Recently Read – February Edition

Happy Monday, friends! Coming to you with another recently read post! I’ve got two romcom books and two thrillers. I think I have found the reading groove that works for me – reading two books in two completely different genres at the same time really keeps me entertained on all fronts! I definitely think all four of these are worth the read!

Before I do || Absolutely loved the writing, loved the story and throughly enjoyed the characters! Audrey and Josh are polar opposites and are about to get married. As they get closer to the wedding day, Audrey starts to have her doubts, especially when Josh’s sister shows up at the rehearsal dinner with none other than Audrey’s “what if” guy. They shared one amazing day and then she never heard from Fred again. What if destiny is trying to interfere, what if everything that keeps going wrong with the wedding is the universe trying to tell Audrey something! The characters are just perfect- all of them! Loved this book and instantly downloaded my next Sophie Cousens book!

Her Every Fear || A friend from work gave me a few of of Peter Swanson’s books and I had no idea what I was going into reading this. It was a thriller, through and through. I read it before bed, which probably wasn’t my smartest idea because there were parts that were a little too scary for me because of the suspense. Let’s just say, if this was a movie I would be scared to watch, but would still watch it. Kate has had her share of trauma, so when her cousin Corbin in Boston says he’s relocating to London for 6 months for work and does she want to swap apartments with him, she decides it’s time for her to explore more. When Kate arrives in Boston, Corbin’s neighbor is found murdered. Could Corbin have done it or is it another person in the building? This is told from multiple POV’s from the past and present – it’s wild! I actually think I had my mouth open in shock for the majority of the book. It was a great thriller! I immediately started another one of his books.

Just Haven’t Met You Yet || Two Sophie Cousens’ books in one month and that’s because the writing is just my favorite! Can happily ever after start from picking up the wrong luggage? Laura certainly hopes so! Laura is on her way for an assignment on the island of Jersey when she accidentally picks up the wrong luggage and it just so happens that everything she learns about this mystery man is exactly like the type of person she wants to be with. Laura is on the island trying to find out more about her parent’s love story and enlists the help of a less than thrilled cab driver who agrees to be her tour guide on the island. Between the mystery man, finding out about her parents love story and learning about the island – she realizes some things… All that to say, love this book and love the writing! Such a great light hearted read!

Eight Perfect Murders || Malcolm is co-owner of a bookstore in Boston and when he first started working there, he wrote a blog post about the 8 books he thinks had perfect murders. When an FBI agent shows up at his door saying she thinks his list is being used to commit crimes, it starts to worry Malcolm that his past is catching up with him. The person committing these crimes knows Malcolm and knows all about his personal history. The twists were wild and the ending actually had my mouth agape because I didn’t see it coming. Peter Swanson is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine!
