Sephora Mini's to Try

October 30, 2019
When checking out at Sephora I'm always letting others get in front of me because I spend way too much time perusing the aisle of the mini products! In fact, most of my makeup right now is mini sized and I don't mind it one bit. I'm able to try out new products and less of it goes to waste because I end up using all of it. I'm also able to get more higher end products without the guilt of spending a fortune on them! Here are some of my tried and true favorite Sephora Mini's as well as some others I can't wait to try!
  • Summer Friday's Jetset Mask || This moisturizer / mask is a holy grail item for me! It's pricey at $25 for the small tube, but so worth the price. It works wonder at keeping your skin hydrated and I have one in my makeup arsenal at all time!
  • Fenty Beauty Instant Retouch Primer || This primer from Fenty Beauty is the first thing I've tried from the makeup brand but it wont be my last. It goes on silky smooth, doesn't have any weird smells and my makeup goes on flawlessly after! Definitely going to be a repurchase for me!
  • Better Than Sex Mascara || I love mascara and often have three or four tubes that I'm using at a time. The one that I always make sure to have is Too Faced Better Than Sex. The smaller tube doesn't dry out and is used up in a few short months versus having to throw a half used tube out after 3 months, which is the desired shelf life of mascara.
  • Cover FX setting powder || It took me a solid 3 years to get through my last setting powder so wanting to try something new, I went for the Cover FX setting powder which does a really great job especially with setting concealer - no cakiness over her!
  • Urban Decay Heat Petite Palette || This is one of my most used mini palettes! Super easy to travel with and perfect for fall / winter looks. One I'd really like to try next is the HUDA Beauty palette in Mauve.
  • Kiehls Avocado Eye Cream || One of the best eye creams out there! A little goes a long way, so even though it's pricey, you'll have this for a good long while! It doesn't have a weird smell and you can absolutely see a difference with fine lines after repeated use!
  • Watermelon Moisturizer || My friend got me the larger one as a birthday gift and once it ran out, I bought the smaller one to have. It's so lightweight and perfect to slather on for your nighttime routine before bed.
  • Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks || These are my favorite eye shadow sticks and are very long wearing as well as pigmented. This is a new mini collection that includes 3 of my go to colors! Definitely an add to cart item for me!
  • Bite Beauty Mini Lipstick Set || I'm lipstick obsessed and pretty sure I get a new one every two weeks and then never get to fully use them. When I can, I opt for mini sets and Bite Beauty always has my favorite colors. This is one of my favorite gifts to get!
  • Too Faced Concealer || I have the full size version of this concealer and if I could, I'd go back and get the mini, only because I know it'll take me forever to get through it all. It can be used as foundation as well, but because it's super thick, I like it as a concealer. If you're a fan of shape tape by Tarte, this is a nice alternative. I also really like the doe foot applicator.

Would you rather a full size or mini size product? Any favorite from Sephora right now?

Weekending | New Jersey Edition

October 28, 2019
Happy Monday, friends! We are back from a fun weekend in New Jersey celebrating my nephew's first birthday! Sophia was supposed to come with us, but she was getting over a little virus and I didn't want to push her with the car ride so she stayed back with my mom while Gary and I had a little getaway! Huge thank you to my mom who is just the best EVER!

Before the party on Saturday we went for coffee at Bwe Cafe with a friend and down to the river to take in some of the best city views!

The birthday party was at Hudson's Table in Hoboken which is a fun event space and cooking kitchen for private parties. The food was incredible and it's always so much fun to see family that we don't get to see that often! Found another excuse to wear my Michael Kors dress (currently on sale!) and Loft booties - also being the designated balloon carrier has it's perks!

That night we went to dinner at Orale Mexican Kitchen for a little parents night out! Considering we were all asleep before 10 the night before, it's a miracle we made it out for any sort of late dinner!
It was such a great weekend and worth the time in the car to celebrate such a sweet baby in our family! Pretty excited for the week ahead and getting ready for all the Halloween festivities!

