Recently Read Volume 8

Happy Monday, friends! If you follow me on Instagram then you may have seen the news that we closed on our new house on Friday. I’ll be sharing more as we get closer to the move, but let’s just say that the market in the Boston suburbs is absolute chaos. I’m talking 20+ offers within hours of seeing the home! But that’s a post for another day – today I wanted to share a few of the books I recently finished that I think you’ll all enjoy as well.

The Invitation || I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was clever and a little different from the normal love / hate books you read. Stella met Hudson at a wedding, only she wasn’t actually on the guest list and she’s using a fake name with everyone she meets there. Hudson’s knows Stella isn’t who she says she is, but there’s something about her he can’t shake. There was a really great character buildup and their relationship develops in a really fun way. There were also a lot of turns you don’t expect, but I will say Stella’s job is one that is probably the coolest I’ve read about in a book.

Never Let You Go || I honestly couldn’t remember if I had read this book in the past and maybe that was because I was listening to this on audible. Turns out, I did read the book back in 2017….but it was still really good the second time around. Thought I would just post my original review below since it still holds true!  Holy thriller! I was instantly drawn into this book! In any case, the book was REALLY good! If you’ve ever seen the movie Enough with Jennifer Lopez you can’t help but draw the similarities between the movie and the book, but it is a different story. Lindsey Nash escaped her abusive husband with her young daughter and started a new life. Eleven years later their teenage daughter is almost 18 & really wants to know her father who is just being released from prison. I thought I had the twist figured out in the middle of the book but I was seriously so wrong & even more was so shocked that I audibly gasped while on the elliptical! I can’t recommend this book enough –  it was such a thrilling read. Some of the writing was a little choppy, but overall I really enjoyed it!

Big Summer || Daphne and Drue were friends when they were young, but they couldn’t be more different and after an especially bad blow up fight they haven’t been close in years. So it’s especially shocking when Drue asks Daphne to be part of her wedding which is supposed to be the event of the season. There’s an element of social media playing a large role in the relationships we have as well as the complex nature of our relationships, especially with friends. I wanted to read this book for a really long time and I’m glad I finally picked it up when it was on sale. A bit of romance and a bit of suspense – wouldn’t think it from the cover!

What’s next on your reading list?
