Weekending | Thanksgiving Edition

Well hello there friends!! It's always hard to get going on a Monday after a holiday - especially one that involved lots of relaxing, eating & indulging in all things holiday!! We managed to squeeze in quite a bit in the few days off we had - here's what we got up to!
via

Thanksgiving//

As to be expected we ate a lot this weekend! The turkey was cooked to perfection and the apps that I mentioned last week were a huge hit! My sister outdid herself with a beautiful tablescape and food that was amazing!
But of course we couldn't just stop with Thanksgiving food. Although I wish I snapped a picture of my BIL making good use of the turkey leftovers and made some Turkey Quesadillas! We had lots of comfort food and if you don't consider sushi to be a comfort food, then you just haven't eaten at our favorite place!!

We Watched//

We watched a ton of movies this weekend - I feel less guilty when I know I've gotten so much off my to-do list!! Our favorite of the weekend was Creed. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really well done! Fun fact - I'm obsessed with all the Rocky movies - especially IV! It also didn't hurt that we watched the movie in the newly renovated Fenway Theater and the best part is the ticket prices were still at the as pre-renovation! Honorable mention goes to Self/less with Ryan Reynolds. It had similarities to a few other science fiction movies, but I liked that it steered clear of the science portion and dealt with the story more.

We got it done//

I was so happy to put away all things Fall and get into the holiday spirit!! We wrapped, put up our decor & even managed to send out our Holiday Cards! I'll be sharing them this week! I did most of my shopping online with the exception of Friday afternoon - but I was happy the outdoor mall wasn't packed! I scooped this fun plaid top from Express for myself, but the rest of my shopping was done on the computer!! And I have to tell you - shopping online is the best!

Cyber Monday Sales

If you aren't done with all your shopping then today is the perfect day to take advantage of all those extra deals! There are a few places that increased their online savings - including Bauble Bar (it was 30% on Friday & it's 35% today until 12/1) and I think I might snag some gift sets for friends, but also this bracelet for myself! Here's where I'll be shopping!

Thanksgiving Day Style

Happy Thanksgiving Eve friends! Figuring out an outfit to wear for the feast that will be happening on Thursday is no easy task, but this year I know exactly what will make me comfortable and leave plenty of room for the food to expand...oh dear I'm full just thinking about it!! Here's my ideal and more than likely probable outfit for Thursday!
//You will find me wearing a variation of either a sweater dress or a tunic with leggings - either way sweater dress or tunic  = super comfy because leggings will be worn regardless!

//I've mentioned these booties probably three separate times now because they really are my favorite pair of wedge booties I've ever purchased! They are insanely comfortable and will be perfect for the sweater dress!

//For the accessories a cute necklace - similar to if you find the wishbone you get to make a wish (cheesy I know) and of course a glam cocktail ring

//Finishing off the look with a bold lip color and pretty nail polish. I've been loving all of my bite beauty lip pencils - the pigmentation is amazing! I have this red on my nails and I love it!

I want to take this time to wish you all Happy Thanksgiving! I hope it's a beautiful day filled with only the best! I'll be taking the next few days off to spend some time with my family and can't wait to hear about what you all got up to on Monday for Weekending! What will you be wearing tomorrow?

Our First Piece of Art | Peak into our office space

When it came to decorating our apartment - it's always been a joint venture. Gary and I both have to agree on whatever is that's going to be in our place. So when time came to pick our first piece of art, the same was true. Well this task proved to be a lot easier said than done, turns out that while we have similar styles, there is a lot more that goes into choosing a piece! We took to Minted's Art section and were able to sort by style which thankfully we easily narrowed down to abstract.
We then went through and started sorting by color trying to figure out which pieces would fit best above our desk area.
Ultimately we ended up with a piece that was a little darker, but had some pretty colors to add some more dimension to our room. The easiest part was actually picking the frame - which I was so happy to find that Minted did for you. You pick from 11 different frame styles and we ended up with a darker distressed wood. The Indes piece came and it was beyond beautiful! I was in love with it!

What I love about Minted's art section is that it's a chance for independent artists from around the world to have a place to showcase their art. How's this for a coincidence - the piece of art we ended up choosing was actually by a local artist out of South Boston - Joe Barka
You'll notice that the piece is actually vertical on the website but we thought it looked better horizontally above our bookshelves and that folks is the beauty of abstract art - no right or wrong way to hang it!!
Minted is having some great sales if you're in the market for your first piece of art or if you haven't ordered your holiday cards yet!
11/25 - 11/27: BLACK FRIDAY: 15% off $100+, 20% off $150+ on holiday / art gifts
11/30: CYBER MONDAY: 25% off all non-holiday products

Have you ever purchased art online before? Do you like decorating or do you wish someone else would do it for you?
I was provided a piece of art in exchange for my opinion. All opinions are 100% my own.

