Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat Review

Thank you to Britax for gifting the car seat in this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

When it came time to think about a new convertible car seat for Sophia, I immediately felt overwhelmed with the number of options out there. She was quickly approaching the height limit on her infant car seat and it was getting very snug, so we wanted to make sure we found something that would continue to grow with her and also something she’d be comfortable in.  There are so many things to consider when choosing a car seat, the most important one of course being safety. I painstakingly read through almost all the 600 plus reviews on Amazon and really felt like the Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car seat would be the best seat to get before our Portland road trip and beyond.

Once the seat arrive, I was pleasantly surprised that there was no assembly required. This may be the case for all car seats, but not having the additional step of putting anything together was a win in my book! Installation is always worrisome, but the easy ClickTight buttons make it no more than a 5 minute process. You press the middle ClickTight button and it lifts so that you can pull the seat belt through to secure it. It is pretty heavy weighing a little under 30 pounds, but I attribute that to the steel frame and base.

p.s. those are Gary’s hands 😁

Sophia is still rear facing and will be for as long as possible or until she hits the 40 pound limit with this car seat. There are 7 different recline positions available making it compatible with almost any car it’s being installed in and it’s also a tad narrow, so it doesn’t take up as much space as I would have expected. Not only does the Marathon ClickTight Car Seat have side impact protection but it also has an absorbing base.

One of the best features in my opinion is the extra slack that you have in the harness. There wasn’t any awkward maneuvering getting Sophia into the car seat and trying to get her arms through the straps. There’s an easy release button that gives you more slack and then it’s just as easy to tighten.

The true test came as we started the road trip. Verdict – Sophia was asleep before we hit the highway and slept the entire way to Portland, so I would say she’s a huge fan of her new car seat!

It’s always hard to navigate the world of baby / toddler products – ultimately choosing what we hope is the best product for our child. We’re really happy with our new Britax car seat for Sophia and we’ll be part of the Britax family for years to come. If you’re interested, the color we have is “Ashton” and that particular one is exclusive to Amazon.

It seems like there are SO many car seats out on the market, I can't even imagine narrowing it down to one. I'm glad you found one you like! Sophia looks so cute and comfortable in it. I love that pony tail!! Happy Wednesday!

Look how happy she is in her new seat! Picking a convertible car seat when Serena turned 1 was so intimidating! And now that we recently turned her around to forward facing, my mommy heart can't let go of my itty bitty baby <3

Awe she's snug as a bug in there. A few friends have Britax and love them. I didn't realize how easy our car seats are until I actually made Chuck show me how to install. Car seats are really impressive these days! Love how cute she looks, haha

I love how sleek it is, too! With car seats, you can easily feel as though you have to comprise style for safety, but with designs like this, it's great that you're given BOTH! We have the Chicco Key Fit infant car seat that we used for Aviah, until she outgrew it and now Ariah is using it. I absolutely hate the fact that the harness won't stretch enough on the sides or that there aren't any slits to tuck them into when getting her in and out. So annoying! I'll have to keep this one in mind when it comes time for Ariah to get a new one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, girl!

I can't say enough good things about Britax! We got in a major car accident years ago and it kept my kids both safe!

What a great seat! I didn't realize they have one that grows with them. We have a lot of Britax products that we love. We'll need to switch the baby to a new seat as he grows so I'll have to look into this one. Thanks for sharing!
