Monday friends! It was another quiet weekend with a little excitement thrown in the middle! This weekend we...

Watched ||

With laid back and gloomy weekends comes lots of movie watching! Friday night we rented The Loft on Friday night and it was actually a really good thriller! McFarland USA was just the most perfect feel good movie to watch!! I always love the true athletic stories that Disney puts out and this was right up there with Remember the Titans!

Enjoyed||

I'm a huge fan of cider and it's as closed to beer as I'll get to drink! We headed to Bantam Cider's tasting room in Somerville on Saturday. They don't have much of a "tour" but their "flight" of tasting 5 different cider's is only $10 and the pours are very fair!! It was a fun way to spend an afternoon and who doesn't like sharing cider with friends?!

Ate||

After someone mentioned Bonefish Grill in their favorites last week, I had to make my way to one of the only locations in Massachusetts! As usual the bang bang shrimp was amazing and their lobster pizza was a nice change from my usual...but just wanted to share a little warning with you all! Gary ordered the pad thai which usually doesn't come with any type of nut and sadly they changed their menu recently and added macadamia nuts to a recipe that doesn't call for them - they also list them out on the menu so there was that! Gary had a slight allergic reaction, but since I know so many of you might frequent Bonefish beware of the new menu additions...all is good just not the ideal Saturday night we were hoping for!

Shopped||

I found the most perfect pair of jeans this weekend at Gap. The girlfriend jeans are just as great as the tight fitting skinnies, but have the relaxed feel of boyfriend jeans! They really are the perfect fit!

Prepared||

Sunday was a pretty gloomy day with on and off rain, but we were meeting with our newest bride and of course that brings enough light into any day! I also managed to sneak in a manicure and started to prep for the Summer and rest of the year with my new Bando planner!!

Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week and link up below to share your weekends with us!

Friday Favorites | Last One for June

Happy Friday everyone! Hard to believe it's the weekend again, but this week flew by!! It's been a busy past few days for me and as you read in my post yesterday, I'm looking forward to my sushi and a glass of my Riesling tonight!! Linking up with Amanda to share my favorites from the week!

Favorite Song||

I'm not even sure where this kid Shawn Mendes came from, but the song Stitches has been on repeat for me all week! I can't help but bop around to it! I also can't figure out who his voice reminds me of!

Favorite Recipe||

I know some of you are not seafood fans so you can just leave the shrimp off or add chicken/steak to this cobb salad recipe!! It looks incredibly fresh and I love the addition of goat cheese!!

Favorite New App||

Breather Space
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that we hosted a meeting this week at one of Breather's spaces in Boston. They tote it as a place to work or unwind. You can book the spaces in 30 minute intervals which is perfect for meetings with clients if you don't have an office space yet or if you just need a place to work that isn't as noisy as a Starbucks! We had a tiny issue with wifi, but it was quickly resolved and being able to enjoy the space for two uninterrupted hours was great. They are currently in 5 cities right now, but if you happen to be one of those cities use the code "BLOVEDBOSTON" for one free hour to test out the space! My business partner and I have already agreed that we're using this space for our next client meeting!

Favorite Idea ||

So I've been toying with the idea of changing my hair, but I don't want to color it before I "need" to and I'm not ready to do a drastic cut - so you're probably thinking well that doesn't leave you with many options...au contraire!! Enter in extensions!! Obviously I'm not using these for length but for color! What are your thoughts? I'm really drawn to the ombrè and love the Luxy Brand because of the hair that they use and how long the extensions last - they are not permanently put it, just clipped in. Have you ever used extensions before?

Love/Hate Tag

You may have seen the Love/Hate tag floating around blogland and I've been tagged by a few great ladies including Amanda, Nikki , Claire & Andrea so it's high time I participated!

Loves ||

1. Sushi!!! My husband jokes that he never in his life thought he would eat as much sushi as he has with me in the last 5 years!! It's a weekly meal for me, usually on Friday and yes I realize that makes me super predictable!

2. Bags!! Big, small, tote, cross body - doesn't matter I have a serious love affair with purses!

3. A glass of Relax Riesling on a Friday night

4. Exclamation points!! I use them all the time and don't think I use periods unless I'm in a work setting and even then I have to force myself to use a period! (see exclamation point)

5. Office supplies - specifically pens and stationary. I don't think I can say no to a great pen or a pretty notebook.

6. Travelling to a new place - there is something so fun about exploring and let's be real having a break from reality.

7. Event planning - more specifically wedding planning! Being able to see my dream job come to life this year has been unbelievable!

