Happy Monday friends. I am going to be the first to admit that with all the unrest happening in our country and all over the world right now it might seem a bit shallow to talk about my weekend. I believe in putting positivity out into the universe - there is so much hate on the internet, in the news and it seems like everywhere we turn, but this space is never going to be like that. What I will say...my family immigrated to America almost 30 years ago - I was just a baby and obviously it was years later that I realized the strength, courage & true grit that my parents had to uproot their two children to a country where they were starting over in the hopes of building something greater. With that being said, this is merely my way of putting positivity and lightheartedness out there.
Happy Friday friends! Somehow we've come to the last weekend in January - ah! I'm excited for another styled shoot we're doing this weekend, completely different from anything we've done before so follow along on instastories for a little behind the scenes! Linking up with Amanda to share some favorites from this week!
For the last two years I've shared a gift guide "from me to me" (2015 & 2016) and I decided to keep the same idea rolling for 2017! With my birthday a few weeks after Valentine's day and it being a big one, 3-0HHHH - I want to treat myself to something special. Here are a few things I have my eye on!
If you ask my husband then he'll say the last thing I should add to my closet is another pair of shoes! I'm someone that walks my shoes to death - I will continue to wear them until it's just not appropriate to wear them in public anymore! I have been wanting a pair of all black Nike sneakers for a while now, not for the gym, but more so for running errands, travel & comfy walking shoes! Also on the list are these Marc Fisher Espadrilles that I was kicking myself for not getting last year - now they are back in stock & the black or olive suede is what I have picked out.
I can't say enough good things about the Essie gel couture nail polish line. It absolutely lives up to the long wear hype and I can go about 9-10 days without so much as a chip and that never happens with other nail polishes! I've slowly started to throw out all other polishes and I'm building this collection up! A new color is a great little gift! Since I can't really get enough of pretty nude lipsticks, I'd love to try out Charlotte Tilbury's collection in the Kim K.W color!
Confession: I only have one belt! It's not because I don't like them, but I've never found a belt that I felt would take an outfit to the next level - that is until I spotted this gorgeous Gucci leather belt with double G buckle. This is absolutely an investment & a belt that would be timeless!
Why is it that clutches and small bags are the hardest to keep organized?! I have more than I care to admit, but this GlamBox organizer is exactly what my closet needs! And the only piece of clothing on my wish list is ruffle sweater from TopShop. I've been really good about not making random clothing purchases and taking a hard look at my closet, purging items I don't wear and just being honest with what I want vs. need. So the sweater isn't necessarily a need, but not having anything like this it's a great Happy Valentine's Day gift!

Do you like to treat yourself to something for Valentine's Day? What's on your wish list?
Happy Monday friends! We're back from a quick weekend getaway to Stowe, VT and it was the perfect escape from the city! It's a little bit of a hike being three hours from the city, but totally worth it to stay with my sister & family in a house near Stowe Mountain Resort, which was only a few miles away.
This wasn't a ski weekend for us & I'm totally okay with that for a few reasons, but mostly because it gave us the opportunity to explore the resort and other areas of Stowe without having to spend the entire day on the slopes. I'll let the pictures do the talking - here's a little travel diary of a quick weekend to Stowe. Warning - photo overload ahead!
Fun fact - I don't ski! So what exactly am I doing going to Vermont on a ski weekend?! Very valid question & the answer is that there is so much more to do in Vermont than just ski!! With that being said, being warm is my top priority so here's what's in my weekender!
My sister asked me the other day if I have any books to recommend & I got so excited to share the books below with her because these are all pretty great. I get asked quite frequently how I get through so many books. Well it's a couple of things: I read whenever I'm on the train to and from work - it's not a long commute but 30 minutes each way gives me a lot of reading time. I also read a few chapters before bed - it relaxes my mind. If I'm not taking a gym class, then I'm usually on the elliptical and reading - read on for how this proved to be problematic a few weeks ago! I get the books on loan from the library with a pretty strict deadline of returning I know that I have to get through the book or else I'll be stuck halfway finished and dying to know what happened - so that's a pretty great motivator!
I think it's safe to say that I have eased into this new year!! After an extra long weekend I'm feeling motivated and ready for the week ahead!! I mentioned that my mom flew up here on Thursday so I spent the day hanging out with her and my sister before they went to Vermont for the long weekend - we're actually headed there this coming weekend and I'm beyond excited for the fresh mountain air, but before that here are a few snaps of the weekend!
