Warm Weather Wanderlust | Puerto Rico
After 36 hours of being cooped up in doors and literally being snowed in, I'm eagerly dreaming of our beach vacation in April!! With an upcoming trip I think we all know what that means....planning & shopping! Jenn has already given me a few suggestions, but if any of you have must see and do activities in Puerto Rico, please let me know!
As much as I love lounging on the beach with a fun drink in my hand, I have to be honest and say I easily get bored. Thankfully so does Gary, which is why we travel really well together. Flights have been purchased, hotel has been booked and I already have a few activities planned that include some of Puerto Rico's most famous sites like Bio Bay & the Bacardi Factory tour, for Gary of course!
I've read that El Yunque National Forest and Castillo de San Cristobal are also must sees, but if I had to pick between the two I'd love to go to the forest. Shocker for some that know me, but at least I'd get a good workout in and then seeing the waterfall's would be my reward!
The second best part about going on vacation is planning the outfits!! Luckily I have a few staple pieces that are good for any island or beach destination, but some new wardrobe essentials need to be purchased!
I'm beyond obsessed with the convertible cover-up, talk about a space saver - there are about 4 different ways to wear this! I also already purchase the hi-lo skirt and this fedora hat is the essence of Puerto Rico!
A little less than two months left and I can't wait, probably because we're getting another snow storm this weekend...
What are you must haves on a beach vacation? Any suggestions for Puerto Rico activities?
xo,
loading..
Love the outfits you're loving, too!
ReplyDeletePuerto Rico has so much fun stuff to do, you will not be bored (and you're not going over Good Friday which will ensure that things don't shut down). All of the things you have planned so far will be so fun, and walking around Old San Juan will definitely take up a lot of a day (or an entire day depending what you do).
I am eagerly awaiting Spring, too, but I don't have the mounds of snow to blame on it--hoping that you're able to get out soon!!!
So so SO jealous of your PR trip! Youre going to have such an amazing time! Ive never been to PR or Id give you suggestions but Ive heard its beautiful! I love that orange romper... and every other outfit here! :)

I am beyond jealous of you right now! I am so glad that you get to dream of a warm and sunny destination in April, and I agree planning the details like outfits and day trips is the most fun. I cannot wait to hear all about it!

ReplyDeleteI love all of your pretty clothes, you have me dreaming of warm weather now!

You're going to have so much fun! We'll be there next month on a cruise stop, and I'm pretty sure we're going to tour the Bacardi Rum Factory too since we didn't get to last time. I also love all the little shops and bars/restaurants in Old San Juan with the cobble stone streets. And another favorite of mine... ziplining! :-D
ReplyDeleteAh a beach vacation! I'd be jealous if you weren't so snowed in. You definitely deserve an escape! You absolutely must do the Bio Bay! I went a very long time ago on a family vacation, my aunt arranged a little boat to take us out in the dark, which I'm sure is still there. It's pitch black and you're on a boat, driving out into who knows what because you can't see a thing and then all of a sudden you stop and they splash the water a little and it glows. It was a really cool experience that I would definitely recommend! Aside from that I don't really remember much aside from wandering around old San Jaun, a teeny tiny bit of some jungle place, and being semi miserable on the bacardi tour because I was in middle school.

Ahhh I love Puerto Rico - we used to go so much as kids (my mom's family is from there). YES El Yunque, Old San Juan, and I also like Las Cavernas De Camuey - they're such pretty caves. And always the beach... with a drink in hand, it's a must :)
ReplyDeleteBasically anywhere warm would be really great right now! You'll have a blast. That royal blue dress is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe Bacardi tour sounds like such a fun side activity! I'm halfway through my current beach vacay and am not eager to get back to the cold...T and I have been talking about planning a warm weather getaway for late spring, so I'm excited to start planning that trip as soon as I return from this one, haha!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any ideas to share because I never go on vacation because I would never leave my winter for anything haha.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an amazing place, what stunning photos.

