Recently Read Volume 5

I think I found my reading mojo right as the year is winding down! I’ve been on a real Kindle Unlimited kick and also just downloaded Audible when they were running the Black Friday promo and have already listened through one book! My last book post was exactly one month ago and I’ve got 5 more books to share with you today!

The Selection (Kindle Unlimited)

I’m not sure why it took me so long to start this series, but when I found out that it was coming to Netflix next year, I wanted to read it! If you took the Bachelor & threw in a caste system, plus a royal family, you’d have the Selection. America never thought she’d be selected for the competition to marry the Prince, mostly because it meant turning her back on her first love. It has glitz, glamour and a whole lot of drama! I loved the first book!

The Elite

The second book picks up right where the first one left off and I was really excited to start it, but truthfully it wasn’t as exciting to me as the first one. More girls are sent home, rebels are looking for something in the palace and America is basically waffling between the Prince and her first love Aspen. Without giving anything away, I decided to take a break from the rest of the books for now.

Lucian Divine (Kindle Unlimited)

You’re either going to love this book or hate it and unfortunately I was in the hate it category. Lucian is Eve’s guardian angel and the one thing he’s not supposed to do is fall in love with the soul he’s supposed to protect. Clearly confused Eve starts to have a relationship with her guardian angel and between the weird celestial relationship, I couldn’t find a rhythm to reading the book. I’m usually a big Renee Carlino fan, but this fell flat for me, although I did really like the ending, just had to get there!

Yours to Keep (Kindle Unlimited)

I love light books that read like watching a Hallmark movie! Pro baseball player Carter goes back to his small hometown to rehab his shoulder and ends up next door to his high school science partner, Olive. The real reason that Carter came back was to see his high school love Felicity, but of course Olive seems to be so much more than he remembers! Cute. light & fun to read!

The Girlfriend

I haven’t read a thriller in a while and loved listening to the Girlfriend on Audible! The author does a great job of giving a lot of back story and really developing the characters. Laura loves her life and especially loves her son, Daniel. So when Cherry, his new girlfriend, enters the pictures she wants to give her the benefit of the doubt, but can’t help feeling like Cherry is only after Daniel for the better life he could give her. It kept me engaged until the very end!

What are you reading now? What should I download next?

I LOVED The Selection. I may have told you – stop at 3… dont bother with the last 2.
But I’m the same way – I’ve learned I need a break in between books or I get really NOT impressed with the next one
