Back to School Shopping - Office Edition

Back to school shopping has always been my favorite! Something about new pens and supplies just makes me giddy! Let's pretend I'm going back to office shopping - here's what I would buy!

  • With how often I switch out my planners, I tend to go for pretty, but cheap ones. I'm loving my current one that has plenty of space for writing and to-do lists!
  • I've always loved writing things down and bloom daily planner tear off pads are perfect for every occasion. I really like the meeting & planning system pads.
  • I am the absolute worst when it comes to drinking water - out of sight out of mind. Trying my best to better at it, so this water bottle should do the trick.
  • I don't know about you, but cute pens & pencils always help to feel more productive
  • I always have the best intentions when it comes to packing my lunch for work and often use these bento boxes, but I also like these for salads.
  • I feel like the start of something new should be commemorated with a new bag - backpack or work bag - all the same! I put some serious wear into my spring/summer tote and have been looking into a newer one for all my daily essentials.
  • Typically when I workout at lunch I keep my gym clothes in a plastic bag, I think these reusable gym bags (that can be used for a lot of other things) are perfect!
  • I like to keep paper copies of things, especially when it comes to projects I'm working on. These expandable folders are perfect, plus you can tab each section.
  • My ultimate back to office purchase...is actually a label maker that I'm using at home to make everything more organized.

The more I started to think about back to school / office shopping, the more I realized I actually like the organization that comes with starting something new. Everything is clean and in the right place. We have a couple of changes coming up with the end of summer. The first is that I'm actually going to be going back to school, sort of. I'm going to be taking classes for a marketing strategy certificate (online) and I'll share the program and everything once I've finished. The other is that Sophia will be starting daycare in October for a few days a week and that will be a big change / adjustment for us all! All good and exciting changes, but scary nonetheless!

What do you like to treat yourself to at the start of a new "school" year?!

Weekending Fun

Happy Monday friends. Similar to everyone else, our weekends are full from here on out it feels like until October. Full of family time, friends BBQs & someone's first birthday celebration!!

We've been kicking the weekends off with dinner out on Friday night and this time we tried Hamilton! We're there for the early bird special at 5:00 on the dot and dinner is approximately 30-35 minutes, but it still feels so nice to be out, especially while Sophia is pretty content sitting and eating in a high chair!

My sister-in-law had us over on Saturday for a family BBQ and relaxation. I dressed Sophia in her first Lilly dress and I could not get over the cuteness!
 Still the best purchase of the summer - this fan is clutch!
We had a good old fashioned girls day on Sunday! First stop was a play date with friends - check out the adorable food truck that we may have to get for Sophia! We enjoyed a little shopping & lunch - girls only! I got a few housekeeping items done this weekend and finally got my Amazon Storefront set up!

Hope you have the best start to the week!

Links and Other Favorites

Happy Friday friends. Another weekend is upon us and I'm ready for the sunshine and some quality time with Sophia. Sharing some of my favorite things and recent reads as of late!

Recently Read

Anonymous Girl || This was the first time I listened to a book via Audible and it took a little while to get into, but once I did the book was quite twisty! Jessica agrees to be part of a study with Dr. Shields. The way she enters the study is through false pretenses, but what happens next is all the Dr's doing. Their sessions seep into the real world and you can't quite figure out who is telling the truth even up until the end. If you liked the Wife between us then you'll really like An Anonymous Girl.
Coldhearted Boss || Another Kindle Unlimited winner from RS Grey. You could say that Taylor and Ethan  got off to a hot start, but it quickly turned sour and then Taylor was desperate and somehow ended up as Ethan's personal assistant. What RS Grey does really well is the quick and funny banter between characters that helps build them up and make them feel real. It's lighthearted and perfect for Summer - definitely a lot of heat in this book!

Around the Web ||

  • Christina shared this incredible DIY floral table runner
  • The chicest picnic set up that I'll probably never be able to pull off
  • Smart surge protectors like one of these that make life at home easier. Turning lights on and off via settings - I'm here for it, especially when we travel.
  • We have no European vacation plans for the foreseeable future, but dreaming of this destination for our next big trip!