8. Seeing my nieces and nephew grow up. Being so close to them is pretty special and they are at the age when hanging out with them is more than just babysitting - it's actually listening to their thoughts and opinions and they are just so much fun!

9. Instagram - my husband once asked why I liked it so much and my only response was " I just like looking at pretty things" the same can be said for Pinterest

10. Blogging! I never in my life thought that I would become so consumed (in a good way) with blogging, but here we are almost 2 years later and I don't remember what it was like before I had this little space. The best plus has been all the amazing people I've been able to meet.

11. BONUS! I added this one in because I think it's the best feeling! Having a really great workout - one that makes you want to workout more!

Hates (more so pet peeves than hate)||

1. Being late and more so when people are late to meet me! If I take the time to be on time, I expect that same from them.

2. People that don't understand the proper etiquette when community on the train. This is especially evident when people don't take their backpacks off on the train, don't let other's off before they try to get on the train and a slew of other things I could literally rant on and on about - oh and I did in this post

3. Leaving the house with the weather being absolutely perfect only to try to make it home in torrential downpours - this one is sort of on me because I should check the weather more carefully!

4. Chipped nails on me! I can't stand having the tiniest of chips on my nails - I need to take all the polish off immediately - it's honestly the strangest thing!

5. How much social media has infiltrated our lives to the point where I need to actually force myself to not reach for my phone at dinner!! I think I'm getting better at disconnecting at night, but still not to where I'd like to be.

6. When telemarketers call. I don't think this needs further explanation.

7. Being so hungry that nothing sounds good. Does this happen to anyone else?

8. Clipping nails in public, specifically at work. I don't know how anyone can think it's appropriate to do this.

9. When a fork (or any utensil) scrapes the dish and makes a terrible sound that permeates through my entire body and gives me chills.

10. When the fire alarm in our apartment goes off. I go into panic mode and start waving pillows back and forth like a crazy woman!!

Do we have any of the same loves and hates in common? What are some quirky things you want to share?

Color Crush | Hot Pink

While I consider myself to be very girly I don't have a lot of pink in my wardrobe, accessories or really anything in my life. Recently I have become so drawn to pink, including a serious hunt for a bright pink bag that has been eluding me for months now!! Side note - did you know yesterday was National Pink Day?!
via
Here's what I've got my eye on!
Pink Color Crush
Bite Beauty Lip Pencil || I love their lip pencils because not only are they highly pigmented, but the color stays on for a long time. I'm torn between Corvina and Bouquet which is a lighter pink.

Avery Crossbody || This color must be popular because it's sold out everywhere except for on Rebecca Minkoff's actual site. I think the bag would actually be great because the last thing is I need is another large tote and the size of this one is perfect! While perusing the website I also found this incredibly fun fringe cross body and I'm right back to square one!

Flamingo Blouse || Zelle posted this fun blouse on Monday and I've been obsessed ever since! I can see it paired with jeans, white pants or even a pencil skirt for work! The possibilities are endless and for this reason I think it would be a great purchase.

Pink Sneakers || These are definitely not training shoes, but more so for light training or even great for travel when you're going to be doing a lot of walking! You really can't beat the price for under $30!!

Pink Blazer || I have a light pink blazer that I've worn to work a few times, but it's a bit more casual and probably wont last more than one season, but this tweed blazer is perfect for work and would look great paired with jeans! Another piece that I think I'll get a lot of wear out of!

Cedar Street Wallet || If I don't end up getting a pink bag, the least I can do is look into my purse and see a bright pink wallet!! I love big wallets and this Kate Spade one wraps around which is always a perk.

Here's my "pinkspiration!"

