Play! by Sephora | January Box

You may or may not have noticed that I didn’t mention my Sephora Play! Boxin December…that’s because my box never came! I was a little disappointed because the samples were ones that I was excited to try, but reaching out to Sephora’s customer service was a breeze and they refunded me the $10 cost of the box and I was all set with getting my January box! The theme of January’s box was “No Appointment Necessary” – meaning these were all things that would help your skin look fresh without having to visit the doctor!!

Sephora Subscription Box

Most excited for:

Sephora Subscription Box

I was most excited to try the eye mask. I really liked that I didn’t have to sleep with the mask on – I had tried other under eye masks and you had to wear them overnight and they ended up everywhere except for my eyes! These stayed put and after only 15 minutes in the morning I noticed a difference. Very rarely do I notice a difference with masks, but my eyes felt less puffy and the dark circles were minimized. What I don’t like is that it’s $5 for only one mask, but I am keeping about two sets on hand to use before special events to be refreshed!

Most skeptical of:

I really didn’t know what to expect from the alpha beta peel, but when I heard the word peel I instantly got nervous. I was worried that my skin was going to have an adverse reaction and end up blotchy and red like when Samantha had a peel on Sex and the City. I’m happy to report that I didn’t have any mishaps and actually got to use this for three consecutive days. My skin did in fact glow after this and I noticed how much tighter it felt – probably because it reduces the appearance of fine lines and pores. It does tingle, but no more than any other masks I’ve used.

Sephora Subscription Box

Along the same lines I was pretty weary of the Dr. BrandtNeedles No More cream. This is crazy expensive for a small bottle, but it’s supposedly botox in a bottle without the needles (hence the name) and the pain! I sadly can’t report that I saw a huge improvement in my forehead, which was the only place I applied it to and on top of that it takes about 4 weeks using the cream twice a day to truly see results and with the small sample in the box it’s impossible to get those results. I’d be interested to try thefiller maskwhich has better reviews.

Most used products:

Sephora Subscription Box

I have been into applying my eye makeup with sticks recently so I was exciting to try Clinque’s chubby highlighting stick. This is super easy to use for adding that little bit of highlight on your cheeks and right on your brow bone! I keep it with me in my purse. Another product I keep in my gym bag is the style extender from Living Proof. I spritz a little after I’m done with my workout and my hair looks the same as it did before I worked out – I don’t like to wash my hair at the gym, so this helps me get through the day! A sort of throw away product was the Tocca (Isabel) perfume. They always have one fragrance in each box and I don’t really mind it because it’s one of those things I keep in my desk at work and sort of forget about until I need to use it!

Sephora Subscription Box

Was this my most favorite box? No, but it was the box that I used the products almost immediately so I was happy to get to try them out and toss the ones that I finished like the cream, peel and mask!

How do you feel about subscription boxes? Have you tried any of these products yet?

Thanks for the great review. I just switched my makeup over to Clinique, so I may have to add that chubby highlighter stick to my stash as well. Wish I had seen that last weekend when I bought the rest. LOL I'm always up for a mask that takes away dark circles and wrinkles – sign me up! HA! 🙂

I am so obsessed with Sephora! I am really glad your skin didn't turn out like Samantha's did with the peel. I bought a retinol oil from Sephora and it made my face feel like it was on fire. Had to take it back the next day haha! Love that the mask worked for you!

So glad that you got a box that you were able to use a bunch of the things. And I'm also glad that the peel didn't make your face go crazy–that would NOT have been fun (I would've been nervous at the word "peel" too).

I had no idea Sephora had a box? What the heck. I think I'm most interested about the peel, it sounds like something I'd love to try out. I've done chemical peels before (it's usual for your skin to shed because you're basically rushing the natural process it goes through). But all the products look lovely and like something I wouldn't mind at all playing around with.

I've never tried the Clinique highlighter but it has to be good if it's your must used product.

Sometimes skincare samples can be so hard if you don't get enough of the product to use for long enough– but at the same time sometimes I love them because they give you a chance to try something, you end up loving, that you wouldn't have ever tried otherwise. Aside from products I run out of I'm on a makeup buying ban, but that highlight stick sounds really nice!

Some great goodies from the Play Sephora box. How cool that they are themed. Cute name this past month.

Have a safe flight to India Hun and enjoy your awesome trip girly! Are you all packed?

I never do subscription boxes but this is one that would be perfect to break me into the world of sephora and new products! Gimme all the hair stuff and I know exactly what to do with it. Skin and make up? Totally clueless!
