I finally feel like I’ve gotten my reading groove back after months of just not feeling it. I think there is something about reading real books again instead of reading on my phone or iPad, since I’m on the computer practically all day, it’s nice to have that break and actually put gadgets away. I’m sharing five great books that I really enjoyed!

A Good Marriage|| Zach and Amanda are the picture perfect couple from the outside and in their idyllic Park Slope neighborhood everyone wants to be like them. Lizzie is an up and comer at a big NYC law firm when she gets a call from an old friend Zach, the catch is he’s been arrested for a crime he says he didn’t commit and the only person he wants to represent him is Lizzie. The question is why her and how can she be sure that he didn’t kill his wife, especially when all the evidence is pointing to him. It’s the “everybody has a secret” type of book. I loved the twists and turns this book took and it really kept me on the edge until the very last page!

A Hundred Summers || This was not my typical read, but when so many people said it was one of their favorite reads, I knew I had to get it. When Lizzie returns to Seaview, Rhode Island for the summer it’s been 6 years since she last saw Nick Greenwald and unfortunately he’s not alone, but married to her former best friend. I found myself wanting to know the history between Lizzie and Nick, which the author did a great job of weaving in chapter after chapter. There were twists I wasn’t expecting and when I finished the book I immediately gave it to my sister to read next because it was that good. It’s absolutely the best beach / summer read!

I Know Who You Are || A twisty thriller with a shocker of an ending I didn’t see coming. Aimee has new found fame, a husband that can’t really stand her and a past that she doesn’t want coming out. When she comes home to find her husband missing, she can’t help but think it’s the person that’s been stalking her that’s behind it, only the police seem to think Aimee is behind it. I really enjoyed Alice Feeney’s writing style and hope to add more of her books to my reading list.

American Royals || So many people have raved about American Royals and I’ll be honest it took me almost 2/4 of the book to really get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. Imagine if America was a monarchy and the royal family was started with George Washington. It’s a pretty interesting premise and one you can’t help but imagining the British Royal Family in the roles of these characters. The biggest difference, the heir to the throne is Beatrice and she’s not sure America is ready for their first Queen one day. Her parents unfortunately want to make sure she has a King by her side, but she’s not ready to make that kind of commitment. You also have her party girl of a sister and playboy brother with their own views on how it feels to be the spares to the royal throne. It’s really hard not thinking of Prince William and Harry when reading this and imagining how their lives might be – the commoners that are their best friends and also spouses and what type of face they put out into the world and always having to be “on.” It was a fun read and I’m ready for the second book!

One To Watch || This was such a good book! It was like the Bachelor, meets UnReal, meets influencer world. Bea is a really popular plus size fashion blogger and needs to mend her broken heart. When she’s asked to appear on the next season of Main Squeeze as the lead, she’s obviously apprehensive, but excited to bring diversity to the cast not only as the lead, but hopefully with her suitors. We follow Bea as she begins her journey to love – throw in some salacious gossip, terrible trolls on the internet and a past love – it’s as close to what we know of reality TV in a book as you can get. The question remains – can Bea believe that someone “normal sized” and handsome would actually be interested in her or are they there just for their 15 minutes of fame. I sped through this book and couldn’t wait to see if Bea got her happily ever after.

I’ve started to keep one book on my iPad that I read when I’m putting Sophia down for naps or to sleep and then I keep an actual book on my nightstand to read before bed. I like to have one that’s a bit of chick lit and the other suspense – that way I don’t get bored.

So glad you loved A Hundred Summers!! I almost want to go back and reread it now because I remember loving it so much. Must have been the New England setting ;-). I’m thrilled our Library is open again because I need actual books, it’s my reprieve from the screens. Happy Friday friend!