Friday night Gary and I went to the Liberty Hotel for an impromptu night out with some friends.
It's hard to not want to be a hermit in the winter so we give ourselves pep talks before going out to psych ourselves up #oldladystatus - you know something like - just think how amazing it will be when we get home and get comfy 😂 <-- please tell me we're not alone here!
Probably the most productive Saturday I've had in a while and actual meal planning happened! I made margarita chicken fajitas from the Cravings cookbook & oh my gosh was it amazing!! We also started the show Goliath on Amazon thanks to a few of your recommendations. I'm not normally a Billy Bob Thornton fan, but I love any legal drama so I'm glad we gave this one a go!
After Eataly Boston opened in November we wanted to wait for the crowds to die down before we attempted a trip back. Apparently the crowds will never die down since it was just as packed on Sunday as it was the weekend it opened. There are three different areas to eat - two require reservations that can only be made in person & the one la piazza is first come first served. We snagged a table at one of the bars & enjoyed a leisurely lunch with arancini (fried risotto balls), a charcuterie board with an assortment of cheeses & meats capped off with Tajarin - hand cut egg pasta with truffle butter and parmesan. Yes, tasted just as amazing as it sounds!
If you ever make it to Boston, I can't recommend a stroll through Beacon Hill enough - especially on Charles Street. It's my favorite neighborhood in the city & all the little alley's that lead to the most charming homes - beyond picturesque! At this point you've seen these boots & bag on repeat in basically every single outfit post because I just can't get enough. The boots were one of the best purchases I made at the end of last year - I can walk miles without so much as a pinch. I have a what's in my bag post coming up soon & I'm going to be sharing just how much you can fit into this small bag!
Bonus weekend day gave us time to do all the things without feeling like we're spending precious weekend moments. We finally hung some artwork in the hallway for the start of our gallery wall, made a huge dent in our PCH itinerary & scooped up the cutest little faux marble side table from TJ Maxx!! Closed out Monday with my standard Bachelor viewing! I know a lot of people aren't liking this season, but at least it's not nearly as boring as the ones in previous seasons!!
Are you watching the bachelor? Have you picked your winner yet?
Happy Friday friends! I'm pretty pumped for the weekend since I have today off and will be spending the day with my sister and mom who flew up here yesterday for the long weekend! I like this whole easing into the year thing with long weekends still happening!! Here are some of my favorite things from the past week!
There's really nothing better than curling up on the couch and watching some good TV when it's frigid & snowing outside! I wanted to share a few of the shows that Gary and I have watched, binged & loved!! After getting a new TV for the living room, we're finally able to stream Amazon and can I just say they are rivaling Netflix in their original series' and offerings!
Happy Monday friends! We had a wintry weekend here in Boston and that gave way to a really fun snow day on Sunday! When I first moved to Boston I didn't even own a pair of snow boots - big mistake since I fell no less than 5 times trying to navigate in the snow & horrendous black ice! Since then I've managed to create a sort of "winter wardrobe arsenal" in order to make it through the blistering cold months ahead! I thought I'd share some of my staying warm tips - coming from a former Florida Girl turned true New Englander!
It's the first Friday of the new year and this weekend is starting out with a wedding!! We're coordinating a fun winter wedding at the Four Season's hotel & I'm pretty excited for this winter white wedding - literally since it's going to be snowing! Here's a few of my favorite finds from the week!
I have always loved makeup - since before I was really allowed to wear it and I distinctly remember my first eye shadow palette. It was from Revlon and had smoky colors & a beautiful purple shade. I was in 8th grade & after my parents left for work, I'd still have about 15 minutes before I would need to leave for the bus so I'd make it a little darker than what my mom had approved 😉
Fun fact: When I was in college I worked for John Casablancas - the modeling school and on the weekends I would drive back home and teach classes - a lot of those classes were for makeup, which were my favorite ones to teach and from there my love for beauty just grew. Fast forward to today and I'm still just as makeup obsessed! I always have those holy grail makeup items, but I thought I'd share some of the latest and greatest items I'm currently carrying in my makeup bag!
Well hello there friends and happy 2017! New Years has come and gone & after a relaxing and fun weekend I'm so ready for the daily grind and to get the most out of this year! Rather than recap the whole weekend, I thought I'd focus on our New Years Eve party, since that pretty much took up my all my thoughts this past weekend anyway!