Weekend Things

via
Happy Thanksgiving week friends!! It's Monday and it's a holiday week, so that makes me super excited!! I'll get right into this weekend happenings since it was quite fun!
//Found the best donuts in Boston after work on Friday - loved the sign too :)
//Spent Saturday with my family - taking selfies of course
//Figured out what apps I'm making for Thanksgiving. Decided on Apple Brie Crostini from The Sequin Notebook & my stuffed mushrooms! I shared that recipe when I first started blogging and two years later it's still a favorite of mine to make - and everyone else's to eat!
//Celebrated a friends 30th birthday party at the Liberty Hotel!! I've mentioned the hotel and bar here and here - it's always a favorite place of ours to celebrate! It actually wasn't Viv's birthday - she just liked the balloons!
//Didn't let a little rain stop me from showing my parents my favorite area right outside of Boston - The Street. I was surprised with how many sales were already in progress with led me to my first gift guide of the season - Stocking Stuffers! I find that stocking stuffers are fun gifts that people either don't want to buy for themselves or are things they need, but didn't know they needed! With gift cards being a given, these are some things I've bought for myself, for Gary and for my family members!

//The limited edition mugs - that seem to come out every winter season, so scoop them up this year. We always drink our tea out of ours!
//The Swell bottle is really a perfect gift because a lot of people want it but don't want to buy it for themselves!
//I don't think it's any surprise that something Kate Spade would wind up on my stocking stuffer list - this all occasion card set is perfect for any stationary lover!
//I bought Gary a shoe shining kit last year and he uses it all the time - it's a really thoughtful gift for any special guy! It's 98% natural, so no harsh chemicals!
//The Happy Plug ear buds are so much cuter than the usual iPhone ones that come with our phones and a little animal print works for us all!
// I have one butter nail polish and love it - this limited edition set has perfect neutrals and two stand out colors!
// People laugh at selfie sticks, but they are the best when travelling! Wouldn't you know a certain someone in my family actually requested one!!
// I swear by portable chargers - I have one at work and in my purse - with all the snapping, instagraming and emailing we do - this is perfect for us bloggers!
//I got a sample of this perfume during the Sephora Sale & I have to say there have been few perfumes I get complemented on as soon as I put them on and this one is a winner!!

How was your weekend? Have you started with your stocking stuffer gifts yet?

Friday Favorites | The One Before Thanksgiving

Happy Friday dolls! I'm so happy the weekend is upon us because my parents are making their way to Boston this weekend for the week and into Thanksgiving...I love me so family time! This was a great week and I want to thank you all again for all the congratulations on my little milestone!! Stay tuned for the winner! Linking up with Amanda and April for some favorites!

Favorite Dinner

Earlier this week Citizens Bank had a few of us over to Brassiere Jo in Boston to learn more about the Hearth Shares organization. This is the second season that Hearth Shares has partnered up with restaurants in Boston to help end elder homelessness. Between November 20 & December 25th at participating restaurants you can choose to add a $1 (or more to your bill) to help the cause. If you're in the Boston area these are the restaurants participating. The program is in 7 different countries and a few US cities including San Francisco & Nashville. I always feel good about my dining choices when the restaurants I visit participate in great programs like this, so thank you Brassiere Jo!

Favorite Find

We are in full on decorating for the holiday's mode over here, but waiting patiently for the day after Thanksgiving!! I found these super cute balloon initial ornaments from Urban Outfitters the other day and I think they would be a great addition to our tree or even as a nice little gift to someone that is hard to buy for, even a boss!

Favorite Song

So Adele released another new song from her album and no shocker here, but she SLAYED it!! Not only is the song amazing, but she recorded the video live...so that's what she sounds like without any studio remastering or anything! No words!

Favorite Holiday Card trick

I have done holiday cards for the last three years (since we got married) and I think I have finally perfected the process...thanks to mail merges and avery labels everything works seamlessly together. This year I found out (maybe a little late to the party) that if you buy the clear avery labels (I used 18660) you can design your own labels. I only did this for our return address labels, but it will be a nice addition to the back of the cards and a way to close them.

//All look back at Posh & Becks through the years - okay he's pretty hot!