Color Crush | Green Fall Vibes

October 23, 2019
I was perusing my closet the other day, trying to figure out what to wear and realized there is a serious color lacking in my wardrobe - that color being green! I've been finding myself gravitating towards hunter greens and deep forest greens and rounded up some pieces that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet!

  1. I am so close to getting this Rebecca Minkoff satchel - I have an older blue version that I wore to death and loved! The color and the amount I can fit would make it a great every day bag!
  2. On the other hand, I am loving smaller bags for the weekend's and this Tory Burch camera bag is perfect and will fit the same amount as my Gucci Marmont bag!
  3. I bought a similar ribbed dress at Primark, but this one from Amazon is nearly identical.
  4. How beautiful are these tassel pumps - so chic, feminine and classic!
  5. I have the best intentions with hats, but I always forget about my great oversized felt ones. This one is pretty close to something I already own!
  6. This faux suede skirt is in my cart right now and is 40% off - I love that I can wear it to work or out with booties
  7. J.Crew makes beautiful and pretty sturdy winter coats - this one is gorgeous. Also love this one and I have the lady day coat in a green already!
  8. Acrylic hoops are my favorite because they still make a statement but are super light to wear. These come in 9 different colorways and are only $8.99!
  9. I bought this fun camo scarf a couple months ago and now that the weather is getting cooler I have been wearing it a ton. The camo isn't actually that overpowering and just looks like a fun print.
  10. Last year I got "Wrap Party" on my nails for the holiday's and really love how the dark green color looked! It's dark, but not too dark!

What's your color crush this season?

Day in the Life

October 21, 2019
It has been quite some time since I shared a day in the life post - there was one I did pre-baby and then one for what it was like on maternity leave (almost exactly one year ago). I wanted to share a little glimpse into what our days look like when Sophia goes to daycare, which to be honest she just started going to a few weeks ago. My mom watches Sophia three days a week and then the other two days she's in daycare. We are so incredibly fortunate to have the ability to decide how many days we wanted Sophia in daycare and the fact that she's with my mom during those other days brings me a sense of calm that I need!

My alarm goes off at 6:20 AM and if Sophia isn't already in our bed (seriously sleep training needs to be a class taught for all new parents) then I get her bottle ready and get her ready for the day. I found that getting her ready before I get myself ready is just easier, it also gives Gary a little more time to sleep in since he goes to bed way later than I do. I always pick her outfit out the night before and we make our way into the kitchen so I can get everything ready for Gary to drop Sophia off.

I'm out the door at around 7:20 and immediately on the phone with my mom to talk about the night and any other tidbits. My commute is relatively short, so I'm either watching a show (currently rewatching One Tree Hill) or reading a book. Most days I'm at my desk before 8:30.
Quick OOTD - this ruffle top from Loft is quickly becoming a favorite of mine even thought I don't gravitate towards plaid!

The rest of the morning is spent in meetings, getting presentations ready or a slew of other things. My role is multifaceted and ranges from working on sponsorship's to planning events to scheduling photo shoots to preparing marketing materials - every day is different and I'm really lucky to love what I do!

I like to think that I'm fortunate that the gym I belong to is close by so without any plans for lunch or a gloomy day outside, I decided to get a quick workout in. I typically eat lunch at my desk - it's a definitely a habit I should break, but most times this is the only time I have to workout!

The rest of the day is spent very similarly to the morning. Finishing up projects I'm working on, sometimes I check into the discussion boards I have for my Marketing Strategy courses which I'm almost done with!

I leave work at 4:30 and head straight to get Sophia from daycare! Best part of the day for sure! On our walk home we saw a turkey - happens more frequently than you would think!

We're home around 5:30 and it's dinner time! I had leftovers from the night before - crockpot chili! Gary had an event after work so Sophia and I played for a little while and then it was time for our nigh time routine, which starts at 6:30.

