New Month, New Goals

I think we can all agree that February, albeit a short month, was definitely the toughest month of Winter to survive, but now we can look ahead to March and get excited for Spring!! I’ve mentioned before how much I love sharing my goals, mostly because it really holds me accountable! It’s one thing to say I’m going to do something for myself, but when you put it out into the universe you feel like you gotta do it!!!

For February I wanted to:

1// Unsubscribe from emails I don’t read: PASS! I registered for Unroll.methanks to Christina’srecommendation and it literally cut my emails down by 75%!!!

2// Make 2 new meals from the Chelsea Market Cookbook: Half Pass! We made one from the cookbook and one from our Newlywed Cookbook, so we’ll just call this a pass since they were two new recipes…

3// Warm water with lemon 4x per week: PASS! This was actually really easy and where I’ve seen the most improvement is actually not feeling bloated during the day – this was amazing and something I’ll be continuing for the foreseeable future!

4// No gel manicures: PASS! This was another really easy goal and now I’m actually looking forward to my manicure this weekend!

5// Closet Cleaning: Pass! It took about three hours one Sunday, but I got it done and ended up selling all the clothes that I wasn’t interested in anymore on eBay, so double win on this one!

Onto March:

1//Finalize the details for our trip to Puerto Rico in April! Still need to book a few excursions and buy one cover-up for the beach!

2//Camera needed! After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to invest in a new camera. Right now I have a point and shoot camera that I only use on vacations and I’d love to have my blog photos have better quality than just the iPhone! So your help and input is needed…my only requirement is that it’s not bulky!

3// Create Boston & Favorites Tabs on the blog! One of my most requested posts is a Boston everything one and people email and ask me where they should go, eat and stay in Boston and I would love to have it all in one place! Same goes for some of my favorite products – one stop clicking = happy people!

4// Get to bed earlier & hit the gym more! I’m going to lump these two together because I’d rather go to the gym in the morning, which is just harder when I don’t go to bed early enough. Getting to the gym has been just plain hard this last month just due to weather being so horrendous, but no more excuses! Not going to set a number goal here, just plain get to the gym more!

5// Visit the MFA! I think I may have just shocked Gary with this one since I’m not really a museum person, but we live in a city that is full of museums and I just never take advantage of it…will it happen this month? I hope so because there are a few exhibits that have peaked my interest!

Do you have any suggestions for cameras? Any goals for this month you’re hoping to cross off your list?

xo,

I took Mark to the Ringling Museum after the wedding and he had never seen it before. Definitely adding that to our mutual list…..more culture less tv watching. Going to bed earlier is always on my list but I just get all my creative thoughts at that late night bewitching hour. You hit every single thing off your list last month get it girl!!!! Can't wait to hear more about your Puerto Rico plans!

Great goals. I use the Nikon 3200 but only sometimes because it is a bit bulky… they say it's a great beginner's DSLR though. And why no gels?

Great job with the goals last month. I need to use that unsubscribe me link!

I LOVE our camera. It's a DSLR and it's a Canon Ti3! Pretty easy to use, but we've also bulked it up with an extra flash, tripod and remote. I love the quality of our pictures now. It isn't small though, so you'd have to get a cute camera bag if you wanted to carry it around.

I'm with you on gym in the morning. I feel better once it's done but if I'm up too late, forget about it. Good luck, lady!

This month is FULL of small lil goals and I'm stoked to cross em off my list, one by one!

Love your goals and you did so well in February!! I know you're so ready for some warm weather in April and yay for an excuse to buy a coverup! Yes – I can totally see people taking advantage of everything Boston being located in one place. Are you doing that on your own or hiring someone to help you with the web/coding side of things? Good luck with the camera search. I have a nice one that was a gift but it's very bulky.

Dang girl! You killed your February goals! I need to seriously declutter my inbox and closet. Maybe if I clean out my closet I can justify a llittle shopping spree…hmmm. I have a DLSR that I love and was a reasonable price but it's definitely not "throw in your purse" small. I hope you find one you love! I seriously need to start going to bed earlier. I realized this morning that the reason Im so exhausted all the time is because Im only getting like 6 hours of sleep a night but Im going for at least 12 hours a day. Sleep is definitely important! Good luck with all of your goals this month!

I'm loving the goal of purchasing a camera 🙂 I'd go with a DSLR one even if they are a little bit more bulky… you can find really cute camera bags/purses that totally make up for it though. Plus, you won't even notice it once you realize how great your pictures start turning out! I'm blaming the weather for my lack of gym participation this month too, but it was 70 & sunny yesterday so I'm running out of excuses (oops!)

Great goals. I am not sure if an DSLR is non-bulky. I tend to only use mine at home or for special occasions though. The going to bed earlier is a goal of mine too especially with how early I get up.

Look at you go girl with all your passes! And yayyyy for your PR trip, can't wait to see pics! And I too take the majority of my blog pics with my phone as it's much more convenient. I have a nice camera, but only use it on vacation as well. I need to break that habit.. bad!

