4th of July Weekend Fun | Maine & Boston

Hello there friends and happy Tuesday! Doesn’t it feel great starting the work week off on a Tuesday?! You are feeling refreshed coming off the long weekend and you know there is only a short week ahead!! This weekend was pure perfection – from the company to the weather – we had a perfect 4th of July weekend!! Here’s a few snaps from Vacationland a.k.a Maine and the city!

Driving up Friday after work, we spent part of our holiday weekend up in Harrison, Maine at Long Lake and were surprised with the lack of traffic we hit! I’m always amazed at how close we are to different states – within two hours we had made our way through 3 of them! Arriving later in the evening Friday was a wash, literally one of the most epic lightning storms I’ve ever seen!

We spent all day Saturday on the water – had my first and to be quite honest, probably last, tubing adventure! I’m so uncoordinated I actually fell off the tube before the boat was even moving! My only saving grace was going with my 5 year old niece!

Loved that an ice cream craving hit all of us at the same time so we made our way via boat to the Long Lake Creamery. They just recently re-opened and they have more flavors than you know what to do with!

On Saturday night I was able to knock what I thought would be the hardest item off my summer bucket list – I went to my first ever drive in movie! It was exactly how I imagined and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the movie being projected! Finding Dory was adorable – maybe not quite as good as Finding Nemo, but still really cute and baby Dory is just about the most adorable thing ever!

I’ve decided that if given the choice between a lake house and a beach house – I’m going for the lake house, which is surprising even to me since I grew up right next to the beach! On Sunday, we cruised around the lake one last time and took in all the gorgeous homes!

We had passed this cute farm a few times on our way in and out of town and I couldn’t pass up an impromptu fashion post – stay tuned it’s coming this week!

After a full day of eating, catching up & relaxing it was time to head back to the city! As hard as it was leaving paradise, we didn’t want to get stuck in the traffic coming back home – so we had one more day to enjoy our long weekend in the city.

The 4th was incredibly toasty in the city, but we braved the heat and headed to Joe’s on the Waterfrontfrom lunch with our friends. I finally had my lobster roll craving from the weekend filled and I have to say – this was the first lobster roll I’ve seen to have such large lobster pieces! I was in heaven!

Tia’s Waterfront Barwas somewhere I frequented when I interned in Boston so long ago, but Gary had never been so we all decided to enjoy a little afternoon cocktail! Brought back lots of fun memories! You may have caught this on snapchat (@blovedboston), but Gary literally soaks in the sun – what I’d give for his natural tanning abilities!

This wasn’t my first time in Harrison and even though we spent most of time at the lake, we drove through town to see some of the happenings and I have to say – I’d go back in a heartbeat. I’m pretty sad to see this weekend go – it was perfect and you can find me at the gym all week trying to work off all the ice cream, lobster rolls & burgers I ate!!

OK – I gotta know more about you falling off the boat ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha
I see you in long sleeves & jackets at the drive in???? That's a good way to sit at a drive in – not when its horribly hot with bugs everywhere.
I'd choose a lake house every time!
Glad you had a great 4th.

I was loving all of your snaps of your trip to Maine! It looked so gorgeous, and I'm so jealous that you're that close to that many states up north! It takes us a few hours to get out of Texas! The drive in movie looked like so much fun, and that's awesome that you were able to cross that off of your summer bucket list! I hope your Tuesday has gotten off to a great start!

I was in Maine for my sister's wedding just two weeks ago! It's pretty. Cold, but pretty! Sad you didn't enjoy tubing, that was one of my favorite things to do growing up! Did you ride on your belly or did you sit in the tube? It's really hard to hold on when you're on your belly going over the boat's wake but if you're in the tube it can really hurt your rump so… Trade-offs, right?

It looks gorgeous there and so cool it's a short drive and that you're so close to several states so you're exploring new places opportunities are almost limitless. That lobsta roll though!
