4 Books to Read Next

Happy Friday, friends! This week has gone by at record speed - probably due in large part to the shorter workweek for most and a lot of deadlines that needed to be met at work! I'm looking forward to a relatively laid back weekend compared to the one I had last go around! I also can't believe how close we are to Halloween! I have our costumes all picked out and I'm looking forward to dressing up for the first time in years! One of the streets we live near goes all out of Halloween and even though Sophia is still so young, we're going to attempt a little trick-or-treating. Switching gears...I haven't read as much as I would have liked to, but these four books are actually worth the read if you are looking for something to curl up with!
Ugly Love || I devoured this book in exactly one day!  Tate and Miles didn't meet under the best circumstances and his drawn back nature is likely to keep Tate at distance. The two of them are oddly drawn to one another and after a mutual agreement on what their relationship should look like, they go all in. They both think they can handle the rules that each of them outlined, but matters of the heart have a funny way of making things harder. It's told in the past for Miles and current time for Tate. I definitely cried, but that's to be expected with Colleen Hoover books! I will say this was way more R rated than other Colleen Hoover books I've read, so if that's a turn off for you, fair warning!
Just Love || Ainsley and Rhett have known each other for years and Rhett has always been very aware that the one person you don't fall in love with is your best friend's sister. Unfortunately, both Ainsley and Rhett can't deny their feelings for one another once she moves back to Charleston. It's told in alternating voices until it's finally all at the same time. You find out why Rhett had to let Ainsley go, which I wasn't expecting. There were definitely emotions stirred up while reading this and I cried, but not at what I thought would make me cry (you'll know if you read it). It was an engaging story with unexpected turns and a little sexiness thrown in!
Bring Me Back (Kindle Unlimited) || Imagine that you were about to interview your high school idol / crush. You know, that boy band lead singer that you always fantasized would be your boyfriend one day - that's exactly the person that Claire is interviewing for Rolling Stone magazine. Only now she's not a teen, she's a single mom on the cusp of forty and he's still just as handsome and endearing as she thought he would be, but coming off of a divorce. A friendship forms and then love, but what's in between for Claire and Chris? This was such a fun read for anyone that had an outlandish crush on a celebrity! Definitely a book to get lost in!
Back Forever (Kindle Unlimited)|| Since I really enjoyed Bring Me Back, I decided to dive right into the sequel. I was happy the author gave us more that just an epilogue into what happens with Chris and Claire's relationship. This is when real life sets in and they navigate not only their own lives, but also his celebrity life. The author touched on a lot of real life things like parents getting sick, living with you, in-laws and through it all you sort of forgot that Chris was a rock star. There was also more of the story told from Chris' point of view which I enjoyed. Overall, these two books were really solid reads for me!

I started The Tattooist of Auschwitz this week and it's a really different type of read for me. Obviously, true stories, especially ones that are told about the Holocaust are so difficult to read, but it has such rave reviews that I wanted to give it a go. What are you currently reading?

Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat Review

Thank you to Britax for gifting the car seat in this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
When it came time to think about a new convertible car seat for Sophia, I immediately felt overwhelmed with the number of options out there. She was quickly approaching the height limit on her infant car seat and it was getting very snug, so we wanted to make sure we found something that would continue to grow with her and also something she'd be comfortable in.  There are so many things to consider when choosing a car seat, the most important one of course being safety. I painstakingly read through almost all the 600 plus reviews on Amazon and really felt like the Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car seat would be the best seat to get before our Portland road trip and beyond.
Once the seat arrive, I was pleasantly surprised that there was no assembly required. This may be the case for all car seats, but not having the additional step of putting anything together was a win in my book! Installation is always worrisome, but the easy ClickTight buttons make it no more than a 5 minute process. You press the middle ClickTight button and it lifts so that you can pull the seat belt through to secure it. It is pretty heavy weighing a little under 30 pounds, but I attribute that to the steel frame and base.

p.s. those are Gary's hands 😁
Sophia is still rear facing and will be for as long as possible or until she hits the 40 pound limit with this car seat. There are 7 different recline positions available making it compatible with almost any car it's being installed in and it's also a tad narrow, so it doesn't take up as much space as I would have expected. Not only does the Marathon ClickTight Car Seat have side impact protection but it also has an absorbing base.
One of the best features in my opinion is the extra slack that you have in the harness. There wasn't any awkward maneuvering getting Sophia into the car seat and trying to get her arms through the straps. There's an easy release button that gives you more slack and then it's just as easy to tighten.
The true test came as we started the road trip. Verdict - Sophia was asleep before we hit the highway and slept the entire way to Portland, so I would say she's a huge fan of her new car seat!