As for working out, if you can't make it/don't feel like trotting out to the gym start working out at home. I mix it up at home with Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, Rush Fit, and online Barre3 workouts. Pinterest also has tons of amazing at home workouts 😉

I love reading your goals!! I need to try the lemon water, I still haven't. Less bloating is definitely a big enough incentive to try it. I need to start waking up and working out. I have been waking up earlier, but instead of working out I browse pinterest and end up buying things… Not exactly going to help me when it's time to put on a bathing suit haha. Great job on your goals last month! A new camera and your PR trip sounds exciting!! I have a good beginners DSLR camera (Nikon 3200), but it is on the bulkier side. I would totally live vicariously through your Boston recommendations. Also- there was a job listing last week for an Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Manager for the Red Sox. So close to applying but would be a MASSIVE lifestyle change for us if I got it! As for digital cameras- I got the Samsung NX2000 last year and love it. It's in between a DSLR and a point and shoot. You still have interchangeable lenses, and it's super light with the regular lens on it!

You are killing it with your goals, girl! I have no doubt that you'll achieve all this month's goals, too. May I ask where you're staying in PR? Ryan and I decided to head there in October for our anniversary! As far as a camera goes, I use the Canon Rebel T5i, but the key (for me, at least) is to purchase a 50mm lens. It's the best!

Congrats on hitting pretty much all of your February goals! Excited to hear more about your PR trip. A new camera is a great investment for your blog. I recently got the Nikon D3200 at a great price. I love the quality of photos but still need to take a photography class to figure out all the fancy settings. I agree with Pamela, that's its not a throw in your purse camera so I still end up using my iPhone a lot cause who wants to show up to Friday date night or the beach or wherever with a big clunky camera.

Way to go with your February goals! Having a DSLR does make such a difference. Yes, they are a little bit bulky. There aren't many out there that aren't, but once you see that it's not that bad to bring with you and the picture quality is amazing, it's all worth it! We have the Canon T5 and currently taking a photography class to learn the basic ins and outs. We still use our point and shot here and there but if we are going somewhere that we want great pictures the canon is coming along 🙂 Winks and Eyerolls

girl I have no idea about cameras, I kinda want one too but I don't want a bulky (or expensive) one so I haven't bought one yet. I have a basic point and shoot that I only use for vacation as well, and in NYC I didn't even bring it because the iPhone is pretty good!
Love the idea of the Boston & Favorites tabs.. and might I also suggest a travel tab? Lol. It may be a better idea to check it out during spring/summer – it has a fantastic courtyard! I haven't gotten a gel manicure in over a year but not by choice, just because of the move to Australia, but I must know why you decided to stop getting them. I used to get one once a month and they helped me to stop biting my nails, and always kept my hands looking good.

As for camera, I cannot say enough good things about the Cannon Rebel SL1. I use it for the blog and for traveling. When I went to the store to buy one h salesperson had me hold the cameras in my hand to find the most comfortable fit and then narrow down from there. He said that if it's not comfortable then you'll never use it. He was right!
I have a tiny hand and ended up getting one of the tiniest DSLR camera bodies on the market. I use this baby every day!

Great goals! This week I have been getting up at 5am (and going to bed at 10 – ew) to run and I can't tell you how amazing I feel. I love lemon water, too! I throw some in a bottle for work all day. I need to clean my closet, but sooo don't want to, lol.

I love reading your goals – you're right, it does keep you accountable {I need to do the same!}. I have an Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera and I LOVE it. It's smaller, lightweight, and most importantly not bulky! I use it for all the food shots on my blog 🙂

I love these goals- it's something I do as well but haven't been comfortable publishing so kudos!

As for the camera, It's more about the lens that the camera, but that said, I have had a Nikon for years and it was literally the best investment. I can even use my dad's old Nikon lenses and they work great. My suggestion if you have the $$ is to buy a 50mm f/1.8 lens to add on to the body. It creates great depth of field, and is good for everything from outfit posts to food shots or travel. Let us know what you end up with!

Great job on the Feb goals & good luck on March! I do like museums but I never take advantage of them. There are so many in Houston & there's one day a week (or a month??) that they are all free but I never go.

Way to go on all those goals!! So jealous that you're going to PR! That's definitely on my travel bucket list! I'd love to see a tab for Boston's Faves because its also on my travel bucket list! Might have to check out that email subscription clean up too! Such a great idea!

I love the idea of setting month by month goals like this! I definitely need to work to go to bed earlier, too!

Congrats on doing so well with your February goals!! You go girl!! 🙂 Having the Boston tab is so fun and perfect for everyone that has questions. I cannot wait to see what you recommend. I have been wanting to go to a couple of the museums in Houston. This will hopefully happen this month, and if not sometime soon.

You killed February's goals!! I am definitely going to have to try the warm water. How much do you drink? I use a DSLR camera (most of the time) but it's pretty chunky. It's the Canon Rebel t3i and while I wish it was smaller sometimes, I had no problem lugging it all over Rwanda.

You should get a Sony Nex 6. It's way smaller than most DSLRs, but it has the same capabilities as a Canon 5D. You can also easily upload to your phone via wifi. It's pretty much the best ever AND has interchangable lenses.

I got a new camera last summer and I love it! It's the Canon G16. I have a DSLR – Canon Rebel T3, (which is a great beginnger DSLR), but it's pretty big and bulky. Not in comparison to my hubby's Mark ii but still. I got the G16 because it does everything a DSLR can do (except interchangeable lens) AND it fits in almost all of my purses without adding a ton of extra weight. It's kind of the best of both worlds: point and shoot, DSLR. And you can hook it up for wifi downloading which makes blogging pics that much easier. I still use my iphone way too often but I am in love with my G16 and would high recommend it!
