Looking Forward...2017

It honestly feels like just yesterday we were getting ready ring in the New Year with friends - now here we are 52 weeks later and it feels like no time has passed at all. 2016 brought a lot of great things, a few not so good & as we are getting ready to close it out I'm really excited for 2017. All year I've felt a little off with my focus - I didn't set any goals for myself in 2016 & I need that focus to drill down into what I want to accomplish! I decided to split it up in blog & business! The time frame I've given myself - all of 2017!
Goals for the blog

BLOG / SOCIAL MEDIA ||

Social Media

I put a lot of emphasis on my blog over the last 3 years and sort of neglected the social media aspect of it. The occasional tweet, Instagram post & even Pinterest post were sometimes just forgotten. I'd really like to grow each of my social media accounts organically by a set number (that I've written down for myself) over the next year. Each quarter I've given myself a goal & I'm hopeful that I'll hit it! Are we following each other?! If not, let's change that! 😉 - @blovedboston everywhere!

Blog

After finally getting a blog layout that I love, I switched to 3 days a week of blogging this year and I'm really happy with that flow. That wont be changing - the content that you see on the blog will however! I really want to curate better photos in my posts, using more original photos & trying to steer clear of pinterest found ones - when possible. I've actually been getting a lot of questions about my photos recently -  Gary got the new iPhone 7 and the camera is just insane!! Any chance I get to take some photos with it I do and for this reason I'm excited for my upgrade in January!
Travel / Vlog?! We have a tripped planned to drive up the Pacific Coast Highway - I'd really love to build out my travel posts and perhaps even share a little bit of the trip in video format! We (and by we I mean Gary) is really good at creating these movies of all our trips and we have one for all of the trips we've taken, so I thought why not start sharing that here!

This was such a fun year for Jackie & I with our business. Although we only planned two weddings - one of which was featured on Wedding Chicks this past Friday- it was still an incredibly successful year for us. We partnered with a group of insanely talented vendors for a styled shoot (published in September) & then a pop up event with over 50 attendees - one of which resulted in us getting signed to do their wedding in 2017! To be completely honest, it's hard balancing a business on top of my family, full time job, blog and all the other things that make for a fun life and I get a little hard on us for not getting everything done faster and as quickly as others, but this isn't our full-time focus, so I think I should give us some slack! For next year...
  1. I'd love to have Bespoke featured in Style Me Pretty - it's a lofty goal, but I think it's possible! We are working on another styled shoot with a team of fantastic vendors - so this could definitely be the one!
  2. We're going to have our now "Annual Bridal Pop" sometime in the late spring / early summer
  3. We are set to coordinate 4 weddings next year, one day of coordination the first weekend of the year! I'm pretty happy with that number of weddings, but I'd like to round it out to 5!
  4. For the business itself, I'm looking forward to building our brand and that is going to start with our materials. Hopefully this will be done before the end of Q2.

BONUS ||

Reduce Shopping|| I feel like I did a lot of shopping this year, especially towards the end of 2016 & there were only a handful of purchases that I'm still swooning over. For that reason I really want to cut back on shopping - focusing on quality of quantity! I'm also going to be doing a huge closet clean out in the first quarter of the year & really want to sell some of those items I just never get around to wearing!
Well friends - this is the last post of 2016 for me!! I'm so looking forward to the start of the new year and 2017! I hope you all have a happy & safe NYE and can't wait to see what you all got up to during the long weekend!! The weekending link-up will be live on TUESDAY the 3rd!
Do you like to set goals or resolutions?

  3. I cannot even believe that it's almost 2017. Doesn't the start of 2016 seem like it was just yesterday?! These are great goals and resolutions for 2017. I'm a firm believer in writing goals down, they are easier to achieve! With that said, I still need to write down mine! Less shopping will also be on my list and making time to read some of the books that have been on my list for far too long! Have a wonderful NYE party and Happy 2017!

