The Holiday Rewind

Happy Tuesday and happy 2023!! Was this break restful – I guess in a sense it was because I had a hard time remembering what day of the week it was, but there was a whole lot of family time, organizing and movie / binge watching. I thought we were going to have an adventure every single day, but with all the illnesses going around – us included, I wanted to keep it as low key as possible.

Hanukkah and Christmas overlapped this year, which doesn’t always happy, but is certainly nice – especially when I can explain to Sophia why we celebrate both holidays. We also only saw a random Santa this year – not the usual mall Santa and even though I was a little bummed, still glad we got a picture.

We had a very low key Christmas eve and Christmas at home – like I said, Mason and Sophia were both getting over something, so at home was what we needed. Sophia really understood Santa / the holiday this year and it was fun to see. We spent all day playing with new toys and then Sophia and I headed to my sister’s house for a little while to do some presents with them. If you can’t tell, Mason is in his rebellious stage – jumping, climbing and getting into EVERYTHING!

The kids had the week off from school and the first half of the week, the weather wasn’t very nice. I am especially grateful that we have an entire dedicated playroom where the kids can stretch out and enjoy themselves – it’s also nice to have the toys somewhat contained to one area of the house.

We have a great rink that opens for the season nearby and Sophia is always excited to go! I’m hoping next year Mason will be more of an active participant!

New Year’s Eve and New Years day were so low key! Such a change from previous years, but honestly it was exactly what we wanted! A low key dinner at home, glass of champagne & in bed before midnight – made for a very happy New Years Day! I couldn’t believe the weather – mid-50’s with sunshine! Fresh air was mandatory! I started a little TikTok challenge to do a different lip combination every day of the month – come follow along! Very much into wearing my hair in braids to sleep and coming out with the perfect waves.

We went to my parents house New Year’s Day to celebrate with them and my sister’s family also stopped by which was a nice surprise! I can’t even tell you how ready I am for some sort of routine back! I couldn’t wait to take down the decorations and get the house back in order!

How has 2023 started out for you?!

Happy New Year sweet friend! We skipped the mall Santa too, and took Serena to a local spot on the river where both Santa and Mrs. Claus were which was a lot of fun. Yay for low key holiday fun, and re-organizing the house. Cheers to a healthier start to the year <3

It looks like it was a good holiday season. We kept it low key with sicknesses going around as well. But we did get some family time. Happy New Year!
