Tasty Eats | Spinach, Tomato & Bacon Quiche

September 30, 2014
I'm a huge fan of quiche!! I love that you're able to mix in anything that sounds good to you, pop it into the oven and have breakfast, lunch or dinner ready within the hour! I made this quiche on Sunday night to have for dinner on Monday and it's the perfect dish to reheat and eat throughout the week!!
1 box of frozen spinach
2 oz. on any cheese (I used a mac and cheese blend)
1/4 cup of another cheese (I used mozzarella)
1 cup of milk
4 eggs
1/2 tsp garlic
handful of cherry tomatoes
5 pieces of thinly sliced turkey bacon
1 pie crust (I used a pre-made one)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Spray your pie dish and lay down one pie crust
3. Thinly slice and cook the turkey bacon
4. Combine eggs, milk, first batch of cheese & black pepper - mix well
5. Spread spinach on bottom of the pie dish
6. Layer the second cheese over the spinach
7. Layer the tomatoes & bacon on top
8. Pour egg mixture
9. Sprinkle any additional cheese you'd like over the top
10. Cook for 45 minutes
11. Enjoy!!

Yes those are also some of our leftover wedding napkins in the background, I went a little overboard ordering them!!

You can choose to make this without a pie crust - just make sure the dish is sprayed so that your spinach doesn't stick to the bottom!

What's your favorite food to include in quiche!? Are you a fan?

Weekending | Not Quite Fall Yet

September 29, 2014
Happy Monday lovelies!! We welcomed weather in the 80's this weekend and it felt more like summer than the start of Fall, this New Englander is not complaining!! I promise that before I moved to Boston I never talked about weather as much as I have in the last few years!
I could probably sum up this weekend with lots of eating, baking & breaking bad watching!
Standard Friday night sushi!
Saturday we went to watch my nephew play soccer - proud aunt over here, he scored 3 goals!!
My heart pretty much explodes when I see this!!
My sister makes the best apple pie I have ever tasted!! She was teaching me her ways on Saturday and I'll be sharing the recipe soon!
The most pristine and beautiful day on Sunday!
There is a new "neighborhood" right outside of Boston that has opened called Assembly Row. It has shops, restaurants, living...pretty much everything you could need and is still accessible via train!! The rendering above is what they anticipate the final project will look like.
We had the best time exploring & plotting out new restaurants to try.
It's a great mix between industrial and serene with views of the Mystic River.
Obviously I had to do a little shopping and ended up buying this great BCBG Fall hat from Saks Off Fifth! After seeing Ashley with this beauty, I new I needed a Fall hat!
Finished out the weekend with a quiche that will be on the blog later this week!!

I'll leave you a great quote to start the week!
Now it's your turn, share your weekends with Meghan and I! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!!

Friday Favorites Round-Up

September 26, 2014

TGIF everyone!!! This has been a pretty eventful week which means I'm ready for a relaxing weekend! I have a packed list of favorites this week so of course I'm linking up with doll face Amanda to share them!

Favorite Song

After hearing a contestants rendition of this song on The Voice, I have had it on a loop!! I hope I'm not the last to the party on this one (it came out in 2013), but I love it!

Favorite Workout

Monday night I was invited by Pact to come out to their last Pilates Bootcamp in the park. It was a fun event with over 200 women in attendance and I even got to see Christina which always makes me happy! Pact is in app in which you commit to making fitness goals by putting money on the fact that you will meet your goals. If you don't the collective pot goes to the people that have made their goals. You can have a fitness, food or veggie pact! 92% of people on the app actually meet their goals...interesting concept!! Would you workout harder or eat better knowing you could win/lose money?

Favorite Recipe

Would it be cheating to say that my favorite recipe of the week was the one I made on Sunday?! Probably, right!? Since I'm all about variety we also made this Chili recipe on Monday night and it was delicious and perfect since we both got leftovers for lunch!!

Favorite Quote

This one might seem a little odd, but I actually have an entire board dedicated to Quotes on Pinterest!! They are the perfect little reminders to have on hand and when Stephanie from Letters from Rita reached out to create a custom design for me - it was hard choosing a favorite! How pretty is her writing?! I so wish I had that talent!! I'm in love with the print and can't wait to frame it - trying to figure out a perfect little spot!

Favorite Look

I normally go for celebrities for my favorite look - but when I saw this outfit that Rachel from Pink Peonies posted yesterday, I could help but love it!! It's so girly and chic - the shoes matching the bag in the most perfect way! This one was a close second!!

It's Handled | Olivia Pope Style

September 25, 2014
It's no secret around these parts that I am a huge fan of Scandal! I think the writing, plot and characters are all amazing. What I love most about the show is the 2nd star and I'm not talking about Fitz! Olivia Pope's wardrobe has become such a scene stealer that The Limited created a whole collection. I thought it would be fun to pay homage to the show kicking off it's fourth season tonight with two of my very own Olivia Pope worthy styles!!
Olivia Pope Style
Tweed Skirt Suit// Ann Taylor
Sloan Sheath Dress//Banana Republic
We know that Kerry Washington's character can rock a pant suit like no other - but since she isn't hiding a baby bump this season I thought it would be fun to see her dressed in more dresses and skirt suits.  She can't say no to a structured bag and a great, but comfortable heel is a must traipsing around D.C., and this one comes in four colors!! The one staple that can't be forgotten - a great draped jacked - with a stand out collar.

