Putting Together My Baby Registry

I’m so excited for the post today because of how much research goes into a registry! It can be pretty daunting and there are so many items to consider, reviews to be read and making sure everything has a high level of safety measures performed! With all those things in mind – I relied heavily on friends and Pinterest!

Before I get into what items I was told would be the most necessary, I wanted to talk about BabyList! This is in no way sponsored by them, but the ease of adding items to my registry without ever having to step foot in a store was amazing! You are able to add items to your registry from big box retailers like Buy Buy Baby all the way to smaller more obscure Etsy stores all from your computer! It’s the best of both worlds if you ask me! Everyone is able to reserve and choose their gifts online – pick the retailer you want to purchase from because BabyList gives you options and then you can have it shipped directly to the person who registered or shipped to yourself for the shower! Like other registries, for any items that aren’t purchased you get a percentage off after the shower to buy the rest of the items!

I  know that newborns don’t need a lot, but there are items that will make life a bit easier, or so I’m told. So now onto some of the registry items I was advised needed to be on my list!

Boppy Pillow || This is on every single registry post that I looked at and I love the fun design with the baby animals. I’ve heard that it’s great for when friends and family visit so that they are comfortable holding the baby as well.

DockATot Deluxe + Dock || More than once I was told that the DockATot needed to be on my registry because of how portable and perfect for newborns it is. The DockATot co-sleeper is made in Europe & designed in Sweden offering some of the prettiest patterns.  It’s is especially tested for breathability is all natural and 100% cotton. Thankful to the DockATot folks for providing Baby P with a set of her own and I can’t wait to share our experience once we get to try it for ourselves! If this item is on your wish list or a friend’s list – here’s a $10 coupon link for your purchase

LILLIEbaby Complete Carrier || My cousin’s husband is a chiropractor and did a lot of research into baby carriers before their own daughter was born, so when she suggested that I add this carrier onto my registry I didn’t ask any questions and based on the reviews it’s perfect as baby grows.

Skiphop Silver Cloud Activity Gym || I really liked the soft color palette of the activity gym, but loved that it still had stimulating colors for a baby’s eyesight. It’s plush enough for tummy time & has enough sounds and lights to keep the baby occupied as they get older!

Fisher Price Rock ‘N Play || I don’t think I hesitated for one moment to add this to my registry. I’ve seen it in action with all my friends who have children and they all sing Rock ‘N Play praises! This one was a no brainer for me!

Halo SleepSack || I know that not all sleep sacks are created equal, but this one seems to take the guess work out of swaddling! For some reason it seems so daunting for me to figure out how to swaddle, but thankfully I have a pro-swaddler in the family – my mama to help me learn!

Aden & Anais Swaddles || Keeping on the swaddle train, these are some of the softest swaddles that we’ve recieved. I know I’ll be using them for so much more including car seat cover, light blanket or even as burp cloth, but I will be trying them as swaddles as well!

Kekaroo Peanut Changer || Not your average changer – this bad boy doesn’t require changing pads or liners and wipes clean of any messes in a flash! Anything to keep something out of the laundry!

Ubbi Diaper Pail || I’m not sure many people would be excited about a diaper pail, but I love the sleek design of the Ubbi. The main reason I immediately added this to our registry was because it doesn’t require any special trash bags, you can just reload it with regular standard trash bags! A little bit of a money saver there!

Baby Nail Trimmer || Long fingernails are something that will not be inherited from me, that’s for sure! However, I do know that newborns nails grow like weeds and it can be pretty traumatizing trying to cut their fingers nails – I remember seeing my sister battling my nieces fingers to trim them and there were tears on both sides! We’ll see how I make out with this nail trimmer that promises to make it easy!

If I was to add everything from my registry this would probably be one of my longest posts, so I’ll stop here with ten of the items that I was told were musts! As someone who loves to gift an item or two from the registry and then a cute outfit for the baby, I thought many people might do the same, so I didn’t register for any outfits!

Would love to know some of your must have items for newborns!

Oh sweet mama, baby registry makes it seem even more real and happening! So much fun searching for all the best stuff for sweet baby girl; stuff is so much cooler now than when the boys were babies. Lol.

You choose the most wonderful things for the registry. Almost all of those I had in some form or fashion. Those halo sleep sacks are the best

Great round up! Registering is soooo daunting, but once you have some direction and you've made your list it's a lot of fun. We have the same diaper pail, and love that it's made of steel instead of plastic so it doesn't absorb the ummm smells. And YES to regular trash bags, because who wants to buy special diaper genie bags?! So exciting! <3

Rock n play is an absolutely MUST!!! I would recommend a Solly wrap for when baby is tiny. Heck, I used it until she was 6+ months!

