Weekending | Quick Trip to Florida

Happy Monday friends!! I’m back from a long weekend in Florida celebrating my grandmother’s 90th birthday!! I couldn’t believe that it had been over a year since the last time I went back home…does anyone else wonder at what point your hometown stops being your home?! Regardless, I saw some friends, met their babies & fit in a lot of family time! Here’s a few snaps from our pseudo vacation!

After a quick flight our first stop was seeing my grandmother’s! I have to say it’s never easy seeing your loved ones getting older, but seeing my grandmother’s literally light up as we came down the hallway – it instantly made me lose it and feel so grateful to have them in my life!

Besides seeing my family when I’m home, I love being able to see my girlfriends that have been in my life for decades – isn’t that crazy! Not only have these sweet ladies been my friends for what feels like my entire life, but I love that they have become the best mom’s out there!! My friend Abbey is expecting baby girl #2 this Wednesday!!

Yes that would be an Elsa sticker on my hand for her little girl πŸ™‚

And little miss Charlotte that is just the sweetest little thing!

I spent more time at the pool in the last few days than I have all summer and it was amazing!! My parents moved to a new place and their complex is like a resort – with free Starbucks and everything!!

One thing Jacksonville has over Boston is a Nordstrom!! It’s sad, but true that my favorite part of Jacksonville is the St. John’s Town Center – restaurants and shopping – not much else needed for me to have a good time! My new maxi dress came in handy, but I can’t say it kept me cool…seriously how did I grow up in that heat and humidity?!

At this point it’s safe to assume that if a vacation falls on a Friday, there will be sushi eaten and it just so happens that visiting my favorite sushi place in Jacksonville is always at the top of my list!

It might look like we’re eating a second dinner, but I promise we only had drinks…and dessert with my cousin and her husband at Cooper’s Hawk Winery

Saturday was the main event!

 My beautiful sister & cousins!

You may have seen this photo on instagramalready, but it’s too good not to share here as well! Three generations of strong women because of one incredible lady!!

Being the resident planner in my family – my mom asked if I could help her with my grandmother’s birthday and I’m happy to report it went off without a hitch!! I had a professional photographer come an hour before everyone else got there to take photos of my grandmother with her kids, grandkids and great grand kids! Sneak peek below from Carolin at Keen Photography

I can’t wait for all the photos, but the fact that we are all looking at the camera and no one blinked is a miracle in and of itself!! There were toasts, a video showcasing some of the great moments in her life & most of all a lot of laughs! This is something that we will never forget and may we all be lucky enough to live to 90 (and beyond) to see what our lives were able to bring into the world!

I wish I would have know that Jacksonville had that town center when I was there in June! We just walked downtown and on the river walk and I kept wondering where everyone shops haha! So glad you got to spend time with your family celebrating your grandmother's birthday–that is so special!! Love your parents' complex–that has got to be nice for sure!

We haven't been in a few years, but I wanna go back! And finally, Boston doesn't have a Nordstrom?!?! How is that possible?

I dont think your hometown EVER stops becoming your home. My dad STILL takes us back to a little town he grew up in & tells us stories (the same ones over & over) … its like you can see him go through a time warp & he's really there again in his mind.
