4 Books to Read Next

Happy Friday, friends! This week has gone by at record speed – probably due in large part to the shorter workweek for most and a lot of deadlines that needed to be met at work! I’m looking forward to a relatively laid back weekend compared to the one I had last go around! I also can’t believe how close we are to Halloween! I have our costumes all picked out and I’m looking forward to dressing up for the first time in years! One of the streets we live near goes all out of Halloween and even though Sophia is still so young, we’re going to attempt a little trick-or-treating. Switching gears…I haven’t read as much as I would have liked to, but these four books are actually worth the read if you are looking for something to curl up with!

Ugly Love || I devoured this book in exactly one day!  Tate and Miles didn’t meet under the best circumstances and his drawn back nature is likely to keep Tate at distance. The two of them are oddly drawn to one another and after a mutual agreement on what their relationship should look like, they go all in. They both think they can handle the rules that each of them outlined, but matters of the heart have a funny way of making things harder. It’s told in the past for Miles and current time for Tate. I definitely cried, but that’s to be expected with Colleen Hoover books! I will say this was way more R rated than other Colleen Hoover books I’ve read, so if that’s a turn off for you, fair warning!

Just Love || Ainsley and Rhett have known each other for years and Rhett has always been very aware that the one person you don’t fall in love with is your best friend’s sister. Unfortunately, both Ainsley and Rhett can’t deny their feelings for one another once she moves back to Charleston. It’s told in alternating voices until it’s finally all at the same time. You find out why Rhett had to let Ainsley go, which I wasn’t expecting. There were definitely emotions stirred up while reading this and I cried, but not at what I thought would make me cry (you’ll know if you read it). It was an engaging story with unexpected turns and a little sexiness thrown in!

Bring Me Back (Kindle Unlimited) || Imagine that you were about to interview your high school idol / crush. You know, that boy band lead singer that you always fantasized would be your boyfriend one day – that’s exactly the person that Claire is interviewing for Rolling Stone magazine. Only now she’s not a teen, she’s a single mom on the cusp of forty and he’s still just as handsome and endearing as she thought he would be, but coming off of a divorce. A friendship forms and then love, but what’s in between for Claire and Chris? This was such a fun read for anyone that had an outlandish crush on a celebrity! Definitely a book to get lost in!

Back Forever(Kindle Unlimited)|| Since I really enjoyed Bring Me Back, I decided to dive right into the sequel. I was happy the author gave us more that just an epilogue into what happens with Chris and Claire’s relationship. This is when real life sets in and they navigate not only their own lives, but also his celebrity life. The author touched on a lot of real life things like parents getting sick, living with you, in-laws and through it all you sort of forgot that Chris was a rock star. There was also more of the story told from Chris’ point of view which I enjoyed. Overall, these two books were really solid reads for me!

I started The Tattooist of Auschwitz this week and it’s a really different type of read for me. Obviously, true stories, especially ones that are told about the Holocaust are so difficult to read, but it has such rave reviews that I wanted to give it a go. What are you currently reading?

Oh Bring Me Back sounds good!! I'm reading Living Danishly and loving it!! It's about a former Marie Claire UK editor and her husband who move to Denmark for a year and find out the secrets to why Danes are the happiest people on earth.

I'm almost through Paul Tough's book The Years that Matter most. It's non-fiction and it's work related… but it lays out some interesting questions about education. It's been a quick and illuminating read to see some of the strategy behind stuff I deal with every day… but also depressing af to understand that a lot of education policy isn't actually about improving things but driving positive press to multi-billion dollar companies.
