Preparing for Kindergarten

Happy Tuesday, friends! I am at a loss for words that Sophia will be starting Kindergarten in a couple of weeks – it’s real school! No more nap times, no more stuffies at school & all around being a big girl! We found out her classroom assignment yesterday and with that also comes back to school shopping! When I tell you I have been looking forward to shopping for supplies since my last first day’s of school, I’m not exaggerating. I understand that pretty much all of the supplies will be shared by the entire classroom, but there are still a few things that will be just hers. Here’s everything I’m planning to prepare for an easy and happy transition into Kindergarten.

  • We’ve been reading “The Night Before Kindergarten” for a few days. I bought it to read on the actual night before, but of course Sophia found it and wanted to read it immediately! Super cute book and prepares your kiddo for the emotions before the first day.
  • I love my Simple Modern water bottle and picked one out for Sophia as well.
  • Got all new labels from our favorite, Mabels Labels and it includes 126 different labels.
  • Sophia goes through shoes like me, meaning she wears them out, so a new pair of sneakers was needed for the start of school. Love these from H&M because we haven’t mastered tying our shoes yet.
  • Backpacks are so fun to shop for, but I will never personalize with their names on the outside – just the world we live in today. Which is totally fine because that means we can get a new backpack every year!
  • We have a variety of Bentgo boxes from the daycare days and I’m still planning on using them for lunches in Kindergarten as well.
  • I want to make our morning’s as seamless as possible, especially since we will now have two drop offs. This daily clothes organizer is the perfect additional to our routine.
  • One thing on the school list is a pair of headphones and I’m assuming she might go through a few during the school year, so trying not to break the bank on these.

With all that being said and no matter how much we’ve prepared, I am confident of two things. 1. Sophia is well beyond ready and excited for school to start. 2. I will be crying ugly tears after drop off!

Is there anything I’m missing?

I love the “night before the grade” books! I’ve given those to my daughter since Kindergarten, and she is now in third grade. Kindergarten is such a special year, and great beginning to the school years. I hope she has a great year!

We have those headphones and they surprisingly lasted most of Kindergarten (the first pair we bought in another brand broke after a few weeks) and we are into first grade with them. They have been so good! Back to school shopping is my favorite!

The no more naptime is a big adjustment, but she’s got this! Stay strong momma <3