On Repeat ||

These tangerine orange high rise skinny jeans have been on repeat for a few weeks now. I love the raw hem detailing and the stretchy material makes them incredibly comfortable.
H&M has some of my favorite basics and this jersey top t-shirt is one of the comfiest I own. I have paired it with the skinny jeans above, my white denim skirt and some shorts as of right now. Versatile and only $4!
Thanks to Megan at Holy City Chic, I picked up these leggings during prime day and have not stopped wearing them! They feel like butter, the pocket isn't flimsy and actually holds your iPhone in place during workouts. They suck you in and aren't see through - perfect workout leggings!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

Most Used Baby Items | The First Year

We're nearing Sophia's first birthday and I cant help but think of everything that helped us survive this first year - my mom included, but unfortunately she's not for hire ;) From items I said I'd never order (wipe warmer) to things we couldn't have lived without (hello DockATot) I have broken it down to everything we loved. Lots of these things would be great registry items to add or gifts for friends that are expecting! I separated each item out into their own categories & I've also linked the posts that I wrote with our favorite items during the months!
Baby registry, what to register for, best gifts for a baby shower

For Comfortable Sleep

  • DockATot || You can read about my love for the dockatot here! This is without a doubt our most used item for the first 6 months of Sophia's life! We carted her everywhere in that and it was the best lounger / sleeper ever! When we transitioned her into the crib, we also used this so that she was a bit more cozy. Used every day from the day we got home from the hospital until almost 7 months and there is a size up in this as well, we just didn't get it. REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Sound Machine || Every single book, blog, advice column will say that your baby needs a sound machine to fall and stay asleep. We took the Taking Cara Babies class and she recommended this one. $20 and still going strong! We also got the baby shusher which was a miracle worker for the first 3 months of Sophia's life. Someone actually created a machine that makes the "sushing" noise so you don't have to. I'd stick this into the docktot and peaceful sleep was had by all! I actually have a hard time falling asleep without a sound machine now! REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Halo Bassinest || We had Sophia in our room for the first 6 months and while the Halo was incredibly large and heavy, it was wonderful being able to reach over and calm Sophia in the middle of the night or easily have access to her for those middle of the night feedings. There's a little light, it plays music and also does a gentle movement to help soothe the baby. REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Sleep Sack || Some babies love to be swaddled, others don't! Sophia was a fan and we had a variety of swaddles, but the Halo Sleep sack when she was was our favorite. It transitions from a swaddle as they get older as well - so we used this with the one arm out technique then both arms and then just a regular sleep sack as a blanket. REGISTRY MUST HAVE!

Feeding Time

  • Bumbo Seat || We started using this as soon as Sophia was able to sit up on her own. Besides the obvious use of using this as a pseudo high chair, putting toys on the tray can keep them occupied for 10-15 minutes, long enough to get the kitchen clean or take a shower! This 3 in 1 grows with the baby. Really great if you don't want to have a full high chair or have a smaller space like we do.  REGISTRY MUST HAVE
  • Bottle Sterilizer || I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it 11+ months of pumping if it wasn't for easy clean bottles. Thankfully my friend gave us her Dr. Browns sterilizer, but we would have registered for one if she hadn't. We put everything in here and of course it takes other bottles and parts as well. It's a must have and something we use every single day! REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Sippy Cups ||  We had quite the time trying to find a bottle that Sophia liked for milk, so I won't go into detail about the ones that worked for us. I didn't think babies would be picky, but alas they are, so get a few different ones to try and go from there. However, when it came to sippy cups, she had already mastered the bottles and took to the NUUK sippy cup like a champ. I love the little handles on this one and it seems to fall out of her hands far less often.
  • Happy Baby Pouches || Once we started foods with Sophia, I really wanted to try to make them myself, but when we would go out I love using these pouches. At first I would hold the pouch for her, but she's hands on now and can maneuver them herself. I look for the ones that have the least amount of sugar and the bonus is that any of them that she doesn't finish, I do because it's literally a smoothie! Sophia's favorite is "Pears Spinach and Kale"

Play Time

  • V-tech Crawling Bear || Probably one of the best toys ever because seeing Sophia "talk" and crawl right alongside this bear is the highlight of my day! She laughs and I think seeing it crawl really helped her learn to do it at as well.
  • Skip Hop Activity Center || From the time she was 4 months old, we have loved sitting Sophia in this activity center. A perfect place for learning and exploring. The colors are bright and fun, but it also grows with your child all the way into a play table. She's currently in stage 2 of the cruise and interact - perfect for pulling yourself up, standing & playing!
  • Sophie the Giraffe || This is such a popular registry item that I actually got three from my baby shower. I don't know what it is about this rubber teether, but I've yet to find a baby that doesn't love it. REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • V-Tech Sit to Stand Learning Walker || Around 6 months we purchased this for her and it has provided endless excitement/entertainment. I wont get into the fact I've memorized all the songs, but they do make them catchy! There's a reason there are over 5,000 almost 5 star reviews for this - it's the perfect learning toy. The play panel is removable so you can have them play just with that and I'm certain Sophia pulled herself up for the first time on the walker. Endless amounts of fun!
  • Goodnight Moon || We have many favorite books, but the one we read probably 5/7 days out of the week is Goodnight Moon. I actually have it memorized and it's my favorite one to end our night time routine with. In lieu of cards for my baby shower, we asked that people bring their favorite children's book and write a note on the inside for Sophia.