She has a bath, bottle, gets cozy in her jammies and we read books! It's one of my favorite parts of the day because she just loves when we read to her. The Pout-Pout Fish books are my favorite to read - I think I enjoy it more than her!

Once Sophia is down, I get her bottles cleaned, lunch made and prepare everything for the next day. I created a little daycare check list and it really helps me make sure I have everything ready for her. That gives me a couple hours to myself. this particular night was a good TV night - Grey's Anatomy (yes I still watch) and A Million Little things, but I was in bed by 9:30 and reading this and dozing off!

There you have - the most typical day in the life! Not fancy or glamorous, but these days are my favorite!

4 Books to Read Next

October 18, 2019
Happy Friday, friends! This week has gone by at record speed - probably due in large part to the shorter workweek for most and a lot of deadlines that needed to be met at work! I'm looking forward to a relatively laid back weekend compared to the one I had last go around! I also can't believe how close we are to Halloween! I have our costumes all picked out and I'm looking forward to dressing up for the first time in years! One of the streets we live near goes all out of Halloween and even though Sophia is still so young, we're going to attempt a little trick-or-treating. Switching gears...I haven't read as much as I would have liked to, but these four books are actually worth the read if you are looking for something to curl up with!
Ugly Love || I devoured this book in exactly one day!  Tate and Miles didn't meet under the best circumstances and his drawn back nature is likely to keep Tate at distance. The two of them are oddly drawn to one another and after a mutual agreement on what their relationship should look like, they go all in. They both think they can handle the rules that each of them outlined, but matters of the heart have a funny way of making things harder. It's told in the past for Miles and current time for Tate. I definitely cried, but that's to be expected with Colleen Hoover books! I will say this was way more R rated than other Colleen Hoover books I've read, so if that's a turn off for you, fair warning!
Just Love || Ainsley and Rhett have known each other for years and Rhett has always been very aware that the one person you don't fall in love with is your best friend's sister. Unfortunately, both Ainsley and Rhett can't deny their feelings for one another once she moves back to Charleston. It's told in alternating voices until it's finally all at the same time. You find out why Rhett had to let Ainsley go, which I wasn't expecting. There were definitely emotions stirred up while reading this and I cried, but not at what I thought would make me cry (you'll know if you read it). It was an engaging story with unexpected turns and a little sexiness thrown in!
Bring Me Back (Kindle Unlimited) || Imagine that you were about to interview your high school idol / crush. You know, that boy band lead singer that you always fantasized would be your boyfriend one day - that's exactly the person that Claire is interviewing for Rolling Stone magazine. Only now she's not a teen, she's a single mom on the cusp of forty and he's still just as handsome and endearing as she thought he would be, but coming off of a divorce. A friendship forms and then love, but what's in between for Claire and Chris? This was such a fun read for anyone that had an outlandish crush on a celebrity! Definitely a book to get lost in!
Back Forever (Kindle Unlimited)|| Since I really enjoyed Bring Me Back, I decided to dive right into the sequel. I was happy the author gave us more that just an epilogue into what happens with Chris and Claire's relationship. This is when real life sets in and they navigate not only their own lives, but also his celebrity life. The author touched on a lot of real life things like parents getting sick, living with you, in-laws and through it all you sort of forgot that Chris was a rock star. There was also more of the story told from Chris' point of view which I enjoyed. Overall, these two books were really solid reads for me!

I started The Tattooist of Auschwitz this week and it's a really different type of read for me. Obviously, true stories, especially ones that are told about the Holocaust are so difficult to read, but it has such rave reviews that I wanted to give it a go. What are you currently reading?

Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat Review

October 16, 2019
Thank you to Britax for gifting the car seat in this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
When it came time to think about a new convertible car seat for Sophia, I immediately felt overwhelmed with the number of options out there. She was quickly approaching the height limit on her infant car seat and it was getting very snug, so we wanted to make sure we found something that would continue to grow with her and also something she'd be comfortable in.  There are so many things to consider when choosing a car seat, the most important one of course being safety. I painstakingly read through almost all the 600 plus reviews on Amazon and really felt like the Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car seat would be the best seat to get before our Portland road trip and beyond.
Once the seat arrive, I was pleasantly surprised that there was no assembly required. This may be the case for all car seats, but not having the additional step of putting anything together was a win in my book! Installation is always worrisome, but the easy ClickTight buttons make it no more than a 5 minute process. You press the middle ClickTight button and it lifts so that you can pull the seat belt through to secure it. It is pretty heavy weighing a little under 30 pounds, but I attribute that to the steel frame and base.

p.s. those are Gary's hands 😁
Sophia is still rear facing and will be for as long as possible or until she hits the 40 pound limit with this car seat. There are 7 different recline positions available making it compatible with almost any car it's being installed in and it's also a tad narrow, so it doesn't take up as much space as I would have expected. Not only does the Marathon ClickTight Car Seat have side impact protection but it also has an absorbing base.
One of the best features in my opinion is the extra slack that you have in the harness. There wasn't any awkward maneuvering getting Sophia into the car seat and trying to get her arms through the straps. There's an easy release button that gives you more slack and then it's just as easy to tighten.
The true test came as we started the road trip. Verdict - Sophia was asleep before we hit the highway and slept the entire way to Portland, so I would say she's a huge fan of her new car seat!

It's always hard to navigate the world of baby / toddler products - ultimately choosing what we hope is the best product for our child. We're really happy with our new Britax car seat for Sophia and we'll be part of the Britax family for years to come. If you're interested, the color we have is "Ashton" and that particular one is exclusive to Amazon.

Weekending Fun

October 14, 2019
Happy Monday, friends! What a blur of a weekend it was - there were rehearsals, target runs and a wedding! It was a whirlwind, but I was grateful to have a full day with Sophia on Sunday! I could have used an extra day off today, so if you're one of the lucky ones with Columbus Day off - enjoy!

The wedding took place in the Grand Masonic Lodge of Massachusetts. It's the oldest masonic lodge in the country and this was the first wedding to take place there! It was pretty historic and it was the first wedding I coordinated that I actually cried! The vows were so beautiful and both families coming together was so special! Beautiful autumnal flowers by Centre Piece Florists and the bride blinged out her converse sneakers!

After a busy week and missing bedtime twice this week, I am so happy that Sophia and I had ourselves a girl's day! Lunch, train rides, playground adventure and a target run, it was the best Sunday! She's been so into seeing herself on the camera recently, so I obviously obliged with lots of selfies for her!

Have a great start to the week!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

October 11, 2019
Happy Friday, friends! This has been a week - the weather hasn't fully cooperated with the events that I had earlier in the week / have this weekend, but things happen and reinforcements like heaters and getting permits from the Boston Fire Department sort themselves out! I wish I could say I have a relaxing weekend ahead, but that's just not the case, so instead I'll share a few snaps from our weekend filled with pumpkins!  Last weekend we went to Western, MA to see Gary's folks and took a drive through the country and saw all the beautiful colors of Fall! We stopped into Atkins Farm and while it wasn't a full fledged pumpkin patch, it did give us a few cute photo ops!

Oversized Sunglasses  made their debut over the weekend!
On Sunday we took Sophia to Brooksby Farm in Peabody about 30 minutes from Boston. It was our first time, but we'll be back again! The pumpkin patch was perfect and then the true highlight was Sophia seeing all the animals! She loves them and getting the chance to feed them literally has her squealing from delight! It's the sweetest sound in the world!

 Loves picking up everything!
 Sitting with her loot!
We had high hopes of going apple picking, but the line was long so we opted to go into the farm store and grab a bag of already picked ones - still just as good in my opinion. Once Sophia is older and understands what apple picking is, we'll actually do it!
Looking at our Fall Bucket list, we've already made quite a dent and I can't wait to cross more off! Hope you all have a great weekend!
