A Tour & Lovely Blog Award

Happy Thursday!!! I’m jumping on the Blogland Tour bandwagon and sharing my process! A huge thank you to Leslie, Lindsay, Julie, Olya & Kerri for asking me to share!!

via

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m working on my Friday Favorites post (taking that super literally) and coming up with ideas for the next few weeks. I try to have a good idea of what thing are looking like for the week starting on Sunday, but sometimes posts get bumped because of a Link-up I want to participate in or another idea that sounds more appealing to write about! I don’t write posts out too far in advance and I rarely have anything in drafts!

How does your work differ from others in its genre?

I think that the biggest difference between my blog and others is it’s my voice that is coming through in the writing and I hope you guys can “hear” that. I try to write how I speak! Aside from that, I don’t think my blog is that much different than other life & style bloggers out there! Although I did have fun posting my first Vlogso I’m hoping to incorporate a few more of those next year!!

Why do you write/create what you do?

It’s 100% pure fun for me!! It’s the creative outlet that I have always wanted and it’s led to so many friendships that I wouldn’t have made otherwise, not to mention the opportunities that I’ve garnered from my little space have been amazing!! The interaction I have with everyone is why I keep blogging!

How does your writing/creative process work?

I’m pretty similar to other bloggers in the sense that everything around me brings ideas out!! If it’s cold outside it sparks a “winters essentials post,” or if I’m traveling a “how to pack a carry-on” post is born. I just make sure to jot ideas down and then when I’m struggling for posts or things to write about, I’ll pick those. Magazines are a huge source of inspiration for me as is Pinterest!!!

I’m keeping the tour going with three more blogging beauties!!

Karly from Miss in the Midwest

Karly is a born and raised Midwest girl. After living in three different Midwest location in the past year, Karly and her little family finally just settled down in their first home in northern Wisconsin. Her blog, Miss in the Midwest, chronicles her take on beauty, life & style in the Heartland by sharing product reviews and outfit inspiration and chatting about random life musings!

Pamela from Sequins & Sea Breezes

Pamela is a Florida girl and a huge football fan!!! She is mommy to an adorable fur-baby and when she’s not busy dancing with friends or tailgating at games, she showcases her incredible style on her blog! I seriously wish I could pull of a bold lip color the way she does!!

Amanda from Meet @ the Barre

Amanda is a “Jill of all trades!!” When she’s not busy being a Nurse Practitioner you can find her teaching barre or teaching students at USF. She’s easily the funniest person I’ve ever met and it shows through all her posts!! She’s also about to become a Mrs. in February and I obviously love reading all her wedding posts!!

I was also nominated by Amanda from Kids & Cabernet for the Lovely Blog award to share seven random facts so here we go. I always love learning more about other bloggers so I hope you enjoy these!!

1// I speak Russian fluently and actually learned to speak it before learning English!

2// In keeping with the “Russian theme” I played competitive tennis for 12 years and had the Anna Kournikova braid to prove it!

3// I could eat sushi every single day of the week if not for the threat of mercury poisoning! I could also eat french fries every day…

4//I have to sleep with the fan on even if it’s freezing outside. Something about the white noise that puts me at ease!

5//I am purse obsessed!! I have more than I care to admit and “treat” myself to a nice bag each year, usually around my birthday! My dream bag is the classic Chanel Flap Bag….swooning! It’s an investment right!?

6//I always knew I’d move to Boston after college, but after visiting Charleston this past March I would love to live there…or retire there!

7// I love office supplies – specifically notepads and pens!! I don’t know what it is but a new pen always makes me happy!!

That’s a whole lot about me today…but I hope you enjoyed it!! Do we share anything commonalities?!

xo,

I loved reading about your creative blog process – it's so fun to see how each of us handles our little spaces of the Web! Thanks so much for nominating me – I hope to do it in the next few weeks or right away in January depending on the craziness of our move. πŸ™‚ Girl, I also sleep with a fan on regardless of the weather. Also, school supplies? Pretty much my favorite thing to shop for.

I need a picture of you with this braid stat. I for real use to be obsessed with her ponytail braid. I use to always try to make one but my hair is so thin it's a pitiful attempt. I'm in great company!!! Now I get how this whole thing works not going to lie it was slightly confusing. Thanks for all your sweet words! I love that you try to write as you speak… that's what I do! Someday, girl! Someday we will meet in real life πŸ™‚
I hardly ever have drafts saved! Some bloggers pull out drafts from years ago and I'm like, seriously? I wish I had all sorts of back up ideas in my drafts, ha ha! I do have post ideas in my "notes" section of my phone though… my brain is fried after being pregnant (seriously, pregnancy brain and mom brain are REAL!) and if I think of an idea, I have to make a note or I will totally forget by the time I can sit down at the computer!
Charleston is on my vacation destination list! But you know my love for Boston! I only wish I could live there someday!

My mom has that bag and I swoon every time. I should use it while she's out of town. Just kidding! Chris's parents live 1.5-2 hours from Charleston. We really want to go there, so hopefully our next trip down there we can. I keep a notebook with post ideas and try to draft something the day or night before. I look forward to reading your posts every and I have enjoyed getting to know you. You are beautiful, funny, and smart. Someday I hope to meet you too! πŸ™‚ Have a great day lady!!

we totally sleep with a fan.. heck right now we have 2 box fans, and in the summer we sleep with the ceiling fan as well. at home, we never had AC so surviving the aussie summer was impossible without a fan directed at your face, and it stayed on all year (just moved it during the 'winter' lol). um i could eat french fries every day as well.. every meal, actually. at least that wont give me mercury poisoning πŸ˜‰ though it will make me fat. lol. i have never been to Charleston! one day.. one day.

Yes to the sushi, no to the fan! Anytime there is a fan on I wake up stuffy… it's weird! And I didn't know you were fluent in Russian… I lost that a longggg time ago. I can understand my mom but that's about it. And Charleston would definitely be a great place to retire- it has the perfect relaxed atmosphere and most importantly, amazing comfort food!! xo

I always love these kinds of posts, it's so nice to hear more about the lady behind the blog. I'm kind of disappointed that you didn't post a picture of the braid! That's so cool that you played competitively for 12 years. A classic Chanel will probably always be a good investment. And I am definitely going to have to check Charleston out. Boston is still a dream of mine. Maybe in a few years…

Yay, I am so glad you shared your writing process. Also, your seven random facts are kinda creepy to me because i could literally copy and paste most of them, and they would apply! I did competitive tennis too, but only in high school. (I did the other "Russian" thing before that and trained at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy. I ended up quitting after many, many years because I wanted to be a normal kid and see my friends instead of training 10-12 hours a day! Haha.) I was planning to move to Boston after college before I met Chris (even though I had never been before October. I had always felt a weird pull to the city), and now I am SO obsessed with wanting to visit Charleston. Thankfully, Chris has an interview there in January!

We actually almost ended up in Charleston which is crazy to us because we're Canadian. My boyfriend had a job opportunity there, but he ultimately decided he wanted to go back to school.