I have never been to Puerto Rico, but those pictures are beautiful! Cheers to a beach vacation too. We are headed to Jamaica in April! Chris won an award at work and it included a trip. :-) Hope that you are having a great day so far too!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe went to PR for our honeymoon and we Loved it! You are going to have so much fun!! We are the same way and like to mix beach days and activities. The rainforest was my favorite thing we did there (we rented a car - super easy). My hubs loved the bio bay and I thought it was pretty cool. Old San Juan is really cool. We did the Bacardi tour and it wasn't bad. There is an island you can go to right off PR that is supposed to be amazing. If you need any other tips, please let me know! I did a post on our trip too. Excited for you girl!
ReplyDeleteAh so fun!!!! I have heard it is so gorgeous!! I am the same way I can't just lay around! Maybe one day haha but when I go one trips I have to have it all planned! Loving all of the tropical attire! That dress is so cute!

So. Much. Snow. I seriously can't believe it! I've never been snowed in, either. Crazy!! But thank heavens you have this vacation to look forward to! It sounds AMAZING!! I am dreaming of a beach getaway so I'll be living vicariously through you!!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous that you have an upcoming vacation! Ryan and I were considering PR for our anniversary trip in October, but we simply don't know anything about it - I look forward to hearing about everything from you when you get back!
ReplyDeletesweet!!! a beach vacay sounds awesome right now considering it's cold as f*ck up hurr. i've never been but it looks amazing.
ReplyDeletemy beach must-haves: music, a good book, a good hat, sunglasses and a bottomless glass :D
Ahh you guys are going to have so much fun!! After the insane amount of snow you have had this week, you deserve this!!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO jealous. I have never been to Puerto Rico, so I can't wait to see your recap. and yay, fun outfits - you know I've already got my Europe outfits planned, lol. I'm worried it won't be hot enough though.. eh, I'll worry about it later. I'm the same though, I love the beach - like a lot - but I get super bored and need to DO something, and KC is the same. But I do miss the beach. I wish I could go somewhere like Sydney that has tons to do and tons of beaches to visit. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThe cover up is my favorite- but doesn't look like they have the navy now! I think if I (and husband) had to choose between the fort and the forest, we'd pick the fort. Too many slippery creatures live in the forest for us to encounter. Which is the problem we have even with Florida in the spring/summertime! -Dorrie @ Bear Den Plantation
ReplyDeleteI can definitely understand dreaming of Puerto Rico while snowed in! Love all of your outfits! Planning for vacation is so much fun, isn't it?? :)
ReplyDeleteI’m so ready for spring and summer! When’re you going to be in PR? We’re staying there for a night after the wedding before we catch our little plane to St. John for the honeymoon!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I need a vacation SO BADLY! However, we won't be going on one for a while…sadly

I'm SO glad you have something fun to look forward to in the midst of all that snow! I found that to be crucial in making it through the Minneapolis winters. I've not been to PR, but it looks so unique and historic, it's on our list!
ReplyDeletePuerto Rico is so beautiful. You are going to have so much fun. :) I definitely agree that the rainforest with waterfalls is better than the fort (I definitely only like to hike if it is up to a waterfall!)...but the fort is really neat too if you get a chance to see both. I also love Old San Juan. :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, so excited for you! Though I have never been to PR and am dying to go! We go to the Bahamas and Jamaica a lot via cruises since it's so cheap from Tampa
ReplyDeleteMy friends are going to PR this weekend but with another storm approaching they aren't sure if they will get out or not. Ugh..You totally need a break from this winter. I feel like I have spent so much time at home this winter. I too am looking forward to a vacation!! I'm going to London in March. It won't be super warm but it will be warmer than here!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your warm destination vacay!! You are making me yearn for warmer temps!! Love all your outfit picks!
ReplyDeleteFirst, this trip sounds so fun! Second, that tulip skirt from Target is everything!!

