Favorite Toddler Toys (2-3 years old)

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a few months since my last post on some of my favorite toys for Sophia, I wanted to give a little update on what she’s been loving. Some will be repeats, but most of these toys are new to us in the last few months / weeks. We have been really lucky with our weather this Summer so our time having to play inside is few and far between – opting to be outside as much as possible.

Art Easel || We got this for Sophia for her 2nd birthday and it has been a hit! What we really liked is that it has adjustable heights to grow with them and there are two sides – one is magnetic with a whiteboard and the other side is chalkboard. It also comes with a roll of art paper and cups for paint. For the supplies some family members gifted Sophia specific items for her little art center.

Kids Made Modern || I bought this art set back in March and at the time Sophia was really young to play with anything in it yet. As we are looming closer to winter, I think she’ll be old enough with supervision to do all the crafts that you can possibly imagine with this Kids Made Modern art set. It does say for ages 7 and up, but I think under supervision toddlers can certainly play and create, minus letting her use the scissors!

Lego Starter Kit || I’ll be honest, legos are not my favorite and I’ve already stepped on these one too many times! But, what’s great is the imagination really goes wild for kids playing with Legos and it’s something that Gary and I really get into when playing with Sophia. I love that this set comes with a case for storage so everything stays in one place!

Magna-Tiles || What a brilliant invention these tiles are! The case says ages 3-99 and it is truly fun for not only your toddler, but for you as well. Sophia has so much fun playing with these that we bought a set to keep at my parents house. They also store really nicely. Another great toy for imaginative play and really helps with their building capabilities.

ABC Picture Puzzle || Another start of quarantine purchase and it’s been amazing at expanding Sophia’s vocabulary. We do this almost every night before her bath and every few days she will get a new word that she didn’t know before. It’s great to work on letters, words and even colors. Sometimes I’ll catch Sophia playing with this on her own trying to add the letters into the right spots.

Leap Frog Picnic Basket || I have to admit, having pretend picnics with Sophia is one of my favorite things to do on rainy days. It helps her work on her shapes and also sharing, which has been a bit of a struggle! Sometimes I’ll add real snacks to the plates and she gets a real kick out of it!

My First Purse || Sophia loves playing with my purses and lipsticks – basically anything she finds in my bags. You may have seen my IG Story over the weekend where she kindly wrecked my new lipstick! Anyway…she got this as a gift – her second little purse for her collection and loves playing with it. It’s really cute to see her pack everything up and put it over her arm and say – “let’s go!’ Also, nothing cuter than her talking on the phone then putting it back in the purse!

Scoop and Serve Ice Cream Counter || Another Melissa & Doug wooden toy winner! This is one of those toys that keeps Sophia occupied the longest without one of us having to play with her – so 15 minutes of independent play is pretty fantastic! It comes with some fake dollar bills and loads of ‘toppings” to scoop! I think it’s really cute that Sophia likes to pretend eat the ice cream and offers it to us. They really did think of everything between the menu, scoopers and pretend counter – it’s the perfect toy.

Those are just some of our recent favorites and I have found that toys that she wasn’t as interested in a month or two ago, suddenly become her newest obsession. What is old, is new again!

Are there any toys you would add to this list?

I always LOVE and look forward to these kinds of posts you put together because you always have such great suggestions. Aviah has that ice cream scoop set, which my friend gifted her for her birthday and plays with it every single day. I need to get that Kid Made Modern kit; we love doing crafts!