Getting Around

  • UppaBaby Stroller || My love for the Uppa Baby Stroller runs deep! We have the "Vista" in the Gregory color scheme and it's pretty much been used non-stop! It's heavy, but it has so much undercarriage space, we've often joked that we bought it as a way to lug groceries and other things home instead of carrying the baby. Uppa Baby has an incredible customer support program and they do regular "Tune Ups" free of charge so this item can last you for years - as it should. It also transitions from one child up to three! REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Baby Wrap Carrier || I am pro baby wearing all the time if possible! I'm pretty sure that I wore Sophia from the time she was 4 weeks old until 5 months - I felt like a mama kangaroo and she was in her little pouch! I absolutely LOVED being able to walk around, get things done around the house, have her sleep on me. There are tons of wraps out there, but Boba wrap is such an incredible quality for a fraction of the cost. REGISTRY MUST HAVE!
  • Nuna Pipa Car Seat || I did a ton of research into car seats and we ultimately decided on the Nuna Pipa for a few reasons, but the main one was that it could be baseless and used in any car at any time. As people who frequently take Ubers and at the time were using Zipcar we liked not having to rely on a base. It's certainly not the lightest car seat out there, but it was the one that worked best for us.

Miscellaneous

  • Diaper Warmer || Sophia was born on the 9th, I ordered this warmer on the 13th, two days after we got home from the hospital! Nothing worse than those middle of those night diaper changes and a cold wipe! One day of hearing a sad cry and I was done for! I definitely didn't think it was a needed item and but returned the other wipe warmer as soon as this one arrived!
  • Baby Bath || I registered for this amazing PUJ bathmat, but quickly realized it wasn't conducive for bath time after 3 at home baths. I quickly ordered this $18 tub from Amazon with over 3,800 reviews and absolutely loved it. The sling was great for when she was an itty bitty baby and then once she was able to sit on her own, we plopped her without it then she transitioned to the toddler side and we're on our last legs with it. For an $18 product to last almost the entire year of her life is an incredible return on investment!
  • Baby Nail File || I remember the first time I had to file Sophia's nails - I was a wreck. I was scared to hurt her and forget using nail scissors or clippers - I still haven't got the nerve to try that. The electric nail trimmer / file is the way to go and the bonus is that I've used it for at home manicures for myself! She's a fan of manicures like her mom so it's a fairly easy process for us!

I could probably go on with about 20 more products we couldn't live without that first year, but then we're getting into an obscenely long post! I tried to think about things that we used repeatedly that  made life a little easier, which is all you can ask for in this first year! What was your most used baby product from the first year?

Weekending - The Hot One

Happy Monday friends! Much like the rest of the country we had quite the heat wave so the majority of the weekend was spent keeping Sophia occupied inside!
Friday night was full of organizing and lots of purging. I put one of my prime day purchases to good use and organized all my makeup and skincare from my dresser. It's still a work in progress but it already makes everything feel more tidy!

The heat index said that it felt like 109 degrees on Saturday! We dined out twice, took Sophia on her first Whole Foods run & squeezed in a little shopping at the mall- pretty wonderful day!

Sophia & I spent the day at my sister's house on Sunday and even though it was just as hot as Saturday - time in the pool made it so much more bearable. Safe to say we have ourselves a little water baby - she loved her dips in the pool!

Our weekends always go by way too fast, but doing the best to soak up all the fun! Hope you have a great start to the week friends!

Links, Shows & Other Things

Happy Friday, friends! It has felt like the longest week and I am really ready for a weekend of sunshine and baby snuggles, with my baby who is almost a toddler - cue the tears! I have a hodgepodge of sorts for today's posts. Some things around the web that I found interesting, some bingeworthy shows that I've watched and recommendations from an Instagram poll I took and also a few new purchases I'm loving at the moment!