Tasty Eats | Salmon Burgers from Blue Apron

Salmon Burgers | Blue Apron
It happened again - we had an amazing experience with our Blue Apron delivery last week and all three of our meals were gourmet quality! Not only were these meals ridiculously good, but I wanted to share our favorite one - Salmon Burgers with Creme Fraiche Sauce and Potato Salad so that you could recreate it at home!
Salmon Burgers | Blue Apron

What You'll Need

|| 1 8 ounce Salmon Fillet
|| 2 Potato Buns (Burger Buns)
|| 2 Garlic Cloves
||1 Lemon
||½ Pound red potatoes
|| 1 Bunch of Mint
|| 2 tablespoons of capers
|| 1 Shallot
||  ¼ Cup of Breadcrumbs
|| ⅓ Cup of Creme Fraiche

Time and time again what keeps me coming back to Blue Apron are the perfectly portioned meals without having to waste any  ingredients and that the meals are all healthy with this one being 700 calories.
Salmon Burgers | Blue Apron
Step 1: Preheat the over to 450° - place the salmon skin side down and drizzle with olive oil and season with Salt & Pepper to taste. Roast in the oven for 10-12 minutes - I kept mine in a little longer at 15. Using a spatula carefully lift the salmon off its skin and in a bowl flake the roasted salmon with a fork into small pieces. It'll look like tuna!

Step 2: While the salmon is roasting, bring a medium pot of water to a boil.
  • Halve the buns
  • peel and mince the garlic
  • quarter the potatoes
  • pick the mint off the stems
  • roughly chop the capers
  • using a peeler remove the rind of the lemon to get 2 teaspoons of zest
  • quarter and de-seed the lemon
  • peel and mince the shallot
  • place the minced shallot in a bowl with the juice of all 4 lemon wedges - season with salt and pepper

Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine the creme fraiche, shallot-lemon juice mixture and half of the mint (roughly chopped) - season with salt and pepper

Step 4: Add the potatoes to the water and cook for 13 minutes or until tender. Drain thoroughly and return to the pot, but make sure it's off the heat. Add the caper and half of the creme fraiche sauce. Stir to combine and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5: While the potatoes are cooking, add the breadcrumbs, garlic, lemon zest and remaining mint (roughly chopped). Gently mix to combine. Form the mixture into two thick patties by squeezing firmly to ensure that they are tightly packed.

Step 6: Add the patties and cook for 3 minutes per side or until golden. Transfer them to a paper towel after thoroughly cooked.
Step 7: Carefully wipe the same pan and toast the buns. To create the finished product add the cooked patty to the bun and add the remaining creme fraiche sauce equally to each burger.

And then you are ready to enjoy!!

Weekending | The First of Summer

Welcome to Summer friends!!! I hope this weekend was spent with friends, family and doing things outside!! This was the first weekend in a while that each day was our own and we couldn't have been happier. Here's what I got up to...

A half day was totally needed before heading to see Daniel Tosh on Friday night. We grabbed a bite to eat at Abby Lane across from the theater before the show and as always it was a good time.
Abbey Lane Boston
After my post on Friday I was seriously craving a lobster roll and lucky for me they had one on the menu. Was it the best roll ever, no, but it was decent just too much dill for my liking. Same with the Pizza Buffalo - it was really good, but again with the dill - they were clearly running a special on dill! One thing that never disappoints are the Kobe Sliders - those are always incredible!

If you're ever in Boston and have a chance to see a show - the Wang Theater could not be more beautiful!
Blurry but you get the idea
I'm honestly not the biggest fan of the Tosh.O show, but live he's really funny! He's also not as vulgar as I thought he'd be so that made it more enjoyable.
Saturday brought exactly what you want out of a morning - not a cloud in the sky and not too hot!! We went for a much needed run around the reservoir and happened upon a mamma and her baby ducklings! So cute!
We ventured to Cambridge on Saturday night and had dinner at The Sinclair Kitchen - my only request was for a roof deck and that's exactly what we got! The portions were perfect and the spaghetti with clams was delicious!
Continuing on the tour of Cambridge we went to Noir Bar in the Charles Hotel and felt like the only people there - partly because we were...
Ending the night at The Beat Hotel was perfect!! Yes those are mini bottles of rosé! We'll definitely be back to the Beat especially since the menu looked delicious and they had live jazz on Saturday nights!
Sunday was literally a wash since it rained on and off all day, but it gave me plenty of time to get a lot of blogging and picture taking in!! I was also able to make this incredible Chicken in a creamy Parmesan and sundried tomato sauce for dinner!!
Chicken in a Creamy Parmesan and Sundried Tomato Sauce
Just like that it's Monday and a fresh start to a new week! Hope you all link up below to share what you got up to this weekend!