It's always hard to navigate the world of baby / toddler products - ultimately choosing what we hope is the best product for our child. We're really happy with our new Britax car seat for Sophia and we'll be part of the Britax family for years to come. If you're interested, the color we have is "Ashton" and that particular one is exclusive to Amazon.

Weekending Fun

Happy Monday, friends! What a blur of a weekend it was - there were rehearsals, target runs and a wedding! It was a whirlwind, but I was grateful to have a full day with Sophia on Sunday! I could have used an extra day off today, so if you're one of the lucky ones with Columbus Day off - enjoy!

The wedding took place in the Grand Masonic Lodge of Massachusetts. It's the oldest masonic lodge in the country and this was the first wedding to take place there! It was pretty historic and it was the first wedding I coordinated that I actually cried! The vows were so beautiful and both families coming together was so special! Beautiful autumnal flowers by Centre Piece Florists and the bride blinged out her converse sneakers!

After a busy week and missing bedtime twice this week, I am so happy that Sophia and I had ourselves a girl's day! Lunch, train rides, playground adventure and a target run, it was the best Sunday! She's been so into seeing herself on the camera recently, so I obviously obliged with lots of selfies for her!

Have a great start to the week!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Happy Friday, friends! This has been a week - the weather hasn't fully cooperated with the events that I had earlier in the week / have this weekend, but things happen and reinforcements like heaters and getting permits from the Boston Fire Department sort themselves out! I wish I could say I have a relaxing weekend ahead, but that's just not the case, so instead I'll share a few snaps from our weekend filled with pumpkins!  Last weekend we went to Western, MA to see Gary's folks and took a drive through the country and saw all the beautiful colors of Fall! We stopped into Atkins Farm and while it wasn't a full fledged pumpkin patch, it did give us a few cute photo ops!

Oversized Sunglasses  made their debut over the weekend!
On Sunday we took Sophia to Brooksby Farm in Peabody about 30 minutes from Boston. It was our first time, but we'll be back again! The pumpkin patch was perfect and then the true highlight was Sophia seeing all the animals! She loves them and getting the chance to feed them literally has her squealing from delight! It's the sweetest sound in the world!

 Loves picking up everything!
 Sitting with her loot!
We had high hopes of going apple picking, but the line was long so we opted to go into the farm store and grab a bag of already picked ones - still just as good in my opinion. Once Sophia is older and understands what apple picking is, we'll actually do it!
Looking at our Fall Bucket list, we've already made quite a dent and I can't wait to cross more off! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Recent Amazon Purchases

It's that time again, some recent Amazon purchases that have made my days a little easier! It was another hodge podge of things needed for daycare and some other fun things for me.
  • Striped Burt's Bees Onesie || These are my favorite onesie's to get Sophia. I think the fit is really great and they are just so cozy. I wanted a Halloween themed one and even though it is a little boyish, she still looks adorable in it! Lots of different colorways too!
  • Erasable Fridge Calendar || Seems like life just continues to get busier and busier. I wanted to get this calendar to see what we have going on in a monthly view. Even though we have a shared calendar, this is right in front of our faces every day. Plus I love the pretty pastel markers it came with! FYI, it's a big calendar!
  • Oversized Sunglasses || My recent shades are probably one of my most favorite purchases! They are oversized and not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the retro look and you can't beat the price of $12.99!
  • Jumbo Crayons and Drawing Pad || Sophia is a little young to partake in art, but I wanted to see if she could "get" it. Turns out she totally gets it and loves using the crayons. These are oversized and easy for little hands to grab! It says they are break resistant, but either my daughter is the hulk or they really aren't that resistant - regardless they are still a great purchase!
  • Clear iPhone Case || I prefer to see the color of my iPhone so I always get a clear case. This is the best one I've found and I've repurchased for the 10 and now the 11. I also have a glass screen protector that I get from Apple on my phone and a pop-socket on the back.
  • Elderberry Syrup || I take elderberry gummies everyday for my immune system and started giving the syrup to Sophia as she started day care. Jury is still out on whether it works, but it's a nice little extra to give her in the mornings and helps me feel like I'm protecting her in some way.
  • Crib Sheets || These are probably the softest crib sheets I've ever purchased - so much so that I wish they came in a queen size for our bed! I bought these to give to daycare. They have almost 400 5 star reviews! That's pretty amazing!
  • Self laminating labels || I bought this started pack of labels for daycare and for the price it's a relatively good deal. I will be purchasing personalized ones from Mabel's Labels, but these were a great start in the interim. I didn't realize how many things I would have to label...it's EVERYTHING!
  • Adjustable Bag Strap || I'm still waiting on this to arrive since it wasn't Prime delivery, but I wanted a strap that would work with a variety of bags and these come in so many different colorways.