Will definitely have to come back and look at this post whenever the time comes for us to register! I have NO idea what "gear" is necessary.

Great picks! The Rock n Play is definitely a MUST HAVE and I wish I had bought the Dock a Tot, I will for sure be getting one next time 😉 Some other things that are really good are the SwaddleUP arms up swaddles from Love to Dream, a portable changing pad for when you are out (I never wanted to put Marin on the public changing tables lol), and LOTS of burp clothes (we loved the Burt's Bees ones).

Other things you will learn as you go with your baby's personality – like Marin hated being in the Solly wrap, so I never ended up using it. And from the get-go, she wanted to sit up and see what was going on all the time – so the Baby Bjorn bouncy chair was perfect for us! xx

So many great things! Obviously I know nothing about most lol but I know every one of my friends with kids had a boppy pillow and swear by it. I seriously can't believe your going to be a mommy soon, I am so excited and happy for you guys!

So many good things — and so many things they didn't even have TWO years ago when Knox was born (and certainly not four years ago when Walker was)! My ONLY advice with the Ubbi (since we have it) is to get some scented trash bags and put a scent absorber in the bottom of it. Trust me on this; it's great for a few months and then really starts to smell. 😉 But still, so much more cost-effective than the Diaper Genie! 🙂

SO exciting! I love all your picks. I also recommend a boon drying rack and Dr. Brown bottles. Also lots of zip up onesies in the beginning. Good luck 😉

You will use the HECK out of that Boppy! That is definitely a must-have. The DockATot also looks awesome. They didn't have those when our kids were babies, but we used the Rock N Play sleeper instead. You will definitely want that, too! BEST THING EVER! Also stock up on the Johnson & Johnson Hand & Face Wipes. They kill germs but they're super safe and gentle even for newborns.

The dock a tot was hands down our favorite newborn item! The rock in play is awesome – I used to use it in my office and he'd just watch me work – The similar swing is amazing too.. Tatum JUST stopped using it.

You have a great list there!! The Rock n Play and boppy pillow are musts in my experience! I didn't have a dock-a-tot because I was turned off by the price. I think if I were just starting out, I would probably have splurged for it. I highly recommend having a few places to "sit" baby around the house. The rock n play is great, I also had a bouncer, swing, a sit-me-up and an activity jumper. I know they only fit in all them for so long….but it is so handy for when you need to run to the rest room, change out the laundry, make dinner, etc. Oh and just so you know, Zoe is at 18 months and we STILL use her rock n play to sit her in when I need to shower and Chris isn't home. Best money ever. Everything else she has long outgrown, but not that.

Good list! I remember how confusing and time consuming putting our baby registry together was! We did not buy or need a doc a tot. I absolutely loved the boppie nursing pillow and the boppie lounger! Get both for sure! My husband did research on trash cans and the Ubbi is what we ended up getting too. Good choice. Don’t forget a colorful play mat with fun hanging toys. They are great for tummy time. The nail cutting is not that bad as long as you clip while they’re sleeping. The Bumbo was great for helping our little guy learn to sit up on his own. We still use it to take with us to friends house who don’t have a highchair. It’s been super useful!!!! We did not co-sleep but rather put baby in a bassinet that attached to my side of the bed. I LOVED our Arms’s Reach Co-Sleeper! It was the best purchase for sure! Good luck mama.

Yay so exciting, and great round up 🙂 Bennett slept in the Rock N Play for the first 3 months, he did amazing in it. In case your little one hates being swaddled (B did) He loved the "Love to Dream Swaddle Up" one. It makes it to where they are snug but their hands can be up by their face, still enclosed. He slept so good in those!

So many good picks! That description of nail trimming is so accurate- I'm definitely going to check out that trimmer because we've tried so many other things and it never goes well. Mason loves being in the baby b'jorn bouncer and we love that it doesn't take up a ton of space and folds up flat which is really nice for traveling or moving easily from room to room when you're also holding a baby, lol.

I love my Lille Babe carrier! It's the best. I also have a K-tan that I really like for around the house, so I would add that on too. it's super easy to put on to be handsfree at home. The Lille babe is great, but a little more effort to get on. One of Elliana's first toys was this fischer price piano that she lays on and kicks, she still loves it. Highly recommend that also! My Breast Friend nursing pillow for sure.

I registered for My Brest Friend instead of the Boppy after reading some reviews and talking to people. It's not rounded so they don't roll off apparently? But I did get a regular Boppy pillow for holding the baby up instead of just for feeding.
I got the Ubbi too, because everyone swears the steel doesn't hold the scent the way plastic does…plus no special bags. Win-win!