So that pretty much wraps up the week! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Sephora Play Box & A Giveaway

Sephora Play Box Review
In September I found out that Sephora would be rolling out their Play Subscription Box in a few test cities and Boston happened to be one of them, so I hopped onto the website and joined the wait list. Lucky for me, as of October I was off the wait list and my first box was on it's way to me!
Sephora Play Box Review
October's  theme for the box was Secret's to Dewy Skin. I have to be honest, I'm not that into getting samples of facial products, I'd rather have actual makeup, but I was pleasantly surprised with the contents of the box!
Sephora Play Box Review
There were brands I had never tried before like Dr. Jart+  and Belief - and there were others that I knew I was faithful to like Fresh
Sephora Play Box Review
The first item I was excited and ready to use was the sheet mask. I'd seen them all over beauty blogs, but had never tried it myself. It's safe to say this is the most awkward thing to have on your face. The result after 10 minutes was amazing - my skin was glowing!! I don't think I'd give up my regular masks, but they say to use this on long flights and well I just happen to have one coming up next year so I'll purchase one for that trip!
Sephora Play Box Review
I was also really impressed with the boscia detoxifying black cleanser - it came with the cleansing sponge, but the sponge didn't really give it anything extra. My skin felt smooth and clean after the cleansing and I even used it morning and night to see if there was a big difference in how my skin felt and I loved it even more in the mornings!
Sephora Play Box Review
Favorites from the box include:
Belief true cream - it's a moisturizing cream that I applied right after the shower before my actual moisturizer and it felt like I was dipping my face in water. Very refreshing - if you can get a sample from Sephora to see if you like how it feels on your skin - I highly suggest trying it!

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Daily Tint - I was beyond obsessed with this day tint and used it up within a week. It was the perfect base and I blended into my foundation for more coverage, but it is good enough to wear on it's own. It provided nice coverage, not full though. I probably won't purchase this until I find it on sale because the cost for the size is just a little too much for me.

Fresh Toner - probably a reason this toner is out of stock online, it's amazing. It picked up dirt and grime after I was sure my face was clean. If that's not reason enough to buy I'm not sure what is...meaning I don't know how long I've thought I actually really cleaned my makeup off my face, but still had some leftover!

The perfume wasn't really my "smell," but I always keep them in my desk at work just in case I need something for after work or forget perfume in the mornings  (happens more than you know)!
Sephora Play Box Review
I love that you get a booklet with the box that goes into detail about the products, how to use them and best practices. You also get a "Play Card" for you to go into the store and have a professional teach you how to use the products! Over all I love the Play box. For $10 I think it's better than Birchbox, which I cancelled a few years ago.

I want to thank you all so much for your kind words on my Blogiversary (PS still one more day to enter that giveaway!)And because one giveaway is never enough, for the next week, I am teaming up with Pamela from Sequins & Sea Breezes and 20 other fab bloggers to give away a $325 Nordstrom Gift Card to celebrate Pamela’s two year blogiversary! This giveaway is just in time for the holidays, so you have the chance to give yourself {or someone else} a little treat for the holidays! The more ways you enter, the better your chances are! The giveaway ends on Friday, November 27th, at midnight and the winner will be announced on Monday, November 30th. Good luck and be sure to check out all of these fabulous blogs!

Weekending | Taking it Easy

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had wonderful and relaxing weekends. Ours was perfectly laid back including baby snuggles, shopping and catching up with Gary's parents. Since it was so relaxing that doesn't lend itself to too many pictures and I'm perfectly okay with that, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the attack on the people of Paris on Friday. While I like to keep this space light - I did want to pay my respects to the tragedy. There are thousands of people suffering around the world every day and while we/I might not mention it daily - I am always thinking of them. I can only pray and hope that our children will grow up in a world that is filled with far less hate...
This month is filled with family time, giving thanks and making memories with all our loved ones. If given the chance this is how I'd like to spend my Thanksgiving and set the table!

I have been itching to get this gold flatware set from Target, perfect for Thanksgiving and when you need to give that table a little something extra. Speaking of extra and Target, Threshold has these metallic styled candles I love the copper and gold ones - no surprise there! I also love the idea of switching up the bar area and making it themed for the day - taking a cue from this apple cider bar cart and you can add these cute stemless glasses too. I tried making place cards two years ago for my sisters house - but these golden leaf ones are the ones I really want to make! I've never met a table runner I didn't like - especially one that has "thankful" on each end. Finally the show stopping piece has to be this cake stand - only instead of a pie or cake I'd place all mini desserts so that we could all have more than one piece!!
What would you add to set the table?
This week is going to be full of celebrations - stay tuned for a few giveaways and I hope you all have a wonderful start to the week