How exciting!!! It's always so fun planning a trip and all the excursions and sites to see. I've only flown into PR on a layover so don't have any good advice but I'm sure you guys will love it. I saw all the Boston snow on the news yesterday and I'm sure you're ready to get out of there.
ReplyDeletePlanning vaca outfits is SO much fun. I have never been to PR, but that Bacardi tour looks like a blast! I love doing at least one excursion type activity, whether it's snorkeling, hiking, or something to get out and about and explore. You're going to have SO much fun!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a vacation so soon!
ReplyDeleteWe are going in June for a destination wedding and just can't wait ))

Puerto Rico!! Uggghhhh I haven't been in a few years but I always think about going back. Being Puerto Rican I definitely don't get a chance to go as often as I'd like. You're husband will love the Barcardi factory and you have to have to have to visit El Yunque! It's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so jealous! I've always wanted to go to Puerto Rico. My hubby's adopted family is from there so I think we'll go with them sometime :) I don't know any specifics though so I'm no help. Hope that snow stops! I heard that it's crazy up there. I can't even fathom!
ReplyDeleteYou will definitely not be bored in Puerto Rico. Lots to see and do.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sit on the beach and read girl. Or swim or walk around and take photos. I've never been bored in my life. LOL
I've always wanted to go to Puerto Rico!! Definitely fun to have a trip to look forward to :)
ReplyDeletelovejoanna.com
We're getting ready to get slammed with the cold... I just want to escape to warm beaches myself
ReplyDeleteI wish we were snowed-in! I love snow and being cooped up inside while it flurries :)
ReplyDeleteHowever, oh heck yes to this! Looks incredible!
I'm dying of jealousy right now - although you have earned a beach trip with your massive amounts of snow!
ReplyDeleteYou and I are in the exact same state of mind. I have been doing lots of planning and shopping over the last few weeks in a much needed trip which is planned at the end of March! I cannot wait! :) XO

I've never been to Puerto Rico, but it looks amazing! I get bored too and like to have some activities planned. I checked out the convertible cover-up and I've have to do a little practicing, but it looks amazing. We are supposed to get another storm this weekend too and we have a flight booked for Saturday, so we'll see what happens!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Puerto Rico but I've always wanted to. I'm definitely dreaming of a beach! Dustin is like you guys, he get's bored after a day or so. I'm the opposite, give me a beach chair, a book and a drink and I'm good all week haha. We usually do half relaxing and half excursions every time we go to Mexico :)
ReplyDeletecan i please come in your suitcase?! i'm in dire need of a vacation. all of your summery picks have me dreaming :)
ReplyDeleteOh hel-lo that hi-low Target skirt! I saw it over the weekend and thought I'd never know an occasion when to wear it. Vacation would be a great excuse!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your upcoming vaca! All this snow is driving me bananas!!!! Is it spring yet??

So, so jealous! I haven't even see snow yet this winter and already dreaming of the beach! I'm the complete opposite when it comes to vacations though- I could sit on the beach all day and not do anything else so my necessities are much less!
ReplyDeleteAfter all that snow you definitely need a vacation girl! Your are going to have a fabulous time and I love all your warm weather picks!
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm so excited for your sunny vacation! I have one booked for september to Mexico and I'm already planning! Can't wait to see your outfits :)

The beach sounds absolutely amazing right now! Chris and I talked about going down to the gulf sometime next month. I hope we make that happen! I love all your beach clothes picks :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous spot to get away to! You're going to have the best time (and look damn good in those cute clothes!).
ReplyDeleteI love all the pics you chose to show off PR - and I have major obsession with waterfalls. Ive always thought the sexiest thing in the world would be to makeout behind a fall in the tropics somewhere isolated.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are getting away in sept - more than likely to Belize or Mexico for our 1 year anni - but PR is on our radar too! Have fun planning your trip lady
Oh I'm so jealous of our upcoming trip! You are going to have a blast! It's the best time to go!
ReplyDeleteyay for warm vacays! i must say these are all good choices. a panama hat is my summer staple for years now. a good investment! can't wait to see what you get and then what you end up doing!

ReplyDeletethat looks SO AMAZING. i look forward to seeing the pictures!
ReplyDeletePuerto Rico is on our list for a possible trip later in the year so I can't wait to hear more about where you guys go and what you do while you're there. One of my brother-in-laws went for a wedding last year and loved it!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous, this already looks like it is going to be a wonderful trip! Warm weather and a tan sound amazing right now as we are all enduring freezing cold temperatures. Xo, Stephanie
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so jealous of your vacation coming up! I'm with you, the second best part is the outfit planning!!! How fun! :) I can't wait to hear more about it as it gets closer!
