B~Inspired | Ashley from Turquoise & Teale

Hello lovelies!! This B~Inspired Series has been one of my favorites and I'm so happy with the positive response that it's garnered! I'm incredibly excited to have Ashley from Turquoise & Teale as the feature for this month! When she's not busy travelling or planning her upcoming Charleston wedding, Ashley is writing about finding the newest style inspirations, sharing amazing recipes and giving us the latest in beauty products!  I'm tweaking the series a little with each person featured and hope you all enjoy reading more about Ashley!!
Name/Blog: Ashley, writer & editor at Turquoise & Teale
Location: Atlanta, GA / St. Louis, MO / Charleston, SC
Current Title/ Company: Self-Employed, Sales Rep
Educational Background: Graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Public Relations
B: So I know you are constantly on the go for work, but what exactly do you do & what's a typical day like for you?
A: I'm a manufacture's sales rep and work in the hospitality/contract industry. Essentially I work with interior designers to help them furnish whatever contract project that they're working on (mostly hotels and restaurants). My typical work day is checking pricing/stock on fabrics, requesting samples for clients and helping them pull options. I often have appointments daily, so I cart around chairs, fabric books and finish samples for presentations. Mostly I'm juggling everything in my hands and praying I don't drop it all!
B: How did you decide on what you wanted your career to be - did you just sort of fall into it - or did you have a clear path?
A: Being a sales rep is something I never thought I'd be doing. I spent two summers interning in New York working in PR and events and thought that was my dream job. Instead, I joined the family business when I realized it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. It's been such a great experience working in the same industry that my grandfather started in, my parents have been in my entire life and now training my younger brother who just started with us in July. We have so much fun together and it's the best support system.

B: What has been your greatest career achievement thus far?
A: Working for myself is something that I feel so thankful to do every day. It's a lot of work and if I don't personally do it, it won't get done, but the rewards are so motivating. The first year was hard and was spent building the relationships with my clients. Three years later It's only getting better and I'm so excited for the future possibilities.

B: What/who encouraged you to start blogging and has it impacted your career in anyway?
A: Moving to a new city is what initially made me start Turquoise & Teale. I read a handful of blogs at the time and loved the community it seemed to bring with it. I've made some of the nicest friends from blogging and there are so many girls I would love to get to meet, but live across the country. It feels like I have friends wherever I go! :) I keep the blog separate from my actual career, although there are a few clients that know about my blog. Working with interior designers is nice since they understand and appreciate a creative outlet.

B: What are three things you never leave the house without?
A: My iphone, a snack (kind bar!), Listerine strips for fresh breath

B: If you could go anywhere in the world - where would it be?
A: Greece is next on my list!

B: Who would play you in a movie?
A: Blake Lively (can I have her hair please?)

B: If you could have dinner with one woman, who would it be and why?
Jackie Kennedy. I read Mrs. Kennedy & Me and was fascinated by her role as first lady and how she handled the pressures that came with it. Plus she's a total style icon and rocked Jack Rogers like no other.

B: Do you have a quote or motto that you like to live your life by?
A: "I have found if you love life, life will love you back" - Arthur Rubinstein

B: What is your go-to scent?
A: Jo Malone's Nectarine Blossom and Honey. I always get stopped and asked what I'm wearing when this is on!

B: Do you have a major wish list item at the moment?
A: The Prada Saffiano Lux Tote. A classic bag that will never go out of style.

B: What advice would you give your 21 year old self?
A: Smile and laugh every day. You'll be thankful for unanswered prayers and where life takes you. It won't be what you expect, but it will make you happier than you could have ever imagined.

And finally...
B: What has been your most inspired moment?
My most inspired moment for the blog was after the Southern Blog Society conference. Surrounding yourself with inspiring and crazy talented people is the best motivation. Of course anytime I'm back in Charleston I can't help but be inspired when I'm around that much beauty.