  16. Biana, I wish you MUCH success in all of these goals you've shared for us, may all of them come to fruition and even exceed your own expectations. Your blog has been one of my go-to's for cool and unique products, either tech or beauty. I love your style of writing and how it feels as though we're girlfriends chatting about what we love and don't. I also can't leave without saying you ARE the go-to for all things Boston! You really seem to know the best restaurants and activities and I really hope that Eddie and I can make our way up there one day to meet you and Gary! Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating and ringing in the New Year, my beautiful friend!

  20. I definintely was not as focused as I wish I was in 2016 but I am super excited to start 2017 off great! I love your goals, I feel the same about social media, I'll do well for a while and then just steer clear for a month or two, so that's a goal of mine also! Good luck on your goals although I'm sure you'll rock them and I can't wait to follow along on the blog. Happy New Year gorgeous! XO -Kim

  21. I love phones have such good cameras now. So easy to take great pictures.
    I need to make some goals myself - I think it keeps me on track.

  22. You have some fabulous goals laid out. I often neglect social media too (but YOU have an excuse! You work full time!!), it is just so hard to keep up with all of it! Ohhh how I wish you didn't say the phone on the new iPhone7 is "insane" I have the 6 and keep trying to put off getting the 7. Improving my photos (since I primarily use my phone to take photos) is one of my goals too. Now you are making me want to cave and get the 7. I have Sprint as a provider and they got rid of upgrades. If you want to share who your provider is, I would love that. Maybe I need to switch. Happy, Happy Early New Year! Looking forward to more great posts/adventures/fashion/FOOD from you next year! xoxoxo catchatwithcarenandcody

    1. My provider is AT&T, but I switched to the Apple upgrade program this year that allows you to upgrade your phone whenever a new one comes out (of course there are details that go along with it) but I'm loving having more flexibility with that!

  23. I love your goals for trying to grow your social media over 2017! I'm right there with you with always feeling like I don't do enough on social media, and that would be a great goal for me too. And yes to more travel posts! Y'all go on so many amazing trips, and I always love reading your travel recaps. Your PCH trip next year is going to be so beautiful, and I'm already looking forward to the recap. I definitely have the same problem with spending, and Chris and I are doing a no spend January. Fingers crossed that we're successful!

  25. I am your newest follower on Instagram! I'd really like to beef up my social media following too. And I plan to blog twice a week! Shopping less is on my list for 2017 too. I can most definitely do better. Hope you have a fabulous weekend and a Happy New Year!

  27. I felt similarly with the goal thing this year, I didn't really set things because I knew with the wedding and moving I probably wouldn't get to it. My main goal was to soak up each and every moment with my friends and family before moving and I think I did a decent job of that. I hope you guys are super successful with Bespoke, it seems like you are headed for that in 2017 though! Definitely need to set a no shopping goal for myself next year too! Happy New Year girl, see you in 2017 :)!

  28. I think it's going to be an amazing year for you! I feel like I need to reduce shopping for that same reason..I bought a lot this year and I feel like I don't remember most of it, and I'm definitely not still swooning over it.

  57. I'll be joining you on that closet purge. I tend to do one this time every year it seems. lol I feel like my style always shifts a little this time of year and I'm ready for the Spring clothing to fill my closet. I too want to get some solid pieces this year and less tops and bottoms that dissolve after 4 wears. lol I think my biggest resolution is to read more. I want to read at least twelve books this year!

  58. Love the goals you set for yourself Biana! Growing social media is on my agenda for this year as well.

  59. I didn't realize that your wedding planning was a second job! That is amazing that you do all that you do on top of a full time job AND part time job. MAJOR props to you Biana. i use my phone for 80% of my blog pictures and my Canon for my youtube videos and for some fashion posts. I think you could totally use a phone if you plan to include more pictures and don't want to pull out your professional one. There are tons of editing apps. I have a samsung s6 that automatically uploads my pictures to the google cloud where I edit my pictures and load directly into blogger. I def would like to grow my following too but I struggle sometimes to keep up with blogging, youtube, reading others, and social media. I too feel like I shop WAY too much and need to cut down. I have more clothes, shoes, and makeup than one person will ever need. I'm def going through my closets real soon. My last goal is to find another job this year. Actively looking on a regular basis instead of looking and stopping on and off. Happy New Year!