Shows ||

It feels like our Netflix subscription has sort of paid for itself with how many shows I've watched recently! The list has something for everyone! Oh, if you're totally into the Hills reboot, the entire series is on Amazon - happy watching!
  • Lucifer || Don't let the name throw you, yes it's about the Devil, but this show is so much more and I am eagerly awaiting the 5th season on Netflix. It originally aired on Fox and then after the 3rd season was cancelled. There were so many people that wanted to #savelucifer that Netflix picked it up for Season 4 and the final 5th season! Tom Ellis is amazing - watch one episode and I guarantee you'll be hooked!
  • Designated Survivor || Another show that was saved by Netflix and I didn't expect to like, but then just couldn't get enough of. I didn't watch 24, but after watching this series, I think I have to go back and binge on that one! Kiefer Sutherland plays the role of designated survivor who becomes president when basically everyone gets taken out. There were 3 seasons and it's coming back for a 4th! If you're a fan of politics and keeping up with current affairs, this is definitely for you - the last season was especially eye opening and on track with today's current events.
  • What If ||  Disturbing yet can't take your eyes away sort of show. This was binge watching at it's finest because after each episode you had to know what came next! There's only one season and I watched it in one week - thankful for a commute to and from work on the train! It really asks the question of "what would you give up in order to have what you've always wanted?"
  • Parenthood || I was so late to the party on this one, but my friend Julia convinced me to give Parenthood a watch, describing it as "This is Us" but better and I would have to agree. I laughed, I cried and I was completely invested in the Braverman family! There are 6 total seasons and the show does a great job ending! I wasn't left feeling like I wanted more!
Some other shows that were recommended to me were:
  • Fleabag || Amazon
  • Billions || Showtime
  • Outlander || Starz
  • Unreal || Hulu
  • Queen of the South || USA and Netflix
  • Single Parents || ABC

Current Favorites ||

My evil eye necklace broke (courtesy of Sophia pulling too hard on my neck) and I bought this bracelet with the evil eye and Hamsa. I absolutely love it!

We bought these travel blackout shades for Sophia's room and they have been a game changer with the sun being out so late in the Summer. They have suction cups to stick to the windows and depending on the size of yours, one will work for two windows. We cut ours in half and were able to cover both windows in her room. They're also perfect for travel and I wish we had them when we were in Canada.
Revlon Lip Polish is my newest lip color of the month and I love it! It glides on, isn't sticky and has really great staying power. The color I'm using most is "act natural"

I purchased the Supergoop "all stars set" and have been using each of the products for a few weeks. The hero product for me is the unseen sunscreen which feels like a great primer - not oily at all!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Style Crush | Midi Skirts

I have no shortage of skirts in my closet, but one type seriously lacking are midi skirts. I love the feminine feel & whimsical nature they evoke! I think they look great dressed up with heels or dressed down with a simple t-shirt. Here are a few that I have my eyes on and hopefully will be styling soon!
Utility Midi Skirt || Pleated Midi Skirt  || Midi Wrap Skirt ||
Pleated Orange Maxi Skirt || Kelly Green Skirt || Striped Linen Midi Skirt ||
Big Bow Midi || High Waist Midi || White and Black Polka Dot

I don't know which one to start with, but the pink pencil midi is pretty close to what I normally wear without having to step out of my comfort zone too much, but I love the pleated kelly green skirt for a dressier day at the office!

What are your picks for the midi skirt trend?

Weekend Fun & Amazon Prime Day Picks

Happy Monday friends! The sun was shining all weekend and we took full advantage of it.

Our sushi Friday's are back, sort of!  We were able to take Sophia to our favorite spot on Friday for an early dinner. No rolls for her yet, but soon!

Saturday we made our way to the Cape for a friends party. Traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be which made for a much more pleasant car ride with the little one!
I snuck out on Sunday morning for a solo Target and latte run. I knocked off so much of my to do list between 7-10 a.m., guess it helps that someone decided we're all going to be early morning risers!
Still wearing my white skirt on repeat with this camo shirt (currently $6)!

It's also Prime Day today and tomorrow! My two favorite Amazon deals are Kindle Unlimited (first month free) & Amazon Music - both trials that we use daily! I always pick up an echo dot during the sale because these make the best gifts!

Some other things that may or not be on be a prime deal are these Slingback Leather Sandals and round rattan bag. I'm also on the hunt for a new rug for our living room and a fun gift for Sophia's first birthday, but really want to get her this unicorn rocking horse

Are you guys shopping for Prime Day? Hope you have a great week friends!