Free People Tank// Nordstrom
Although it's rare - she does have some dressed down moments and when those happen there is no shortage of red wine and popcorn! I love the idea of her being super trendy with drawstring pants, just in case there is the need to run for her life! On top she'll have her usual over sized sweater, but under that we play it a little sexier with a gray tank.
Please tell me you're just as excited for the Scandal premier tonight!! What would dress Olivia Pope in?
I'm also over at Karly's blog today talking about Vegas Fashion!!

Flowers - Not Just a Centerpiece

September 24, 2014
Happy Wednesday all!! We're halfway through the week and today I'm over Wedding Party sharing my ideas on how to incorporate flowers into your big day...here's a hint - none of it involves centerpieces!!!

If you're not engaged/not interested in weddings, I'm also guest posting over at Amanda's blog sharing some of my favorite Fall Bags!!!

Tasty Eats | Shrimp Saganaki

September 23, 2014
Shrimp Saganaki
When reading through the Newlywed Cookbook, mind you I have never read a cookbook before, it wasn't the name of the dish that caught my eye, but the ingredients that went into it. This was easily one of the top 5 meals that I have ever made and it was incredibly easy and not labor intensive in the least!

What You'll Need:

1/2 lb peeled shrimp
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
3 oz. feta - I used President Feta Crumbled with sun dried tomatoes and olives
1 large bulb fennel or 1 large onion, thinly sliced - I used the onion
6 small ripened tomatoes- I used cherry tomatoes
salt + pepper
red pepper flakes

Cooking directions:

If the shrimp you bought isn't already slit down the seam/vein, make sure to do so halfway. Wash them in salty water - think sea water and then drain.
Heat the oil in the frying pan and then add the onion and cook over medium-heat until it's soft. (about 5 minutes)
Add the tomatoes, salt and red pepper flakes and once the tomatoes start to release their juices add the shrimp in.
Shrimp Saganaki
Add most of the feta and stir to heat for about 3 minutes once the shrimp has cooked. To me, what made this so delicious was the cheese - if you don't mind feta, try getting a seasoned one!
Shrimp Saganaki
Transfer to a shallow bowl and top with remaining feta. You can add parsley if you have some on hand - we didn't! Season with pepper as needed! Then serve hot - eat and enjoy!!

Paired with:

Boiled Baby Potatoes with Garden Chives
Boiled Baby Potatoes
1 tbsp sea salt + more for seasoning
1 lb baby potatoes
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
handful chopped chives

If you have the time to boil the potatoes go for it - but we opted for the steam fresh variety and it cut the prep time down to 8 minutes! Once the potatoes are done, toss them with the oil and herbs in a serving bowl and mix/coat them and they are read to be served.

I honestly can't say enough great things about this recipe, it was fast, easy and delicious!! I'll be making this in the near future again!!

Have you ever tried this recipe? Are you a fan of Mediterranean food?

Weekending | Last Days of Summer

September 22, 2014
Happy Monday lovelies!! You know when you have a weekend that's pretty fantastic, but you can't quite pinpoint what made it so amazing?! A weekend where you get all your to-do's done, manage to make it to a gym class & try out new recipes is a win in my book! It's just the little moments that make it memorable!!
If you notice the picture clarity is a bit better around these parts that's because I'm finally out of the stone age and have upgraded from the 4s to the iPhone 6!!
She's gold and I'm obsessed!

I'm not an avid documentary watcher, but every once in a while I'll see a title that piques my interest. Friday night we watched Fed Up - a film that sheds light on the food industry and just how intertwined with the government it really is. While I'm always conscious of what I eat, now thanks to this movie - I'll be reading the labels a little more closely!

So I might be a little late to the party on this one, but in my defense a few months back we tried to get into the show and the first two episodes were so brutal, literally! This weekend we decided to give it another chance and are officially hooked on Breaking Bad!! I see a lot of binge watching sessions in our future!!

Saturday, Gary and I went to The Vault which is home to the New England Gator Club! Even though the Gators lost, it wasn't necessarily a blow-out like everyone thought it would be. It was a really fun time and always great to meet some fellow gators!

I have been craving chicken salad for the longest time and Sunday found this recipe using greek yogurt, avocado & onions! Stuffed in a little pita and it made for the perfect lunch!
I'll be sharing the Shrimp Saganaki recipe from the Newlywed Cookbook this week and let's just say Gary and I both agreed that we hadn't had anything that good in a long time!!

Our little bar cart area is coming together little by little. I finally purchased the frames to showcase the prints from my friend Marissa's Etsy shop Go Chic Yourself. We also bought a few bar cart glasses from West Elm.
Stemless Champagne Glasses//Bier Glasses in store only & on sale
Sunday night I finally got started on our honeymoon album and putting all the prints in order. You'll remember it's one of my goals for September and it's well on it's way to being done!

And now here we are again with Monday and even though we look at Monday's like this...
I say we...

How was your weekend? Hope you'll share in the link-up!