VTech Remote Access Video Baby Monitor Review

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #StayConnectedwithVTech #CollectiveBias

Sleep - it's something that is so coveted as a parent. Books, online courses and just about everyone has an opinion on what you should be doing! I know it's basically the number one question we get asked from everyone - "how is Sophia sleeping?" Well that's a story for another blog post 😂 Today I wanted to share how we sleep stalk her when she is sleeping with the VTech RM5762 Wi-Fi Remote Access Video Baby Monitor.
We recently made the switch from our previous baby monitor that was always cutting out and having to be charged to the VTech remote access baby monitor and keeping an eye on Sophia while we in the living room or at work has never been better! The set up took a total of 5 minutes. Connecting, pairing and setting the baby monitor up was so easy all while using our wifi network!
During the week my mom watches Sophia and with our previous baby monitor, she would have to use her phone as a monitor, but with the VTech baby monitor having a physical monitor, she can be free to finally use her phone during nap time! One of my favorite features is that I can check in on Sophia when I'm not home, it gives me a chance to do a little sleep stalking while I'm at work through the VTech Baby app in real time.
Some of my favorite features are the white noise sound options and the horizontal pan and vertical movement. The camera is modern and not distracting, so Sophia doesn't even notice it. Also, the picture quality is like watching a movie in high definition. As you can imagine, this is one of our most used baby products because it's used multiple times a day! Even though we live in a condo, having the peace of mind that everything is okay in Sophia's room while she's sleeping and we're watching a movie makes those at home date nights that much more enjoyable!
When I was researching my baby registry, I had a really hard time figuring out which one to get because of all the options. Now when friends and co-workers ask for a recommendation for their registry from buybuy BABY - it's always the VTech remote access baby monitors - especially the ones that are WiFi enabled!

What's your favorite way to sleep stalk your child? Do you have a VTech baby monitor?

Wish List Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, friends! It's been a really productive week thus far and I'm hoping to take it all the way through Friday. I'm halfway through my courses for a certificate program I'm taking in Marketing Strategy, which has been surprisingly fun! We also booked a last minute wedding for next weekend - the same week of my big work event, so next week will be a whirlwind. Trying to get ahead of all the things, so the to-do lists have been keeping me sane. Wanted to share a few items I have in my cart and on my wish list.

Loft was having a one day 50% off sale with free shipping so I ordered these block heel ankle booties in black and also this super cute ruffle blouse. Their fall line has been really amazing so there are a ton more pieces I want to get as well, like this puff sleeve sweater that would be a great basic.

I've had my eye on this Cuyana tote for quite some time, especially love the sleek pearl grey color. What's really making me want to make the purchase is that it's a great every day tote that actually has a zipper, which none of my bags have. Would make commuting even easier!
Rachel Parcell's new line at Nordstrom is pretty fantastic. I am in love with this blazer that's a dead ringer for the Balmain $2K version! I also really like this blazer with the ruffle on the back - gives it a little something extra!
How pretty are these Quay sunglasses - definitely some Ray Ban vibes, but I'm really drawn to the color!
We had some professional photos taken at work and the hair / makeup woman added this texture spray which made my hair look amazing. It doesn't hurt that it smells fantastic and actually works.
I cant remember where I saw these straps first, but I think they are so fun and versatile. Pop them on any bag and you've got a completely new design!
A couple years ago I splurged and bought the Gucci marmont small camera bag in black. I absolutely love the bag, but have wanted a similar style in tan / beige - this Tory Burch one is the perfect fit!

A lot of these will probably make their way over to my wish list during the Holiday Season. Anything in particular on your wish list?
